A Taste Of Magic

Had my family in for a week and we planned this evening for 8 of us. This particular night we were at Dock’s restaurant. The restaurant staff was wonderful but I can’t say enough about the magicians. What a wonderful intimate evening of magic. All night long a sleight of hand/​close up magician comes to the table and entertains us and dares us to see the magic. Each and every magician was hilarious and talented. If you are looking for something special and different, this is it. I will definitely go again.

I had googled «fun things to do in NYC» and was led to «A Taste of Magic». We had a large group of differing ages and this sounded like a fun experience. None of us was disappointed! We sat in a private room at Dock’s on 3^rd Ave. with other participants. The food and service were both great. The magicians rotated from table to table performing dazzling close up magic tricks between courses — they were all very entertaining! Lots of opportunity for audience participation made it extra special. Eli Bosnick, the manager of the event, was most helpful and responsive when we had questions. I recommend this for all ages.

Read a lot of good reviews about this place so I took my husband here for his birthday since he loves magic. The show was held at Gossip bar and the 3 course meal served was just typical bar food. The wait staff was all right. They were kind of slow. Maybe the other restaurants would be better. However, you are really there for the show and that’s why i gave this place 5 stars! There 4 magicians and 1 host. They did really cool tricks from cards to coins to mind reading. Jason Suran was really good! Hope you have him for your session. Each of them would come to our table do a bunch of tricks. Only 2 of the magicians were on their website. Not sure if tue other 3 are just fillers? Great place to go for a special occasion. Would definitely go back to check out the other shows!

Perfect entertainment for kids and adults! We had a great time watching card tricks, coin tricks and being stumped by the amazing mind reading. How did they do it we kept asking ourselves? Great value for a dinner and a show. Six different magicians come to your table to entertain you up close. Eli Bosnick was a great host, comedian and amazing mentalist. It was so good we tipped all the magicians.

I brought my parents to this and we all loved it! It was so entertaining and the food, waiter and magicians were awesome!
This would be great for a date night too.

What a wonderful fun night! We went to the show at gossip restaurant. The magician magic are awesome! At first we though it was just going to be card magic and we got worried but it was way more impressive than that! Come here with friends your going to enjoy the eve! We had the VIP tickets and were very happy.

I paid $ 64 to attend the Séance presented by a Taste of Magic. I left feeling disappointed. Was looking for something spooky to do right before Halloween and this seemed like the perfect thing. I was sadly mistaken. I felt the show concentrated too much on explanations of séance practices throughout history and not enough on the actual tricks being performed. I had trouble hearing the performer and the recordings that were played. The whole show only lasted 45 minutes. None of the tricks were impressive. Mostly, I feel that $ 64 is way too much for this show. I would be less disappointed if I had only paid $ 20. Based on this performance, I would not not waste my time or money going to any of the other A Taste of Magic shows.

I went to the séance presented by a taste of magic. If you fear spoilers, just look at the one star and don’t read further, but I’ll try to keep them minimal. Anyhow, if this had been billed ’ a lecture on mediums, seances, and the folklore of communicating with the dead’ I might have paid around twenty bucks for it and walked away feeling somewhat unscathed. But to bill something as a séance and charge sixty bucks for it, I feel like I would have had a more spectacular experience just lighting my money on fire. I wasn’t expecting to walk away a believer at all, but was at least hoping for an approximation of what a real séance might be like. (Or bare minimum be a tiny bit scared or impressed somehow) Rather, there were a few tricks here and there that mildly made me wonder how they were done, but I feel like with only a few minutes of research could figure them out. Most were just poorly executed and borderline hokey. The ghost story about the space is easy enough to find out is total bullshit. The actual séance portion of the SEANCE lasted approximately three minutes. The entire ‘presentation’ for lack of a better word, 45 min. During the history portion of the talk there was a lot if mention about how the greatest mediums from back in the day were self admittedly total hoaxes and they couldn’t believe they were getting away with ripping people off like that. If that was the objective, to make us feel the irony of our stupidity for giving our money to this laughably bad «séance», then I suppose that’s clever and mission accomplished. But I think they actually believe they are putting on a good show? Also just got a text from my friend saying a few of the people listed as performers on the taste of magic website look suspiciously like the people attending tonight. (after looking myself yes, at least two of the eight (though I suspect 4) people attending the séance were absolutely people that work at A Taste of Magic. And knowing this blows any last vestige of mystery as to how they pulled off any tricks, not that there was much mystery of mastery to them to begin with.). God… I feel so utterly dumb for buying this ticket…
You know what would have been cool? to actually sit around a table and have a fucking séance for more than three minutes. To suspend disbelief and think we are communicating with the dead, draw it out, get freaky and emotional and weird and leave wondering what the hell just happened?. I didn’t go expecting a history lesson… If we had at least gotten to do that I wouldn’t even care that at least a quarter of the people there were plants.
Suffice it to say, don’t waste your money. $ 60+ for that was highway robbery.

Even better then expected! Our family had such a great time with these talented, engaging magicians. The food was fantastic at Docks and the entertainment even better. The evening had a very nice balance of entertainment, time to eat and enjoy the people in my dining party. Will definitely be back for more entertainment the next time we visit NYC!

Great with my ten year old beginner magician! Very fair pricing and awesome atmosphere. Love the Harry Houdini museum. We will be back again and again!

Amazing show! Definitely would recommend and go again myself. Wish I got to see all 6 of the magicians and definitely a unique and pleasant experience.

Totally unique experience with table side magic and a variety of magicians. Was fun to see what each had to offer. Great value for a three course meal with entertainment. Would make a fun girls night out or a date.

What a fun experience and atmosphere! I came here with a group of friends and the magic was mind blowing. The food was pretty good and 3 – 4 magician s came to our table and performed card tricks. Definitely something worth doing and I will come back here again :)

I know it seems strange there are so many 5 star reviews, but It really is a great experience if you like magic. Our dinner was at Docks Oyster Bar and they had really great food. The magicians come around to each table, and I think we had about 3 – 4 magicians come to our table. You don’t get to experience every magician but that’s okay, it just means we have to go back! The host was really funny and we had a great time. Really fun thing to do with any age, there was one young kid there.

What a great night! Fun atmosphere, really impressive magicians, and good food. I’m so happy we came and would come back in a heartbeat any time.
The experience easily could have earned five stars, except the food wasn’t enjoyed by everyone in our group. One of us said the server was a little unpleasant but everyone has busy/​stressed nights. Food wise, the burger and the fish n’ chips were the two favorites. I would go again or recommend it to others without hesitation.
Now that the evening is over and I’m trying to remember who we saw, I wish the magicians had each put a business card on the table! Such an easy way to remember the name (s) of the ones we liked and they increase can their fanbase and following on social media.
Go! You’ll smile and laugh and wonder, «How did they do that??»… and will enjoy yourself, without question.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The tricks are really amazing! Food is awesome as well. close-​up magic show is really eye-​opening and interactive. Please come to the show! The host is really entertaining as well.

Went to a show at Gossip Grill with my family as a treat for my little brother who loves magic. The second floor was reserved for the show and there was a crowd of all ages.
The staff was so welcoming and responsive even through email when I wanted an additional ticket. The magicians were spectacular and I loved how each table got a specific magician between each course.
Would highly recommend!

AMAZINGGGG PLACE!.. Very entertaining and great service. Best bang for your buck in doing something different and having a great night. My friends and I went for my surprise engagement proposal and the team there made it extremely special and were a great help. Good for a date night, kids or family night out. Dinner and a show! Great time laughing and being entertained by talented magicians. In between salad, entrée and dessert, magicians travel around the room to showcase their tricks at your table.
What to expect: A lot of card tricks along with your tasty bar food.
Our table’s gripe: We got a feeling that magicians would purposely pass our table. Their body would be turned toward our table. They would look at our table. Pause to have a good look, then walk to another table. It wasn’t as if it was a glance; they had a good look and then moved to another table.
Overall, I would recommend Taste of Magic for a group or even a date.

I had an amazing evening at A Taste Of Magic. I came here for a date night with my boyfriend and we were beyond entertained. Our ticket included dinner and the show. I loved it for a few reasons:
1. It’s so well timed. It opens with Kent introducing the evening and doing a few magic tricks. A magician comes to your table for up close entertainment– then the first course. The plates are cleared, Kent does another trick, then a different magician comes to your table– then more food. Seriously, what else could you ask for? Entertainment, then food, then repeat and repeat and repeat for the appetizer, main, dessert.
2. The magicians are GOOD. While there were some kids there– this is an all-​ages show. I think I shrieked ‘what?!? how’d you do that?!!’ at least three dozen times. Not only are they good at their tricks, but they are very personable (introducing themselves, shaking your hand, and have funny stories to go along with their magic). I know there were more — but big thanks to Noah and Eli and Eric and Mark for being super awesome.
3. The food is tasty! They partnered with Gossip restaurant for the show I went to and while I didn’t expect a 5-​star meal, I was pleased with the food and more pleased with the 10-​star entertainment
4. Unlike the other magic shows I’ve been to (where you are in an assigned seat and watch a show) — here you can have a really nice date night. Converse with who you’re with between entertainers. You share a table with other people — and we were seated with two really nice guys (who were as entertained as us).
5. Huge value for your money. I’d be willing to pay double for what I got.
A taste of magic– I’ll definitely be recommending this to all my friends. 5 stars!
