Good for a quick breakfast. Fast and cheap and overall pretty tasty. I got a bacon, 2 eggs and cheese on a roll for under $ 3.50… the roll was fresh and the bacon was crispy. No idea what the lunch offerings are like, but based on what I saw I’d guess it’d be pretty typical of any New York deli. Either way, it’s a good alternative to the pricy chains in the neighborhood. Plus, they take credit, which is nice.

Like everyone said, this deli is very average but has a great location(right by Penn Station). They definitely have a good menu and service is quick, but the sandwiches were probably below average. They were pretty large however. I didn’t try any of their hot food, but my guess is that’s also pretty average as well. There were a ton of Empire State Building workers in here around lunch time — probably where they get most of their business.

This is kind of weird to even review, but I go to Rae’s about once a month when I feel the need for a grilled cheese sandwich. None of the other deli’s near my office makes a decent grilled cheese sandwich. Rae’s does. They give me plenty of bacon when I get a grilled cheese, tomato and bacon. I’ve been there dozens of times, but I only get grilled cheese when I go there. But I wish they had sourdough bread. Rye bread is nice, but a guy needs to jazz things up and try new things now and then!

Sometimes I try to get breakfast here and they always run out of oatmeal before 10. They also make me wait in a line to order only to find out that it’s sold out. Really huge waste of my time. I always end up going to Starbucks even though I’m passionate about supporting local businesses.

Convenient for a quick bite. Heading over to ESB and I was starving. By first look, I questioned whether it was worth my time, but the deli was full of construction workers and locals. Always a sure bet when you’re hungry. I was pleasantly surprised with pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon, and diet soda for $ 7.65! Pancakes were top notch and fluffy… would have never guessed from a little deli They also had a buffet bar that looks like it would be set up for lunch.

Seems kind of grimey when you walk inside; however, they make a decently good sandwich. I’ve had chicken cutlet, turkey, roast beef, tuna and breakfast sandwiches. All have been good. They have a large buffet– salad bar and a hot food bar(mainly Chinese kind of food). Tons of varieties of potato chips and drinks. You’re probably going to spend about $ 10 for lunch on a sandwich, drink and chips. Salad bar is affordable by the pound. Co-workers occasionally ordered sandwiches and salads(macaroni, potato, etc) for meetings and they make a pretty nice display with the food.

I keep looking for a true New York style deli in the Herald Square area. Tried Rae’s with no such luck. It is one of the closer things to a NY style deli in the area. I went with a group of 3 people and everyone said their food was average. We ended up with a Roast Beef sandwich, a panini and a turkey club. All were nothing special. It is a good local deli, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Nothing special about this average deli. There’s a sandwich counter, hot buffet, salad bar, and a few snacks and drinks. Being across the street from the ESB, I thought it’d have touristy ESB prices, however under $ 10 you got yourself a sandwich and beverage, and maybe even a little side snack. I got a chicken cutlet sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato, salt and pepper. My sandwich was prepared with two pieces of lukewarm chicken cutlet, mayo, shredded lettuce, and tomato. No salt, no pepper, and limp shredded lettuce. At least the roll was fresh. Weird seating arrangement with almost communal tables and an awkward dining counter around the perimeter, and semi-clean-but-not-really feeling about the place(antiquated maybe?) makes it slightly below average, but a decent decision if you’re in a grind.
