What would I have done without Katz Moving? One of the partners, Joe, was communicative and helpful in quoting and arranging my move from Jersey City to NYC. On the day of my move, my 3 movers were similarly communicative and pleasant.
I did not have much time to box many items in my condo and asked my movers to provide the service for me. Sure enough, they wrapped all my delicate items, etc. meticulously. My movers worked in such an efficient manner — leaving me standing around in awe and simply getting out of their way.
Upon completion of my move, I found absolutely nothing damaged and everything where I asked my movers to place them. By the following evening, I was completely settled into my new pad — a testament to how easy Katz Moving made my job.

I have moved many times without any movers — I will never make that mistake again! These guys were awesome ! They were quick but most importantly took care of our belongings ! They wrapped everything even our couch cushions and they worked really well as a team. If they didn’t feel like the could do something on their own they asked another guy to help! I really appreciated this as I watched them with some of my delicate stuff !!

Three of them showed up to move me, after PHENOMENAL customer services arranging and leading up to the day of the move. They were: A) on time, B) friendly yet ready to work and C) an amazing team that work great together.
I was most impressed by their willingness to work past 6pm to get my complicated bed frame built and set up. I’m sure others would have given up and left extra parts lying around. No this crew from Katz.
Oh, and the price — for packing and unpacking — was so much better than others I got quotes from. Truly worth every penny.
Listen, moving is stressful but not with these guys. I’m tempted to love every year now that I know about them. Ok, maybe not every year…

Six months ago the ceiling collapsed above my apartment. I almost died along with my dog. Many of my things were destroyed and what remained was covered in soot and debris. My possessions remained in my apartment for six months and continued to collect dust as I awaited relocation. It looked like a cross between an extreme hoarder and a bomb went off.
Most moving companies wouldn’t enter or they wanted to charge me several thousand dollars above a normal move rate.
Thankfully Ashton and team stepped up to the plate. Ashton gave me an honest estimate and they didn’t go a cent over after the move was completed.
Joe fielded several questions/​concerns while Ashton was busy helping other customers.
The move took two days. Kevin arrived with his packing and moving team: Charles, Jelani and Anthony on time and ready to work.
Collectively they are a mighty strong, polite, organized and a well oiled moving machine.
I was nervous about the move because of the appearance of my apartment. I feared they would disregard most of my things due to having to sift through dust and debris (including broken glass). But despite all of the apparent obstacles they treated my things and me personally with sincere care.
I wish I could give them 11 stars! Look no further if you are planning a move. These guys are top notch!

The last time we moved, we carried our clothes in garbage bags hurriedly tossed into the back of an SUV that sped off into the night. Eight years later: life’s a little better. We have some IKEA pieces that could be used for kindling in bad-​case scenarios and about four dozen boxes.
My wife makes it clear that we’re getting movers. She’s a nurse so if she gets injured moving furniture from our walk-​up, we are screwed. A coworker told me that I could do my job as a wired-​up brain in a jar. Probably.
We did research and requested quotes before going with Katz. I spoke first with Joe Falzone, who gave us a fair price and was responsive to updates as we zeroed in on an accurate inventory over the course of a month.
The day of the move itself, a four-​man team descended on our apartment slightly ahead of schedule. They called themselves «Seal Team Maine.» Despite the combat-​ready label, they were instantly likable guys with names that all began with «J»: John, Joshua, Jermaine, and Jalanie. Seal Team Maine is cooler than J-​Team, I agree.
I stared goggle-​eyed as a month’s worth of packing disappeared into their truck in about half an hour. The furniture took another 45 minutes to wrap in padding. At the new location, they asked where we wanted everything, and when they noticed that I was sleepily checking items off a spreadsheet, they knew what I needed and began calling out each box number on their own. From door to door, this display of staggeringly casual prowess took maybe four hours.
It was the biggest move of our lives and the calmest part was the move itself thanks to these guys. With the energy we saved, we unpacked and had our daughter enjoying her new room within two days. I was hoping that the process might accidentally destroy our IKEA LAK table (what an appropriate name) but everything was pristine. Thank you.

I finished a large move today and went with Katz on the glowing advice of my brother — he had said that the value, timeliness and overall experience was amazing. Since he is generally extremely hard to please so I decided to go with them.
He was not wrong. The whole experience– from the quote, initial contact and payment mechanism prior to moving was seamless. On the actual moving day the guys (jermaine and jalanie) were two of the nicest, most polite, friendly and professional movers I have ever met. They were so efficient, attentive and went out of their way to make everything extremely easy for me. I truly could not have asked for anything more… Until the price! I thought that it was a relatively small move but turned into a large one with 7 wardrobe boxes alone!!!
The value was unbelievable and half what I was quoted from other places.
I honestly could not recommend this service-​including Joe for all the behind the scenes organizing, and jermaine and jalanie for the on the day work. Moving is so painful but these guys were so fantastic !!!

Our move was the best move we’ve had. And we’ve moved a lot, exploring new neighborhoods in Queens.
Jermaine was communicative from the moment he texted he was on his way until we shook hands and ended our day. He was funny and an incredible worker. The management should be proud of them. I didn’t see John much but he was kind and Joshua was very nice and helpful all around.
I will highly recommend the communication and fairness of this place. The flat rate was fair for it being late month and based on inventory.

After all the rave reviews from all you wonderful Unilocalers, I booked Katz moving without any hestitation. From beginning to the long dragged out end, everything was great without any damages and everyone I’ve come in contact with were extremely nice and professional.
I have a tempurpedic bed with the accompanied base which is bulky and extremely heavy with a motor attached to move the head and feet up; which also means it cannot be taken apart and must be moved as one piece. During moving day, the initial crew decided it was not something they can move so we left that piece alone for the time being. I was in constant contact with Dean the entire time between texts, phone calls and emails. He is a very patient man, a quality that is hard to find in NYC. We finally rescheduled to move the bedframe a week later.
HUGE SHOUT OUT to Renaldo! Everyone in the crew was amazing but THIS guy really stood out. He took one look at it and without hestitation just said «no problem, I’ll make it work» and of course, without fail he did it with a huge smile on his face.
Thank you Katz Moving for hiring such amazing people to work for you. Moving is always stressful but having these guys with you will lighten that burden.

I used Katz Movers for my move 2 weeks ago. I highly recommend them. They were professional, came early and bent over backwards to help. The reason I used them was because I read the reviews on Unilocal

Ray and Chris were lifesavers for me on my move from the UWS to Brooklyn! They were very nice and welcoming and never had a complaint although I had huge furniture to move and a dreadful five story walk up. They definitely had their work cut out for them and were so nice and patient the entire time! ¹⁰⁄₁₀ for these guys and would recommend anyone to ask to work with them. They are kind and a wonderful team to work with!

NYC has a lot of choices for movers but Katz Moving proved to be far and above the most responsive and professional company we could have found. From the beginning they handled things perfectly and set up a quick onsite estimate. By the time Dean left I had a quote in hand and a lock on the date for our move. Dean explained the services in full and how they would handle our move. Having a fixed flat rate for the move at first seems expensive but it removes all stress that I have experienced before with hourly movers and I am sure comes in at or less than others would work out to cost. Katz also handles all paper work and deposits on-​line making for a simple process.
A week before the move Dean confirmed that the COI’s were in place for both buildings and regularly checked in with me to make sure I was ready. On the day of the move, the team was ON TIME and ready to go. They unexpectedly had to deal with a competing team for the elevator and handled it very well. The men were extremely careful and gentle with all of our things and moved very efficiently. The move in to our new place was even quicker. They dealt with our space limitations and checked in with us on where we wanted things. They were extremely patient and helpful even removing some boxes as we unpacked. We even had one old lamp base break and the team lead was very concerned about it. It was probably our fault and even then the lamp was worth very little. It just goes to show how much they cared about what they were doing.
I can’t recommend these guys enough. I have already contacted my building to make sure they are at the top of recommended movers. Great job!

The true nature of a company is not revealed when everything goes right but rather when hiccups arise.
To begin with, the two movers Katz sent were outstanding in every respect. Team Special Ops went above and beyond packing everything up and especially being patient with me while I took care of stuff I should have done long before they came through the door.
Now the hard part, they damaged a desk of mine to the point that the piece they were bringing in would not be able to attach and had to be thrown out. They were really apologetic and clearly meant it. I wasn’t thrilled especially because my new apartment is small and I could have really used the shelf space.
I let Joe at Katz Moving know what happened and instead of giving me some kind of bureaucratic run around, he just straight out offered me a partial refund going above and beyond. With other companies I’ve used, they always want an assessment, tons of pictures of the items and what broke and nothing gets resolved in less than a dozen e-mail’s. With Joe at Katz Moving, there were 3 e-mail’s, just a photo or two and and offer. You really can’t beat their level of service and wanting to please the customer. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I found Katz moving on Unilocal and filled out a form on their website requesting information and a price quote. Dean got back to me right away within the hour and gave me a breakdown of how everything works. I signed a contract that same day and was very impressed with how organized Dean was and with the quick service. On the day of the move, Kevin, Charles S, and James B came to my place– which was a one bedroom– right on time. They actually sent me a text message letting me know that they were close by and gave their ETA. Once they got to my apartment, they started to pack up the sofa, dresser, tv stand, dining set, table, and I had them pack up my kitchen cabinets and my clothes. They took about an hour and a half to do this all and asked me if they needed to know about anything. They communicated well and I really did not have to do anything. Everything was taken care for me and then they moved it to the new building I was moving into. They dropped the boxes off, took the clothes out of the hanged boxes, hung them, and unwrapped the furniture. They had labelled all of the boxes and put them in the appropriate rooms.
When I opened my kitchen boxes, I saw how my dishes, glasses, and appliances were carefully wrapped. Nothing was broken, everything was just the way as I had it in my previous apartment.
Moving can be really stressful and its important that whoever you are working with really doing things in an organized manner. Dean even called me during the move to ask me how things were going and made sure the move was going well. Their customer service was excellent and the move itself was very smooth. I HIGHLY recommend this moving company!

I’ve had a Unilocal account since 2010 and this is just my second review. Unless something is exceptionally bad/​good (see my 2010 review of eating raw chicken at Whole Foods), I’m too lazy to spend time sharing. Katz Moving is truly extraordinary, however, so I think NYC needs to know.
I’ve moved five times in as many years but had never found the perfect moving service. Despite always using movers with 4 – 5 Unilocal stars, something was inevitably broken, lost, or stolen. This year, I went with Katz, and my five year search for the best moving company is over.
From the start, service from Katz was exceptional. Katz’s management (my contact was Joe Falzone), was quick (within minutes) to respond to my initial questions about pricing and services. More importantly, unlike other companies that you won’t hear from after you put down your deposit, Joe remained in constant touch and demonstrated great flexibility. Because of my OCD personality, I exchanged over 20 emails with Joe about adding/​deleting items, describing what was fragile/​heavy, and special needs (my old apartment had cheap laminate floors that scratch easily). I’m not sure Joe sleeps because I always received a thoughtful response within the hour, even late at night. Additionally, even though I’m sure I was a particularly needy client, Joe made it a point to contact me a few days before the move to answer any last minute questions or concerns I had.
Fast forward to moving day — Jermaine, Ray, and John show up on time and get right to work. The guys quickly and carefully blanketed & plastic wrapped my furniture and removed my boxes. Then, trouble struck. I was living in a townhouse with an elevator from the 1950s. As Jermaine was bringing some furniture down, the elevator gets stuck and starts shaking up and down. We call the super, elevator company, and ultimately resort to the fire department. On a 90 degree August day — after being trapped in an airless elevator for over half an hour — Jermaine was all smiles and joked that he wished he had his Gatorade in there as FDNY pried the doors open to get him. (PS: Buy your movers Gatorade) After the calamity, the Katz movers went straight back to work.
With the elevator broken, Jermaine, Ray, and John were now in for much more work than initially expected, but they simply plowed on. There was no whining or griping as they carried the furniture and boxes — just hard work. THESE ARE THE PROFESSIONALS YOU GET WITH KATZ.
Because of the elevator, the move took over 6 hours (twice the estimate) and the guys were unloading the truck well past 9 PM. Even though I’m sure they had better things to do on a Saturday night, they did not take any shortcuts and everything was done with care. Jermaine, Ray, and John maintained their light hearted demeanor throughout the long day and put every piece of furniture where it needed to be. Nothing was broken or went missing.
The story gets better. I have a 200 lb queen box spring that would not fit in the stairwell. Covered in sweat, the guys at Katz tried all the angles for 20 minutes, but the laws of physics simply wouldn’t allow it. We were forced to abandon it at my old apartment. As we parted ways, Jermaine told me to call Joe and said he would try to help me out when the elevator was working again.
Given the absurdity of scheduling on such short notice at the peak of moving season, I almost didn’t call and started looking up chainsaws on home depot. Sure enough though, KATZ WILL BE MOVING MY BOX SPRING TODAY. It’s peak moving season. It’s the peak time of the month. Katz did not cause the problem, yet they were able to squeeze me in to help me out. PURE EXCELLENCE.
TLDR: Hire Katz for your move. They will do everything to help you.

Broke leg on my antique bookcase and pierced hole in mattress as they moved pieces into storage unit. Then refused to pay, claiming there’s no proof it was their fault. This, even in spite of clear cut photos from within the storage unit. The items weren’t even unwrapped. Need I say more?

After 2 horrific moving experiences within the last year, I told myself I should just resign to paying up for a good experience. Luckily I got both with Katz!
Dean came to survey my apartment 2 weeks prior to my desired move date, and gave me a quote on the spot. It was the second lowest quote I got from the top 5 – 10 moving companies on Unilocal,and I felt better knowing Katz’s quote was binding based on what they saw in my apartment. After I finally started packing, I was also able to give him an updated inventory list to adjust pricing right up until before the move. He made sure to confirm my date and time TWICE leading up to the date and insurance was taken care of at both buildings a week in advance.
Now on the day of the move, even though we were told we’d get 3 guys, 4 actually showed up! Joshua, John, Renaldo and Jermaine were absolutely amazing.
Nothing seemed to be too heavy for these guys and they were SO thorough in wrapping up my stuff (even the items that were already banged up from a previous move…). They were scheduled to arrive between 8:00am-8:30am, and texted me at 7:00am to let me know they’d be arriving around 8:15am and were knocking by 8:11am.
While I don’t want to ever move again I’d definitely call Katz if I did.

PROFESSIONAL during every step of our move from getting the quote to final assembly of our bed.
We were moving within Manhattan and our broker had recommended several moving companies which we called. The KATZ team was by far the BEST upfront service and they were the only company that offered a GMP (guaranteed maximum price) for our move. They were able to do so by offering FREE pre-​quote visit to assess the «volume» of the move.
Prior to our move the KATZ team cooperated extremely well with both buildings (moving in and out) in regards to providing the required COI (certificate of insurance), which is a must have for any NYC place.
On the move out/​in day, the KATZ team performed highly efficiently and they were on time and completed the move within the estimated move in time. All furniture and boxes were delivered with care and not even one broken glass. We will be using KATZ moving for our next move.

I found Katz Moving on Unilocal,as well as a few other moving companies, and inquired online in order to get quotes for my upcoming move. I had just signed a lease, and wanted to move in as soon as possible, so I set a move date for later the same week, and requested quotes from several different companies. Katz was the only company that called back to setup a move on such short notice, and the experience couldn’t have been greater.
Dean called me to determine my belongings, give an accurate quote of what I’d owe, and schedule the move. He was very friendly and made the entire process a breeze. I described all of my belongings, what I had packed, and what I hadn’t, and he requested a deposit over the phone.
A few days later, right on time, Ray, Jelani, and Steven showed up at my Hoboken apartment to begin the move. I was shocked at how quickly they were able to carefully pack and transfer my belongings to the moving truck outside. They were very friendly throughout the entire process and listened carefully to any requests I made throughout. At my new Apartment in NY, they were quick to unload the truck and carry all of my belongings up the stairs and into the locations I specified. None of my belongings were damaged in any way, as they were very careful to wrap anything that could be damaged.
The next time I move, I’ll definitely be using Katz Moving again!

There is pretty much no way around it: moving in Manhattan is an awful experience. The guys at Katz Moving make it about as bearable as possible. In the days before my scheduled move, Joe was consistently responsive to any questions I had or updates to my moving inventory, and always prompt with sending an updated quote.
I was moving from the Financial District to a one bedroom in Midtown East. The team of guys I had on moving day was Peter, James, and Jonathan. All three were remarkably efficient, careful, and hardworking. They got all of my boxes and furniture wrapped up and loaded quickly and were just as diligent with unloading at my new apartment. Katz Moving offers a class service and I am very happy about having chose them to do my recent move.

Moving sucks. But Katz is THE BEST.
Dean came to give me an in-​home estimate and was great to deal with throughout the entire move. His estimate was spot on, there are no hidden charges or fees. Dean also helped me secure all the necessary paperwork and insurance for each of my buildings. He even called to check in on me to make sure I was on track with packing.
The three movers who showed up on moving day were GREAT. They called to confirm when they were 20 minutes away. They did a great job, were courteous and funny.
