History

Established in 2011.

Couture by Sophie was founded to celebrate my Portuguese Podengo Pequeno pup, Sophie, and make beautiful one of a kind coats for her. The first coat got a lot of positive attention, the second coat, even more and Couture by Sophie was born! Now, Sophie shares being well dressed and stylish with other Couture by Sophie clients. And I feel blessed to spend each day with Sophie, to be able to design and make beautiful things and to give back to charity. 10% of each coat sold goes to the American Humane Association, which promotes a peaceful and compassionate world by helping to end abuse and neglect of children and animals.

Business Owner

As one of the early independent publicists in the music industry, Jody Miller founded

JLM Public Relations, Inc., in 1984 and, over the course of her 25 years leading the company, created and implemented seminal campaigns and events, some of them history in the making.

Jody Miller retired from entertainment PR in 2009 to pursue her passion for fashion design.

She returned to school at Parson’s School of Design, with the idea to create a couture, custom-​made label for women. But the universe had another plan. A coat she designed for her young Portuguese Podengo pup, Sophie, garnered such positive attention, that she identified an opportunity to

marry fashion design with her other passion — animals.

In 2011, Couture by Sophie was born. From its inception, Couture by Sophie has offered

Miller the best of all worlds. She designs and makes couture, custom-​made coats for dogs and she and Sophie get involved in helping animals and children.
