Dr. Shahar has a very unique practice on Park Ave in New York City.
Sometimes, plastic surgeons care more about performing the procedure and can be pushy with their recommendations, but Dr. Shahar is much more reasonable and will give an honest and professional opinion about what will work, what is safe, and how to get the best results.
Before I got some work done I asked to see some of his work and I must say after looking at 2 «fat» books I was very impressed with the results I saw. Dr Shahr is very meticulous and skilled.
When I asked some tough questions, he was very thoughtful and patient, and his answers showed to me that he really understood and cared about how I felt and How I will feel after the procedure.
He’s very caring doctor and will give all his number to patients to make sure they can reach him if needed ²⁴⁄₇ which is way above and beyond for a surgeon!
His Office will make you feel very safe and private and the prices are very reasonable.

**Please note that I have seen the review below before i moved forward with my surgery and after further discussion with past patients and the doctor moved forward with my procedure — i had a completely different experience than what the person below describes and with the same procedure, i wrote the review below as a first hand account, not a response to the previous review on this page**
I went to Dr. Shahar for a rhinoplasty six months ago. It’s something
I’ve always wanted but never seriously considered, until I learned
that my boyfriend’s mother and sister, whose faces I have always
considered naturally flawless, have had the exact same procedure done a while back. It was easy and fast to schedule a consultation. Dr. Shahar showed me before and after pictures, touched my face, and we talked about what I want and what I can expect. The experience was dry but pleasant, because I didn’t feel like I’m being sold on a product.
After surgery, during which my nose also had to be realigned due to a
fracture from a childhood accident, recovery was minimal! Bandaids
came off in 5 days and a week after I had no more bruising! You know
the doctor did a precise cautious job when there’s minimal bruising or
other signs of damage. Pre and post surgery service and attention was excellent, taking care to answer any of my concerns and honestly
approaching any challenge.
I couldn’t be happier with the results! Dr. Shahar made my face look
like it was meant to. My nose looks completely natural and
complimentary to my features. In fact, people who haven’t seen me in a long time rarely note the difference — and that’s what an excellent
nose job should be, not a plastic barbie fake but a beautiful
naturally integrated facial feature that you were meant to be born
with.

Dr. Yoel Shahar ruined my life. He performed a rhinoplasty on me that destroyed my face. He gave me a very upturned piggish nose that looks ridiculous. In addition, my lower eyelids became permanently sunken in and darkened. Now, I always look tired and sad. He also damaged the oil glands in the skin covering my nose, as a result the skin on my nose is always dry and scaly.
My ability to breathe through my nose was greatly diminished, he, unbelievably, narrowed my airways.
When I asked him why he diminshed my ability to breathe, he simply responded that he’s only a cosmetic surgeon and that he doesn’t concern himself with breathing issues.
When I cried about my mangled face, he just went on and on about how he does the fastest rhinoplasty in America. He brags that he never spends more than 35 minutes in the operating room with a patient. Well maybe that’s the problem! Where is he running to? Maybe he should spend a little more time in the OR to make sure that he’s giving his patient a nose that matches his face.
After my disaster surgery with Shahar, I had to quit my job. The combination of the over-​rotated nose and dark sunken eyes made me look like some kind of pig monster. I just didn’t look human anymore. Everybody at work was staring or asking questions about what happend to me. I became a spectacle.
For one year, I had to hide in my house and just wait until I could find another doctor to fix my face. Every surgeon I consulted with said I have to wait at least a year until they could attempt a revision. It was the most difficult year of my life. I was so isolated and alone.
It’s sad, but true, we treat attractive people more nicely and ugly people are just shunned or ignored. I learned that the hard way. Ever since Shahar destroyed me, people just don’t treat me the same.
I looked scary and people just avoided me. Dating or romance was absolutely out of the question. I was so scared that I would never get married and have a family.
Eventually, I found two doctors that were able to restore some of my dignity and make my face look human again. Please read my reviews of Dr. Pastorek, plastic surgeon, and Dr. Thellman Karcher, dermatologist.
In conclusion, Dr. Shahar is a horrible surgeon. Stay away!!!
He is not board certified in Otolaryngology or Plastic Surgery. He is just a General Surgeon desperate for money.
I have spent over $ 100,000 in efforts to fix my face and ability to breathe. For the past 10 years, since this man ruined me, it has been an endless stream of consultations, surgeries and skin treatments just so that I can get back to looking somewhat normal.
Dr. Shahar charges much less than other surgeons, but he’ll cost you a lot more when you desperately need to find another doctor to fix his mistakes.
Don’t be stingy with your life. Don’t go for the cheapest and most available surgeon, like I did. Do your homework and research when selecting a doctor. Make sure that the doctor is trained to do the work you need. Make sure he has before and after pictures of other patients with similar issues.
