M15 Bus

Very rude bus drivers. I can understand that it’s a pain for them to drive through Manhattan traffic, but I’m personally sick of the attitude the bus drivers throw around. One particular day, I had picked up a small bungee chair from a friend that I wanted to take on the bus because I would never have fit on the train during rush hour (without receiving evil glares). I saw people bringing on shopping carts and huge grocery bags and boxes. When it was my turn to swipe and get on, the bus driver refused to let me know stating that it was a fire hazard for me to bring something bulky on the bus. I pointed out to him that 50% of the passengers on the bus had huge packages that were blocking the walkway, but he paid no mind. He chose to single me out and kicked me off the bus even after I politely pleaded with him to allow me on. I have never experienced such rudeness and insensitivity from a bus driver.

Had a bad experience yesterday trying to get from 2^nd ave and E 32^nd st to South Ferry. After boarding the bus with the banner South Ferry on the front the driver later announced that E Houston st would be the last stop. He said there was another M15 right behind to take anyone continuing on. There was — and it sped right by us in the middle lane, just as the next 2 did. Finally one stopped and as I started to board the female driver said «last stop» and slammed the doors in my face. By now it was 40 minutes later and the other 10 – 12 passengers waiting had left to find other ways. I determined I was going to stop the next passing M15 no matter what and that’s just what I did by running into the street yelling at the driver to stop. I was coming from the AMC Loews Kips Bay which was a fine theatre that I won’t be able to patronize in the future because I won’t deal with this bus line again.

This bus is extremely handy. The new SBS bus allows me to travel up and down the city in a short period of time. I also love the new paying system for the SBS. It greatly lessens the amount of time that you have to spend waiting to get onto the bus. My only comment is that during rush-​hour, they need to put more buses on the route because often you wait a while for a bus, and then one arrives but it is full so then you are forced to wait for another one.

This bus:
* Is usually on time
* Runs all night
* Is a «caterpillar» bus, so it’s less likely to be crowded
I’ve been riding the M15 since before you were born, kiddies, and it was just a single-​length bus. I’ll even take it to the Upper East Side instead of a subway, because it’s usually on time – unless the president is in town or something else unusual.
I’m giving it four stars instead of five because of the cell-​phone jockeys who can’t HANG UP ALREADY.
