Grace Marie’s Kitchen

I’ve only gone to two Grace-Marie’s kitchen/​cooking demos. Both were Halloween-​oriented. The first one was in 2010 for a Halloween Tea and the second was just last week for the Day of the Dead dinner. I love these get-​togethers! You get to watch Grace make wonderful food — you get to eat this wonderful food and Grace always throws in cooking hints that I find very helpful. I cook everyday and am always interested in info that can help me.
I would also like to say that I signed up for a cooking class and when I arrived I realized the menu was not something that interested me at all. I had paid, but asked Grace if I could bow out and return for another class. No fuss or muss, my gift card was returned with a smile. Grace-​Marie is a class-​act! MaryO

I have been attending Grace Marie’s classes for many years, beginning with the lunch classes. My husband and I have attended her dinner classes at least once a month, as do our friends, for at least 5 years-​maybe longer. You could not ask for a more personable, knowledgable, helpful instructor. She is open to any questions or ideas at any time.
As far as her relationship with the volunteers, it is a loving, caring relationship, full of good humored teasing, much as with one’s family. Those of us who attend regularly do feel like family-​she teases us as well. Could there possibly be a better relationship?
Ana, I’m sorry you feel the way you do-​you are missing out on a lot. On the other hand, I’m glad you won’t be coming back to spoil it for the rest of us.

All I can say is I have been taking GraceMarie’s cooking classes twice a month for the past 13 years. Need I say more? Perhaps for all those sensitive newbies that do not get the special relationship she has with the friends that help her, an explanation. They are not just volunteers they are friends and are there because they like to hang out with her. There is a special sense of humor that goes on among friends. We, the regulars that love her class, know it.
Also you must remember this is a cooking class, not a restaurant, yet she still goes above and beyond to accommodate special request which is very time consuming. Imagine if one does not want horseradish and the other no mayo and the 3^rd no mustard and the fourth no salt and so on… guess how long it will take to serve and please them all…
The classes give loads of information and are fun to attend. If you are too sensitive and have an issue with her sense of humor, do us all a favor, do not spoil it for the rest of us,. go elsewhere.

My friends and I have been taking Grace’s classes for years. First let me say, I have also volunteered behind the scenes and know the people who volunteer. I am addressing Anna’s comment by letting her know that these men and women would not work with Grace if she mistreated them. Grace has a great sense of humor and anything that was said, was said in jest. The people who volunteer enjoy working with her and get to take food home with them. My friends and I have learned so much from her and have been exposed to great food and recipes we’d never have made had it not been for Grace’s classes. The atmosphere in the cooking classes is light, easy going, fun, and informative. For the price, you cannot get all this wonderful info, great tasting food and camaraderie anywhere else.

I came here for the first time a few months ago for one of the Saturday «Tea» classes, and loved it! Grace Marie is funny, passionate, and knowledgeable. The food was absolutely delicious! I wish I could afford to come more often.

Grace Marie is truly an inspirational chef. My mother has been attending her classes at Bristol Farms for the past 7 years. After attending a few here and there when I was visiting I was hooked! When I moved back to Los Angeles I insisted I go to every Tuesday for the «Dinner at 6». The time, place, and most importantly price could not be anymore convenient. You truly get your moneys worth. I always end up taking my delicious left overs to work the next day.
Each class has a perfectly thought out theme and delectable menu. Not only is Grace Marie health conscious, but she takes the time to accommodate my religious preferences not to eat pork or shell fish. She always has a special option for those special students as long as you let her know in advance.
I HIGHLY recommend taking a class with Grace Marie!

Grace Marie’s food is delicious, and her cooking style is infectious. I want to get home after each class, and try to cook at least one thing I learned that day. Grace, herself, is friendly, personable, and fun to listen to. I have tried so many foods that I would never attempt before. She has opened my mind and palate to many new tastes.
