Tried to give them another chance for dinner tonight. Their hours today are till 9pm. It’s 7:50pm and they are closed again! This is not how you run a business.

NOMNOMNOM! OMG this was soooooooo good! I found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I thought it was a restaurant but it’s a take-out set up. I’m sure if I read thru more reviews I would have found that out. I just ate on the beach down the block. But, nevertheless, this place is really good. Everything was fresh to order. I had a moment to speak with the owner and she is such a sweetheart. They have been here for 15 years, praying they have many more because I really enjoyed my sushi, crunchy shrimp tempura. Don’t pass this place up!

It’s so little, but the fish and the service were great. Ordered an all tuna sashimi salad, and it was great. Definitely not sized to handle more than two groups of diners total, the best bet would be to do take-out.

Went here the first time based on a co-worker’s recommendation. Went back again a week later cause I liked it so much. Their chirashi sashimi pieces are healthy sized. 2 maguro(tuna), 2 sake(salmon), 2 white fish(not sure), 1 seared fish, scallops, shrimp, and some ginger/cucumber/greens on a bed of sushi rice. The second time I went, I tried their crunchy shrimp tempura roll. delish! It looks like it is being run by(and likely owned by?) a man ans woman who appear to be both very gentle and kind.

Consistently amazing food. They have a simple and straightforward menu but everything is fresh and perfectly prepared. We live close and have been ordering to-go about once a week for the past few years. I have been happy every single time. Huge fan of: Spicy tuna crunch roll, shrimp tempura crunch roll, salmon lovers roll, yellowtail chirashi bowl. Oh yeah, their miso soup is AWESOME!

TIP #1: order to go and expect it to take an hour to be ready. There are very few seats in the actual restaurant. It is set up mostly for take out. Very small place. TIP #2: expect to be ignored when walking in. You may not be greeted or even approached. You may have to initiate that. That’s why I recommend ordering take out. The food is good, fresh, and reasonably priced. They give large portions. I usually get the sashimi salad, yellowtail roll or some kind of tempura roll. Their miso soup is amazing! Different than any miso you’ll ever have. When you actually get the attention of one of the owners(only two who work there, they are a couple), they are very nice. Just inattentive.

I was in SoCal for a business trip and decided to give this place a try based on its high Unilocal rating. When I first walked in, I walked right out again because I thought that I had gone to the wrong place. The first impression is not that of a restaurant at all! All you see is a display counter of little figurines and tea pots. But when I went back in after confirming the address, I saw that there were in fact 4 high-back chairs for individual dining. So yes, it seats all of 4 people in total, and even then it’s split 2 on one side and 2 on the other side, so it seems that they must rely on a lot of takeout business. Anyway, after my initial confusion about the décor, I did end up having a meal there and I have to say that it was one of the best meals that I’ve ever had. I ordered two rolls(crunchy spicy tuna roll and rainbow roll) as well as a bowl of spicy miso ramen. I got the ramen because at a lot of sushi places the rolls are small and dainty and two wouldn’t be enough to fill me up, but these were very generously sized and I’ll be honest I was pretty full after the two rolls. But then the spicy miso ramen came out and was so delicious that I shoved the whole bowl down. I was so full afterward that I could barely walk, but it was worth it! It’s obviously not for large groups but if you’re by yourself or if you go as a couple, I can’t recommend this place enough. I happened to go at 6PM on a weeknight and there wasn’t any wait, but I can imagine that on a weekend evening or later on a weeknight, there could be a long wait given the lack of seating. I agree with what everyone else says about the total lack of parking in this part of Manhattan Beach, but that’s not their fault and it’s the same problem for all businesses along this stretch.

This is the worst sushi ever! I got sick for 2 days so if you want to lose weight eat here and get food poisoned. Terrible sushi!

We ordered 5 different rolls from the menu to-go and all of them were very good. Ran by an elderly couple that were hospitable, warm and polite. My only two complaints are that there is absolutely no street parking available. Four blocks south and west of this establishment is a public parking lot with lots of metered parking available. So even though this place looks like the type that you could go in and then out from immediately, it is not. This would not be a problem had it not been for the next complaint… There is very limited seating. And the 3 on the inside and 4 on the outside were reserved when we visited so we had to take our food somewhere else to eat. I wish I could have eaten on the sidewalk but I think I reached the point in my life where sitting down on the sidewalk in my office clothes with my legs sticking out on the street is… unacceptable.

Can’t say enough about this little hidden treasure! It is a small, family run establishment and everything is made with love and the highest quality ingredients. I cannot get enough of the spicy ramen and yellowtail(sushi, sashimi, roll, you name it), but they have something for everyone. It isn’t inexpensive/cheap and they don’t have a gimmicky«happy hour» but I don’t mind paying when it’s high quality and consistently delicious! Tip #1: They get really busy at night so if you get a craving order early because they will stop taking orders. Tip #2: It is tiny and parking can be a struggle by the beach, so we would usually walk and pick up our take out.

This place is adorable! It’s perfect for those chilly nights when you want an escape into a warm bowl of noodles. The restaurant is small, and looks like a bakery of sorts, with four small bar seats. There are multiple lucky cat figures dispersed around the place. The lady who served me was so, so sweet. She made sure I had everything, repeatedly. I treated myself to tuna sushi, which tasted fresh, and had the perfect rice consistency. I also had the spicy miso ramen. The noodles, the broth, it may be my favorite miso ramen yet.

Tried the crunchy spicy tuna roll. It’s a yummy non fancy to-go sushi. This isn’t the place to enjoy a whole sushi experience watching the chefs or anything. There’s only like 2 – 4 seats inside. I would eat it more if there were easier street parking around. Since it’s on Highland sometimes parking suuucks.

I was immediately drawn to this place due to the Unilocal rating, the name(I’m a Pisces), and location. I actually love how small and quaint Pisces Sushi is! It’s cosy. I’m sure most people take out their food as there are two seats inside and two seats outside. I chose to sit inside. Sara, the lady who took my order, is incredibly delightful and friendly. She has a wonderful smile! I ordered a rainbow roll and hot green tea, and I’m in love. The fish was incredibly fresh and delectable. I was given plenty of ginger too, which I’m a fan of. Ginger has a wonderful kick and is a excellent palate cleanser. The green tea was refreshing and made me smile multiple times. I will definitely be back!

To start, I am not a local and I don’t have any other sushi place to compare this to in the LA area. I travel a ton and have sushi at least once everywhere I go. This was my choice due to the Unilocal reviews. I had absolutely no wait and was able to sit inside but I came at an off hour on a Wednesday. Since there are only 4 seats inside(and not comfortable at all if 4 people were actually seated) and 1 table for 2 outside. You are not seated at a sushi bar so if you enjoy talking to the chef while enjoying sushi, this isn’t the place. The food was average. I had a spicy tuna hand roll, albacore sashimi and scallop nigiri. The albacore was the best of all 3 and portions were fair for the price. There is a restroom but you have to go into the kitchen to use it. Overall, I wasn’t super impressed or disappointed. If I come back to this area, I wouldn’t feel compelled to come back as I would want to see if there was something better in the area.

Hit or miss with the service, wait time, communication and if hey run out of rice or not. If you order, they run out of rice, you go pick up, they tell you no more rice which then means no more maki or nigiri. So no dinner. Other times the food is well perfectly. Be prepared! When they say thirty minutes and they’ll call you when it’s ready… It will be more like an hour or more and it’s usually not ready!

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW… WOW! Yea, it’s THAT good. This place is really deceiving. It looks nothing like a restaurant. This place was an experience! You walk in to what looks like an Asian glassware store? There’s nothing that really resembles a sit down restaurant, but that is the absolutely beauty in this establishment. The locals know all too well that this is one of the best sushi places in all of the South Bay. It’s a hidden gem. As soon as you come in you are greeted by the nicest Asian woman who is completely 100% dedicated to making your experience the very best. She will hand you menus and in our case, we picked two similar rolls, instead she suggested we try the Shrimp Tempura CRUNCHY Roll! Wow, we are so glad we did, it was out of this world and I have been to so many sushi places. There is a window inside with drapes where the chef prepares your order. We ordered two rolls and asked for cold water to drink. There are only 4 seats inside so it is VERY intimate. Two seats looking out toward the street and two that face the window where the chef is preparing the food. There is also a table outside that has two chairs, but if you come with more people the lady will come out with folding chairs(I watched this happen) and make sure you have enough for everyone. I can’t tell you how great this place is, you must see for yourself. Street Parking.

I love supporting mom and pop shops and I reckon residents of Manhattan Beach do, too. Pisces Sushi is a tiny joint run by a Japanese couple with the wife manning the front if she’s not busy in the back helping her better half in the kitchen. Just ring the bell if no one is in sight and she’ll be right out. As far as seating is concerned, two counters with two bar stools are what you’ll find inside and a table for 4 outside. No wonder loyal patrons mainly order their rolls to-go, as should you. You heard me right, I said rolls. Though they offer chirashi bowls and sashimi, I’m going to judge based on the look of things that they are known for sushi rolls more than anything. Prices range from $ 8.95 to $ 10.95 per order with 8 pieces each. We indulged ourselves in SPICYTUNACRUNCHY, SHRIMPTEMPURACRUNCHY, SALMONROLL, and SPICYSCALLOPROLL. All having several common denominators: they each had the house spicy sauce drizzled on top, rice to fish ratio was excellent, seafood was evidently fresh, and everything was satisfyingly above average in taste. This neighborhood gem is one I wish we have in Irvine.

Yummy sushi place in north Manhattan. Great for takeout as they have very limited seating(I mean 4 bar seats inside and 2 outside seats at a table). Still, very delicious rolls and seaweed salad. So much salmon in the salmon rolls, delicious and very worth the price!

Our family discovered this place back in early 2006 and became regulars for the next 8 years. Sara & Yoshi are the cutest married couple and they aren’t pretentious and keep it simple. Always fantastic service. I have to apologize for anyone that was in line in front of us and thought they were cut off because our order was brought out to us first. Haha! Parking is terrible around here(only 3 metered spots up front), otherwise you are parking further away and walking. There’s only 4? stools inside, so we always call ahead to take-out. They have a fridge inside where you can buy a few items(soda or mochi). So why 5 stars? Their limited sushi menu can make the pseudo sushi fan(California roll type) or sushi snob happy. We have tried everything on the menu and there have been no complaints. In fact, we have placed large orders for parties through them. Things our family has loved: Spicy Tuna Crunchy(this item was in the highest demand in our house) Miso Soup(there’s is a stand out) Yellowtail Gyoza Tempura Salad(I like their sesame dressing) The only complaint you will have is that there are only 2 of them so they can get backed up. Also, one time Yoshi cut his hand and they were closed for a bit. Finally, they usually take a trip to Japan in August. Our household cries that we have moved far away. Wah!

Pisces Sushi is super duper delish! We visited Pisces for lunch & dined-in at their only table, which is outside. This isn’t a place for groups since the table only seats two people! Either way it was a beautiful day in Manhattan Beach & the sushi was so yum. Portions are large & the fish is very fresh! Pisces is actually ideal for quality take-out sushi. Since there’s really no dine-in space, Pisces gets 4 stars rather than 5.
