Asanda Aveda Spa Lounge

I have visited Asanda multiple times over the past three years both for massages and facials, and I have never been disappointed. Their technicians are always good and are often exceptional. I always leave feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. My only complaint is that you need to book well in advance for evening appointments. The salon itself is clean, airy, and bright and the service always top notch. I definitely recommend it.

As soon as I entered the salon I was greeted in a professional and cheery manner. I had a great color consultation with Anton and can’t wait to get the process done. The remainder of the staff seemed friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. I love the smell of Aveda products and will be going back for spa treatments as well.

I’ve become a regular here over the past three months and am so glad I found it! Between the great blowouts and the fantastic massages, I am a fan.
First, the blowouts are such a luxurious experience. The stylist always begins with an oil scalp massage — so decadent. I’ve gone to Elise and Alexander and both were great at their craft. I asked for a different style both times and they did a fantastic job, giving me a smooth and long-​lasting look. Not to mention they were both kind and fun, so it a relaxing getaway mid-​day.
I go to Rick for massages. The experience is fantastic. The massage rooms are quiet and peaceful and Rick is attentive and applies just the right pressure. I always leave feeling rejuvenated.
Finally, the booking process is seriously a dream. It’s really easy to book and make changes online and Daniel at the front desk excels at customer service. I’ve had a few times when I needed to make a change or book a bunch of appointments at once, and he was responsive and so helpful. My little slice of heaven in Midtown Manhattan. Love this place!

I came here 2x for the botanical treatment + blowdry (once with Kaylin, once with Kelly) and loooooved it. They didn’t skimp on product, gave a great head+neck massage as part of the service, and made my hair all bouncy, healthy and beautiful! In general, this salon and spa are great and you can’t go wrong: great service, products and even love the music they play.

I was doing double proses color and I like how my stylist Mared done everything! It’s very hrd to find a stylist who can work with blond! So for all blonde girl I will advise him!

Just had a deep tissue massage with Meeta — was AMAZING. She was very thorough and dealt with my problem areas (shoulders and beck). Feeling really great.

Kelly did exactly what I asked; my hair looks and feels great! Highly recommend getting your hair cut here. They also have a great rewards program :)

Great experience. The massage was just what I needed. Rick was fantastic – polite, professional, and gave an amazing deep tissue massage (and I usually leave my massage appointments unsatisfied because of too light pressure). I will definitely be back!

Alexander was wonderful! We chatted about what kind of color I wanted when I arrived, and he was receptive and helpful. I appreciated that he mixed the color and applied the highlights himself. He also kept up a nice flow of conversation and was friendly and sweet. The final product looked amazing — even better than I’d hoped. This was the best highlights job I’ve had in years — I will definitely be coming back to Alexander!

I highly recommend Heather for a stellar cut. She is very attentive and has great attention to detail. All in all, I’m very pleased with my flattering cut that makes my hair look healthy and suits my facial structure.

Second time they have goofed my appointment. Wait for nothing! And they don’t know what they are doing. Disorganized– and no one ever wants to take the blame. And no one to talk to.

Went there because I wanted to get a blowout for a professional head shot in the office. I made the reservation at 10am (when they open) but was a bit late because it took longer than I anticipated to get there. I got a groupon for $ 29 blowout + botanical treatment. Chrissy was my hair dresser. She asked me what I wanted and I explained it. Then she washed my hair, did a sculpt treatment (because the moisture treatment will weigh down my hair). It came out exactly how I wanted. I was very satisfied. I was very tempted in buying their dry shampoo since it is a small size when most of the time I see the big ones. But they were selling for $ 30 and I really didn’t need it.
I am going to look out for deals for this spa if I need anything else. I loved it!

I had an awesome hair service today with Mareo. He was professional, friendly & knowledgable. I love my color & blow-​out.
Asande is consistent with their easy booking availability and service.

First time at Asanda and I will definitely be back! I got a cut with Anton and partial highlight with Lily, and both turned out great. Lily hit the exact golden shade I wanted and sectioned my hair for highlights perfectly, so that the highlights were visible with my curls but still looked natural. Anton understood exactly what I wanted with my cut – to grow my hair but still give it shape. He barely took any length off and evened out the ends, taking into consideration the look if I wore it straight or curly. Couldn’t be more pleased!
On top of the quality of services, everyone at Asanda was incredibly friendly and helpful! Everything you would expect from an Aveda salon.

I have been to Asanda Aveda Salon twice. The first time I was getting a haircut only — but a pretty daring one from what I am used to. Celine did a fantastic job, leaving me very happy.
When attempting to schedule my next appointment, including a full head of highlights and a haircut, I selected a stylist off of availability. When I arrived, I was greeted by Elise. I cannot say it enough. I AM SO HAPPY WE FOUND EACH OTHER! Elise was absolutely fantastic. I have not loved my hair this much… maybe ever. I am thrilled I was able to have such a wonderful experience, and look forward to future meetings with Elise. She is kind, interesting, extremely talented, and a true caretaker of hair. I consider myself very picky, so I am thrilled with the quality of my hair after the visit, the thoughtful haircut, and most of all — the gorgeous blend of blonde.

Probably like most of theirs clients (including myself) came there with a groupon promotion:)) My appointment was kind of late and my hair stylist Rebecca seem to be a bit tired as well
It was first time in my life when after a hair cut I came back home with a pony tail, because it looked so bad She made a lot of layers and cut shorter then I asked for. Also in the end she tried to «style» my hair a bit, but it came out looking even worse. Definitely won’t be coming back there again. Giving two stars for the tidiness of the salon, and pleasant experience with the reception.

Will is the best! Since the first minute we were talking like old best friends and the results were amazing! Exactly what I asked for! We did a Balayage and my hair couldn’t look prettier. He left me feeling like a bombshell! I’m so glad I chose him as my hairdresser.

I had a signature classic facial with Laura and it was fantastic. She was friendly, informative. And I already booked next month’s facial with her again.
I have an Asanda Aveda membership and love going every month for either a massage or facial. The tea there is always great. I bought a box of their tea bags to have at home.
After the facial, Laura recommended products that I could add to my daily routine. I bought the Aveda enbrightenment crème and the tourmaline charged exfoliating cleanser.
Definitely recommend this place for your future pamper days.

This is probably one of the best salons I have ever been to. It was my first time and definitely not my last!
As soon as I walked in they offered me water or tea during my wait.
Kelly, my stylist gave me the best stress relieving massage before starting off my balayage! Everyone here was very nice and as I said before I will definitely be coming back!

I wish I never ever had anything to do with Asanda and wish I had read all the reviews I found on the Internet and followed the advice of all other unhappy customers to avoid this place, so I guess there are reasons why places are so discounted. All the time.
But instead I thought I’d give it a go anyway. Because it was cheap.
To start with, their over the phone booking system is a pain. It’s a call centre, so you can’t just give the actual salon a call. You have to speak to someone somewhere else.
Secondly there is no way to contact them unless It’s through the call centre or in person to make a complaint.
A few months ago I got a balayage done and it was ok at the time. You couldn’t tell I had anything done unless I had the sun on my hair but my hair is dark.
There were a few things that I wasn’t happy with at the time but the guy who did my hair was nice so I didn’t want to make any issues of anything that I felt negative at the time.
For example– he left me before my hair was done to start on another customer, and only returned at the end before I was about to pay, to tell me all the hair products in their shop I needed to buy.
Also, when I was at the wash /​sink it was really uncomfortable. I don’t know why but I needed to use my neck to hold my head up instead of resting it on the basin. I was there for about 5 – 10 mins which killed my neck.
I wish I did give my negative feedback back then so I’d know how bad management is about with bad reviews. I didn’t find out until recently, after my husband got his massage from there. Asanda management looked my husband up on the Internet, found his workplace and called the switchboard to speak to him (re: my Unilocal review) Creepy!
And when I spoke to the manager about it, he was unprofessional and aggressive. He threatened me (said he’d make my review page 6 review, have reporters coming to my door, telling my clients about me, etc) if I did not remove my post (which was removed by Unilocal later after they reported it) — which is fair — they seem to want two negative, 1 star reviews instead of just one.
While the service was ok (worth the discounted price– definitely not worth full price) — I feel the way my complaint was managed was the most damaging to the business.
