F. H. Furr Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Electrical

Needed to move a washer and dryer from the kitchen back to where it used to be in the basement. Just had one electrical outlet updated (30 to 40) for the dryer and moved and for the washing machine to be reconnected to pipes that now connected to a work sink. They also closed up the old connection to the old washing machine spot in the kitchen. Cost = $ 1,700 and that did not include connecting the dryer vent nor moving the washer and dryer from one spot to the other. I was already feeling so very robbed when another contractor came out a day later to bid on the job (forgot to cancel their appointment). I didn’t tell them how much we spent, they bid $ 500 for the same exact job. Again, feeling robbed. Then, use said washing machine and it spews water everywhere. Ask them to return and fix it and they insisted on charging me more — another $ 200 — to replace plastic hoses on the washing machine. Grand toltal $ 1900 for one plug and to connect flexible piping between a washing machine and existing pipes. Never again F.H. Furr, never again.

Rashid and Jonnie did an excellent job! We basically needed everything replaced which was a huge undertaking but they managed to get it done in one day. They were on time, professional and knowledgeable. I couldn’t be more pleased with this experience.
The whole process from getting an estimate to signing the contract and completing the job was so smooth and finished in about a week even with the snow.

I recently had F.H. Furr install a gas furnace to replace a 45 yo unit. Also had the 22 yo AC unit replaced. Went with Furr because of their affiliation with Costco. Shawn Kelly came out and spent a lot of time with us explaining the various options. We selected the units and signed off on the contracts. What was irritating (and why I didn’t give 5 stars) was that we were told there was a $ 500 Pepco rebate before we signed, and later informed that didn’t apply to the units we purchased. I will say the installers were excellent. Rashid Procter and Jonnie came right on time, explained what they were going to do and how long it would take, and got to work. No issues, they were professional and courteous, went about the work, neat and tidy, left no mess, and were done when they said they would be. They explained everything clearly, answered my inane questions, and were very pleasant. Couldn’t be more pleased with that end of things. Unit is currently working like a charm, and extremely quiet. Only been a couple of days, so don’t have anything to add about the quality of the product.

I purchased 13 000 $ HVAC system from this company. Install day comes … I was told the team will be at my house 9 – 10.00, team arrives 10.25am. I was told they will be done by 5 pm they left after 9.00 pm. 10pm my Brand NEW system NOT working !!! I called emergency number because mistake happens, right? NO emergency service available. I called the guy installing the system– Rashid (great guy for answering his phone at 11+ pm) he told me his supervisor wasn’t available until 7am, after trying to troubleshoot the system.
Paid 13k+ $ to company which left my two kids (one of which 1 month old) COLD with no HEAT the first night of brand new LENOX furnace !

18 months ago I had a new heat pump system installed in my home. The price quoted for a new Lennox system was fair and they offered zero percent financing options. The system was installed quickly and they cleaned up after themselves. That is where the positive experience ends.
About a month after install the system stopped working and someone came and told me that I basically just need to flip the circuit breaker on and off. 8 months later system stops working again and the tech accused us of breaking a part of the air handler. $ 120 visit. Now 18 months after install with the labor warranty expired, the compressor has seized and I need to pay $ 1600 to have them replace it. I would have given it one star if not for the fact that 2 of the three techs that came to my house where very professional and empathized with our situation.
Prior to all of this we had a Bryant system that lasted almost 22 years with no issues up until the day it stopped working.
I understand that this company only installs the product they don’t make them. But this was the product they chose to push to customers so if the product is junk then it’s still a reflection on them.

Well was asked to send my info to some customer care person thinking that just maybe they might do something that might remedy something. Nope got an e-​mail back saying someone would be in touch with me but it never happened. So the tech came back, who I will say was very professional and polite, and $ 1400 later my 18 month old heat pump is back working. If I were to convey anything from all this its to be skeptical of any company pushing Lennox products.

Caution! Very expensive! Make sure you get other quotes before settling. They replaced my injector pump in my basement and it cost 2k more than other plumbers. Didn’t seal the damn thing either, ended up having more work done through another company and they completed the job!

I was able to schedule a next day appointment for an A/​C inspection with no problem at all. A representative called me when a tech was 20 mins away. The tech (Juan B.) arrived at noon which was right at the beginning of the promised service window. Juan was polite, he worked quickly and quietly enough that he did not disturb my 20-​month old twins that were napping in the next room, and he took the time to teach me maintenance procedures I could perform on my own to help my unit. Then… before I knew it, he was gone.
Juan provided an outstanding experience. A++++

Wayne Gaither was my Technician and this was the second time I used him. I requested him specifically because he originally told me to keep an eye on my water tank heater. The second time out my water tank heater sprung a leak and he came out the next day. What I liked about the whole experience was that there was no issues or «shadiness». Wayne was very up front and (to me) an honest person. He was extremely professional and really worked hard! he is my go to guy in any future plumbing projects that come up!

Corbin was incredibly nice and accommodating when working up quotes for my husband. Frank Bennett and Joe Gibbs installed our new furnace today, and were friendly, knowledgeable, explained everything to me, and even did a nice job cleaning up when they left. Thank you for everything!

If you’re in the Springfield VA area and need a new HVAC and want some great HVAC service, FH Furr is a fantastic way to go. My wife and I highly recommend FH Furr.
All of their guys that have come to our house are professional, helpful and thorough.
While no HVAC system is cheap, I advise you to purchase the 2 year maintenance plan with your new HVAC.
The 2 year plan has given my wife and I a lot more piece of mind– we are new home owners. FH Furr installed the HVAC and the new thermostat I bought myself at home depot. And any appointment I have had post-​installation, I have not had to pay for.
We get 3 free maintenance inspections per year for 2 years (6 free inspections total): 1. Heating & AC– done at the same time 2. Whole House Plumbing 3. Whole Electrical. And it is really no charge.
They will even just come out to your house if you are worried about something. A weird sound or whatever, no charge for that either for the first 2 years. Unless you have some kid or dog mess up the wiring on your outside unit (heat pump), they cover the unit as part of the maintenance plan at no charge for any visit.
No charge really means no charge too. You sign that they came to your house on their iPad but you will not need your credit card for the first 2 years– I haven’t! It really is free– no bs.
Everyone from FH Furr that has come to our house over the last year has been fantastic– always helpful, courteous and professional. This includes Andrew Johnson, Josef Schafer and Rodney Towles.
Can’t say enough good things about FH Furr.

F.H. Furr was the contractor that came out when I asked for a Lowe’s free estimate on my HVAC system. Osvin and Eric came out on time and worked through the summer heat to install a new air conditioner and coil. My entire HVAC system looks completely upgraded and they took the time to show me proper upkeep. They were on time and professional.

What a great experience. I have a maintenance contract with another company. They gave me the run around on a warranty issue. I called F.H. Furr and they found my warranty info, ordered the part and had a technician, Russell, out the next day. Russell was very professional and went above and beyond. He gave me extra education on the hvac system which when I asked the other company I had I could never get a straight answer. I was so happy with the level of customer service I received from the first time I called them to the visit. I will be signing a yearly maintenance contract with them because of Russell’s customer service.
It’s extremely hard to find a thorough and competent technician that will be truthful.

FH Furr was able to diagnose and repair a problem with my hot water heater which their competitor was not able to repair in 3 rescheduled appointments.
The technician was very professional and truthful. I was at work, but communicated with him via phone and my child’s babysitter who was in the home at the time.
I appreciate the excellent customer service and will do business with them again!

Well here is a final update, i ended up replacing my whole ac and furnace for half of the price that FH Furr quoted me for. I suggest everyone get a couple quotes fist before making there final decision.

Water softener and water heater have been in for over a month. Both are working perfectly. Highly recommend Curtis at FH Furr.

This is a 2 parter: the people I spoke to who were not technicians and the technician himself.
My AC finally decided to kick the bucket (it is a whopping 25 years old), and my washer has been on the fritz. I live in a condo that I rent from a family member who does not live in the area, and he told me to call and find someone to inspect them.
I went searching for places that serviced both and wasn’t having much luck, so I went to FH Furr’s web site and up popped a cute little chat window. I spoke to the gentleman (I’ve discovered they work FOR FH Furr and not at their office). He said he wasn’t sure if they repaired washers, but would have someone check and call me back, and was there anything else? I mentioned that my AC was shot and I would like to have it checked the next day if at all possible. (It was about 90 degrees in my house at night and I have pets, so this was really important to me). I had contacted him an hour and a half before the offices closed. He said he would pass my case on to the office and I would hear from someone.
I hoped that that meant within the next 10 minutes, perhaps half an hour? At least before they closed, if I were to be seen the next day at all. By half an hour to closing I had heard nothing back, so I called them directly. I chalked it up to a miscommunication with the chat people, perhaps. The gentleman on the phone asked if I needed someone out that night as an emergency, or if they could call me in the morning. The morning was fine, I said.
They called me early in the morning, which was much appreciated, and they said that while they were booked for the day, they could have someone come and look at the AC (they don’t do washers) that day when they could. Which I was completely fine with, since I knew that I was a squeeze-​in.
Justin was my technician and he was very polite and honest. Yes, the AC was completely shot, and he explained the various problems and how it would cost MORE to fix it than just replace it. He said he could have a specialist come and do an estimate on a new washer. However, because I don’t own the property, and they wanted to speak directly to the owner (who was on a CRUISE FOR A WEEK BUT THAT’S ANOTHER STORY), they would speak to him when he came back first.
Shortly after Justin left, a woman at the main office called me and got my owner’s address and phone number, and said that they would call him that Monday to set up an estimate time.
So I waited a week with no AC.
Monday evening that next week my condo owner hadn’t heard from them. The next day I started getting phone calls and messages that FH Furr was calling to schedule a time to come look at my unit. From the chat problems to this, there didn’t seem to be good communication going on and that wasn’t cool with me.
I answered the phone yesterday. I told them they were supposed to call my brother on Monday. The woman said that my number was the only one that they had. Hrm. I told her again that I had given them my brother’s address and phone number shortly after the technician left over a week ago.
Then the woman told me that they had spoken to him and he had told them to call me to set up a time to come look at the unit. So it went from them never having his information to them having spoken with him already.
I went ahead and set up a time for them to come. Their first available was Saturday but completely open-​ended, all day. Their first SCHEDULED day wasn’t until the next Wednesday. I scheduled and ended the call.
5 minutes later she called me back and told me that they DID have my brother’s number before but that it was lost. I gave it to her again.
I asked my brother if he had heard from them at all before these calls, and he hadn’t. I went online to ask the chat people to cancel my appointment. I got a call back within 10 minutes.
So my takeaway is this: The technician was very nice and polite. Because my system is dead, I can’t give any opinions on prices. I paid the $ 150 visit fee. I didn’t get an estimate that day, so I can’t give an opinion on that.
The communication that goes on behind the scenes seems very disorganized. I didn’t hear back from the company the night I spoke with the chat person. Then they never called the owner of the condo. Then when I told them that they were supposed to call him because he owned it, they said they only had my number, then lied and told me they had already spoken to him. And then backtreaded AGAIN by calling and getting his number again because they HAD had it in the office but they didn’t know where it was.
A polite tech can only go so far. I would give Justin a 5 for what he did (albeit a very short visit), but maybe a 1 for the «people behind the scenes.» The woman who called to get my brother’s info right after my visit seemed very awesome and put together, but if you can’t keep track of an account and then change your story 2 – 3 times, I lose major faith.

I called FH Furr and spoke to HVAC service manager, Mike, who was condescending, rude, inattentive and totally unsympathetic to my situation. A condensate hose has disconnected TWICE in THREE years and he said he really didn’t know what could be the problem. He said he’d «do his best» to take care of me.
Especially considering what a loyal customer I’ve been, I thought «do my best» meant he would have my problem fixed by the next day. «Taking care of me» consisted on someone calling me two days later to set up a service call.
After 20 years of loyalty and a service contact, I expected the company to really «step up» and help me. I was hosting a party the following day and temperature were predicted to hit 90.
Ironically, while you’re on hold with this company, the recording goes on and on about how much they value customer service. Ha! I canceled my service contract today.

Our A/​C went out on Tuesday night, so we called them to come out since it’s still under warranty with them. Well they said they would come between 8:30−9am on Friday. So I was at home waiting for them to come and 9:30am rolls around and nobody is still here. I called and the lady who answered took my info and said the technician was on his way. Well 10am rolls around and I finally hear the doorbell and the technician arrived.
He was really nice and normal which was nice. It didn’t take him too long to figure out the issue, but now they have to order a part which means we are without A/​C even longer.
They got 3 stars mostly because the technician was nice and knowledgeable, but it’s totally unacceptable to say that they are going to arrive between 8:30−9am and they don’t show up until 10am. There is no way that the technician would have waited outside of my house for an hour, so not sure why the customer is expected to wait around for them to arrive.
