Business Owner

Cynthia Adkins combined her sales and marketing experience with lots of enthusiasm to create A Legendary Affair in November of 1996. Cynthia started her 12 year career in hotel sales and marketing soon after graduation from UC Santa Barbara. Her 6 year position as National Sales Manager for The Ritz-​Carlton Hotel Company taught her the importance of personalized service, quality, and attention to detail. When she and her contemporary’s planned weddings and parties she recognized the need for a service like A Legendary Affair to assist busy people planning big events! She loves what she does and it shows in the TLC she provides her clients and the event professionals of A Legendary Affair.

At first we thought we would just get our invitations online, like so many of our other friends had. However, we realized that it was a daunting task as there are 20 different styles of paper, shades of white, fonts; plus online sounds cheaper, but once you start adding each card (invitation, rsvp, details, etc) it gets pretty costly. We ordered a few samples and we didn’t like anything. What we saw online was different than what we kept receiving.
So, we found Cynthia! She was patient with us and walked us through the entire process, from showing us her vast selection of invitations (we could actually TOUCH the paper! SEE the colors and fonts!) to helping us proof-​read our wording, she was great! everything was timely and smooth.
Our invitations came out gorgeous and we got tons of compliments on it!
The truth is that an invitation sets the tone of the wedding, it is the first thing guests see (other than the Save the Dates, if you choose to do those, but Save The Dates you can have fun with using pictures and all).
Cynthia is great! Highly recommend her!

As a man, I never thought about the planning of my wedding. When the time came to start working on our big day my wife and I looked for a planner near Manhattan Beach. We found Katie Tiffany of A Legendary Affair. I have to say she was great. She directed us to all the necessary vendors, the caterer as well as florist and disc jockey.
Katie was wonderful, fun and totally into it. She was there hours before and stayed through the whole event. I wholeheartedly recommend Katie, she is the best.

If I could give Cynthia more stars I would. If you are planning a wedding (or other major event requiring awesome invitations or coordination) come here first! I originally thought I would do my wedding invitations on the cheap side by doing them online, but went to A Legendary Affair to see my other options. Cynthia listened to me and my mom and put together the most incredible invitations. They were a little more than doing them online, but the quality and the piece of mind knowing that they were going to be correct was priceless.
After using A Legendary Affair for our invitations, I went through them for everything else I needed. This is your one-​stop shop for wedding planning without being overwhelming.
Seriously cannot say enough wonderful things about Cynthia. I wish I could have her oversee every aspect of my life!

I looked up Cynthia Adkins at A Legendary Affair on the web for wedding invitations, and got SO much more! We only had six months to plan our wedding, and by the time I found Cynthia, I had only 2 to 3 months left, and she was a godsend! She had the best selection of invitations, knows the vendors in and out, and had the best prices! And our invitations were top shelf! Beyond the amazing invitations and her personal attention, she saw my time constraints with work and the wedding and had stuffed the wedding invitations herself by the time I picked them up! That was beyond incredible! She also is a tremendous resource for just about everything for a wedding. As a small example, she set me up with an amazing wedding coordinator, Katie Tiffany, and a florist that was to die for, Ezai Flowers in Santa Monica. They, and her, were such a blessing to me, and I am so happy I found Cynthia. She really helped make the wedding an incredible event!

The Very First Place You Should Go When Planning Your Wedding!
You could plan your entire wedding here in one afternoon. This showroom features every different kind of wedding vendor you will need. (there are even some dresses…) All of the vendors have excellent reputations. Cynthia, the owner knows everything about wedding trends and etiquette. She also specializes in invitations. Our invitations, DJ, videographer, wedding planner and caterer came from here. We would have hired a photographer and florist from here too, but we used family members for these. We had a great experience with all of our vendors.
In the showroom there are also tons of books and and magazines to look through for inspiration. There are also some great products like a name change kit and bridesmaids gifts.
