History

Established in 1929.

Rice Tire Company is dedicated to serving retail, commercial, and wholesale clients in Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. Donald B. Rice, Sr. went into business in 1929, opening a gulf service station on South Market Street in Frederick, Maryland.

As a one-​man shop, he earned a reputation for honesty and good service. In order to accommodate the growing local market for large construction and commercial vehicle tires, Donald Rice expanded his business in 1956.

Donald Rice, Sr. passed away in 1987. Ken Rice, Chairman of Rice Tire Company and the youngest of Donald Rice’s three sons, has carried on in his father’s tradition since 1975. The company is now run by a management team led by Ken’s son in law, CEO Chris Chase.
