I can only echo the sentiments of others, here. I would highly recommend Maeva’s hypnobirthing class, and Maeva herself is a large part of that recommendation. I was a bit skeptical when I started the class, worried that it may be a bit too «far out» for me and my partner and that we’d be getting propaganda rather than information. But Maeva’s positive, informative, intelligent, and practical approach made us feel immediately comfortable and dispelled any of those worries. I left feeling like I had been given a broad range of information from someone expert in the field and that I was empowered to make my own decisions about the type of experience that I/​we wanted for our birth. The group that I took the class with was also fairly diverse in our level of knowledge and anxiety as well as our wishes for our birth experiences. Maeva navigated all of that quite agilely and without judgment, making sure everyone had the opportunity to get out of the class what was best for them as individuals/​couples.
Maeva goes above and beyond, generously and warmly providing LOTS of information in and outside of the class, and it was all definitely worth the money and the time! Again, my partner and I can’t recommend this class highly enough.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Maeva’s Hypnobirthing class. As others have mentioned, it’s so much more comprehensive than any other birth class out there — thanks to Maeva. Not only is she sweet, compassionate and genuine, but also very intelligent and realistic, a rare combination in the world of alternative birth professionals. There are many other Hypnobirthing class offerings in the city but Maeva is a certified hypnotist who has attended numerous births herself, which I think makes all the difference. In addition to teaching the Hypnobirthing method, she provided us with TONS of practical info for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding that we had not received from anyone else (not even from our own doula) and her recommendations and referrals to other professionals if and when needed were always spot on. My only regret is that we couldn’t have Maeva’s support as our doula but an other (very lucky!) mom had already booked her when we met.
HIGHLY recommended.

Maeva was sweet and very informative with many tips and advice for the big day. Each class was full of so much information but I think the best tips I came out with was stretching everyday, positive thinking and affirmations, and whatever method works best to achieve relaxation.
She’s very patient and non judgemental. She’s available to answer any questions and explains anything that one does not understand.
If I weren’t already planning on having my mother and my fiancé in the delivery room with me I’d consider using her as my doula for added support.
I will give an updated review after the big day.

Maeva was our HypnoBirthing instructor and she was GREAT! Before taking the class, I read the book. I debated taking the course because I thought maybe I would be paying to hear all the information in the book reiterated. After reading reviews on Unilocal and calling Maeva to ask her a few questions about the course, I decided to take the 5 classes. I was NOT disappointed. She provided us with a lot of useful information that was not in the book and answered all of our questions. We came into the class not knowing much about labor/​birthing and she prepared us with everything we needed to know. I felt very confident about giving birth to my son, with little/​no fear in my mind.
After we had taken the course, I reached out to her when I reached 40 weeks and my OB/​Gyn started discussing induction with us. She was happy to provide me with advice that was very helpful. Thankfully I went into labor on my own a few days before they were to induce me. My spouse and I felt very prepared for the birth of our son when it came time. I have told all of my friends who are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant that hypnobirthing is definitely the way to go, and Maeva is an awesome instructor!

My husband and I both LOVED hypnobirthing with Maeva. All 5 classes were full of incredibly helpful information. I had read a lot about pregnancy and birth, but the class allowed me to really integrate these learnings and encouraged me to really practice the techniques on an on-​going basis, so now I feel super prepared for my birth. I think the class was also incredibly helpful for my husband who feels empowered and like he is an active part and plays an important role, which puts me at ease too. I’m excited to give birth and feel that while I know what I want my birth to look like, I have tools that will help me handle any unsuspected situations more calmly and confidently. It was really great and I definitely recommend Maeva!

Maeva was our hypnobirthing instructor and doula for our first son, and did an outstanding job as a coach and companion.
She exceeded expectations in every aspect of the process (from ensuring a relaxed environment at home to liaising effectively with the medical staff at the hospital while talking care of me during an exhausting delivery). I know without any doubt I made it through 29 hours without drugs thanks to her HypnoBirthing coaching and doula expertise, and even though in the end I had to have medication, I wouldn’t change a thing.
We are extremely thankful for her services and could not recommend her enough– she was a big part of the birth being a great experience.

I loved Maeva’s class. I was concerned that Hynobirthing might be too esoteric and impractical for me but Maeve struck the perfect cord between the spiritual side of birth and the reality/​nitty gritty of birthing in NYC in 2014 — whether you are going to a hospital, birthing center, or having a home birth. It was very educationally based so that my husband and I are now prepped for the many complications that may arise and the strategies/​rights we can employ when they do. She provides tons of techniques. I felt that this was even more than a Hypnobirthing class.

Maeva and her hypnobirthing classes are fantastic and they far exceeded my expectations. She is not just teaching a birthing method, we learned so much about the human body, the baby’s experience, having a healthy pregnancy, relaxation, what interventions are available and what they do, positions for all stages of birthing, as well as helping the baby get into position and so many more helpful things. I feel like I went from being totally unaware to being an extremely well informed participant in my pregnancy. My partner also learned a lot and it is helping him understand how to be more part of this process in a productive way. Maeva is very knowledgeable, pleasant, honest, and seemed fairly objective. I wouldn’t say we were the most easy going clients, and she was very agreeable and helpful. I feel very good about the experience and how this has prepared me for the the «little one.» As part of the class, we received useful literature, 2 great books, and lots of references to helpful links and audio relaxations. I have gone from feeling like I’m going to be a total spazz the day of birth, to feeling very empowered and relaxed that whatever happens, I will be able to cope and make informed decisions about my medical treatment.
One last thing I have to mention is that this class was a VERY GOOD PRICE for what you are getting. Most of the classes I looked into gave less than a quarter of this for the same money. My close friend took a supposedly comprehensive class at the hospital, that cost over double what this cost, and she felt she knew very little useful information when it came down to the day she gave birth, and she was not a participant in the interventions she received because she really didn’t know what they meant. She also knew very little about how to help herself during the pregnancy and birth.
So yes, I highly recommend this class!

I can’t recommend Maeva enough. As a first-​time mom, I was nervous about the whole birth process, but had heard good things about hypnobirthing and figured it was worth a shot. Now, obviously this is a more «new-​age» type approach and may be a little too out there for some, but that’s what make Maeva so great, she never made it seem like it was «out there.» She made every class informative and fun, laughed with us when we watched the crazy birthing videos and more than anything, made us feel comfortable and calm about having a baby. The most important thing I took away from the class was her ressurance that what we were learning were tools and that not every birth goes as planned, but at the end of the day, the way you have your child is the way they were meant to be born. It really helped the day of when things, as usual, didn’t go as your planned and what she said made it feel like it was OK to deviate from the original plan if need be.
Maeva was so caring and calm and really took the time out for each one of us students. She even took time on her own to call and check on me when I was scared that something might’ve been wrong and she reassured me that I was fine. (I was.)
She was so amazing and this class was so great for gearing us up for that big day. Not to mention, the other people in the class were so wonderful as well, we really felt like a family and it was sad when we had our final class.
If you are thinking about a birthing class, this one for us was great and really made the process a calm one. Good luck!

We took Maeva’s Hypnobirthing classes and were lucky enough to have her as our doula, as well. I am so grateful to Maeva for her excellent care leading up to and during our birth. Like many births, what transpired on the day was certainly a deviation from our intended birth plan, but having Maeva there as my champion and my advocate was absolutely invaluable. Her compassion and knowledge make her the ideal doula: I would highly recommend having her on your team on the big day. We are so grateful for her help and love in bringing our Jasper into the world!

Maeva is incredible. She is sweet, compassionate, honest and comforting. We just finished our 5 private Hypnobirthing classes with Maeva. She came to our home and spent hours with us going through everything we need to do and know, for our Hypnobirthing experience. She went out of her way to accommodate our times and took her own personal time to call, text and check in on me regularly to make sure I was feeling well and to answer any questions I might have.
She has the most calming demeanor and I couldn’t have wished to find anyone better to walk us through the process of getting ready for birth.
I completely forgot to go to one of our sessions, which she then still accommodated my time, and even met with me once more because she felt we didn’t have enough time to address everything (because I was so late…).
I am due in 12 days and have no fears or concerns about my delivery because I know Maeva prepared us for it in the best way possible.
I HIGHLY recommend working with her, you will not regret it.
The only thing I am sad about is that I won’t get to see her weekly anymore.
I will miss her presence and friendship.

I can’t say enough amazing things about Maeva. She was our hypnobirthing therapist, as well as doula during the birth of our daughter. The techniques she taught me were invaluable during the big day. I was much more prepared, calm and centered. Believe me, my birth DID NOT go as planned, let’s just say it lasted much longer and I ended up needing surgery anyway… but regardless of that fact, I still had a wonderful hypnobirthing experience and without Maeva’s help and presence I absolutely wouldn’t have had such an outcome. I am SO grateful!

Maeva is incredible! I work as a prenatal massage therapist and I can tell you that she is amazing at what she does. She was with us for the birth of our second son at home.
The whole pregnancy, we followed the hypnobirthing program and personalized our sessions. We worked on specific points that I wanted to address that second time around. Maeva is highly intuitive and will guide you gently but efficently throughout all the emotions that come up.
She came to our home for labor. She fulfilled all the expectations I had and with her coaching I was able to totally let go, be completely free during my labor. It was amazing. She knew exactly when to say the key words I needed.
I highly recommend her to all my clients. She loves what she does and is great at it. Hypnobirthing is one great way to get ready for labor and Maeva is the woman you want to have by your side. She never crosses the line and my husband never felt «replaced».
