Cinnamon Bear Inn

Not a very good experience. Stayed Wednesday through Saturday through Priceline but ended up leaving mid-​day Friday as we could no longer take the tiny economy room with a very uncomfortable, stiff bed. The workers are very nice, which is the only positive. However our first bad experience was arriving on Wednesday only to find that nobody is working the front desk from 10 am to 3 pm, so we couldn’t drop any of our stuff off or ask for suggestions around the city in our first trip to Mammoth. Room was uncomfortably small, bed was very uncomfortable, and shower water kept switching from hot to cold and at times, would lose water pressure. Again, very nice workers but an overall bad experience. Especially being that we left Mammoth a day early just because of the uncomfortable room.

Stayed here 3 nights in February for a ski trip. The front desk staff was seriously amazing. The rooms were quaint and inexpensive and clean. So why 3 stars? Well, it’s an old hotel and the walls are paper thin. You can hear conversations clear as day through the walls. It was really annoying at night when people would use the hot tub and we could hear every word they were saying at 4am. I probably wouldn’t stay here again. I can’t sleep when I can hear people taking a crap in the toilet 2 rooms away.

My husband and I usually stay in condos while in Mammoth and ones that accept dogs however staying 4 nights didn’t want to spend that much. I came across Cinnamon Bear Inn and although they didn’t allow pets it was inviting for location, hot breakfast and comfortable appearing rooms. The Inn did not disappoint! Managers Janelle and Rudy couldn’t be more accommodating and nice! The dining area/​lobby was always inviting, warm, cozy and clean! Location is great being located behind Premium Outlets off Main St. The only 2 negatives for us would be not having Wifi in room and you could hear others coming and going throughout the evening. (There is Wifi in lobby!). I would definitely recommend The Cinnamon Bear Inn and would return in a heartbeat! Again, Janelle and Rudy are the BEST!

We booked a 2 night stay in Mammoth using Hotwire, where you don’t find out the actual accommodations until after you book. We saw the reviews were mostly positive and the price was right, so we booked on Hotwire and then were notified we’d be staying at the Cinnamon Bear Inn. We’re originally from the Northeast and love the charming New England Bed & Breakfasts back home, but this place wasn’t quite what I was expecting.
This place was more, as my husband would say, literally just a bed and breakfast… meaning the room was extremely small with nothing more than a bed. It’s definitely a very simple, no frills type of place, which is fine but the tight space made it a little tricky to get ready, especially with ski stuff. It was clean, except for a face wipe that was left in the corner floor of our shower. The bed was a double, not a queen, so it was a little small for 2 people. The mattress itself was extremely uncomfortable and neither of us were able to get a good night sleep either night. I think the quality of the mattress was our biggest gripe.
Now the good points… the folks who work here get 5 stars for sure, as they were super nice. The breakfast was also very good and they did their best to accommodate requests if people had any restrictions with whatever breakfast they were serving that morning. There was also a hot tub on site… we didn’t go in, but we saw others who seemed to be enjoying it. The location is also great. It’s close to restaurants/​bars, the ski area, and Rick’s rental shop right down the street is the best place to rent gear.
Overall, it was a fine experience in that we got a good price, the breakfast was good, the staff was great, and we loved the location. I have to stick to 3 stars due to the super uncomfortable bed, but if I find out they upgrade their mattresses I may consider staying again.

Cozy little spot in the heart of the city of Mammoth. Conveniently located near (3 min walk) the red line shuttle that will take you to the village and main lodge. There are also restaurants and bars walking distance as well. The rooms are well furnished and well heated. The beds are comfortable and bathroom and shower area is updated. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hot tub is outside and is very hot. Breakfast is complementary every morning and is made to order. Perfect place for a couple or small family on a budget.

From the moment we walked in the door, to the time we handed in our key to check out, it was a wonderful experience! The staff could not have been friendlier. The rooms were clean and comfy. Fireplace, dining table. Board games and DVD players were available at the front desk. We played a family game of Sorry. My son’s favorite. The orange marmalade and cream cheese stuffed french toast was the best I’ve had in a long time! I’m not sure we could’ve had a better experience. Definitely our new place to stay in Mammoth!

Wow loved this place! Booked it the day before a Thanksgiving trip and still got a great price. For a few bucks more than a budget chain motel, you get a cute and cozy place that feels like home. Room was super comfy and warm. Nice snowy view of the trees out the window. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was a really nice perk, served 7:30−10, first morning was mixed berry pancakes, second morning was orange marmalade and cream cheese stuffed french toast. They also had juice, coffee, cereals and oatmeal available. This inn helped make my first trip to Mammoth a great one, definitely look forward to staying here again.

We had a trip to Yosemite National Park, and I found this place through a third party site after looking at akl kind of places, but when I saw the place I fell in-​love, and the amazing costumer service was just a bonus, a jaccuzi that wasn’t listed on the site, a beautiful and comfortable room with a great breakfast.
When we arrived we told the lady at the front desk that this is our first time there and we wanted to know of places we could go to at night and landscapes we could see, she was super helpful and nice.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who is planning a vacation in the Mammoth Lakes area.

This was a fantastic hotel for under $ 100 (end of summer/​early fall). Not only was the bed super comfortable (pretty certain it was memory foam), but you get an actual fresh cooked breakfast in the morning; ours was ham and cheese omelettes.
I came here as a pre Mt Whitney treat to get some real rest after camping in high elevation and was not disappointed. The service was friendly, the room was super cozy and the toiletries provided were actually quite nice. The only issue (reason why it’s 4 stars and not 5) was the shower; the shower head in our room was very short, I’m 5’10″ and I had to crouch about 5″ to get my head under the water, it also liked to alternate between burning magma and glacial cold. But really the bed and service made up for that and I would certainly return.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here! I love a place with exceptional hospitality and service. These guys were so accommodating, kind, and helpful. A rustic bed and breakfast centrally located around some great local shops and restaurants. Make sure to ask the managers and the regulars for their recommendations. I would recommend this B&B and plan to stay here again when we stop by this area next.

Wow what can I say — I’m in love! This place was exactly what I needed, privacy, quiet, clean, rusty, warm and cozy :-)
Service was above and beyond! Janelle and Rudy were extremely friendly, helpful and available. Breakfast was very yummy and you can get more if you still hungry.
I stayed for 3 nights and I’m going back in Sep for 4 night with my mom and son.

This is the kind of place that «will do» as long as you are not picky. Although a little outdated, service was solid from the moment we walked in.
Check in was fast and easy. To our luck, a bigger better room was available. It is five of us friends on snowboarding trip, and along with the pull out mattress, we all had our own bed. Breakfast was included with our reservation… the homecooked pancakes were delicious!
If it were not for the staff, this review wouldnt have as many stars. We received excellent service on our stay here, and would prefer service with a smile over a five star resort, any day.
Ps. There is hot water indeed, but only for four of us as it ran out before our fifth friend could shower. If you’re going with a group, wake up early. Dibs on the hot water ;-)

After I booked this place, I read the reviews and I was a little worried. Crusty rooms? No wifi? No hot water? No heating? I was a little worried, and maybe because my expectations were reduced because of these reviews — I was actually very, pleasantly surprised.
I think I also might have gotten lucky and got the room close to the Lobby (Room 15). I had no problem whatsoever with the WiFi and the room was very charming and clean, with a beautiful view of the woods. The heating worked, and the water was hot too. I took a hot bath in my bathroom and it was totally fine. I have no idea what some of these reviews brought up (but then again maybe it has to do with the room?) They have two buildings — I think the ones by the main room might be nicer?
I loved the included breakfast in the morning. Service was great. I enjoyed my stay here.

My stay at the Cinnamon Bear Inn was fabulous! I have never experienced such customer service and hospitality. The owners were so nice and laid back. And where do I even begin with breakfast… D-​E-​L-​I-​C-​I-​O-​U-​S!!! I truly can’t say enough about this place! Its not the nicest place you can stay in Mammoth, but I would take charm over luxury any day and that is exactly what the Cinnamon Bear Inn is, a charming getaway suitable for everyones ski vacation!

I and my loving wife hereby award *** to Cinnamon Bear Inn of Mammoth Lakes. The *** Michelin type rating awarded to Cinnamon Bear Inn is the culmination of the comparison/​result of having either endured or enjoyed visits to homes, lodges, B & B’s, hotels, motels, hostels, condos, & so called five star resorts and other tents and shacks worldwide over the past 45 years, more or less. Three Michelin type restaurant stars means that Cinnamon Bear Inn is worthy of a special holiday journey. My loving wife mainly accompanies me on my annual ski trips to humor me. We cannot afford to own a private home at each of our favorite haunts, so we rent according to our needs, depending on whether that is one night or several weeks. She likes staying at Cinnamon Bear Inn, so do I. Here is why:
In the world of ski resorts, location says it all. In its own right, Cinnamon Bear is worth one star merely by its having trumped everything in the world in its actual category which is (for a holiday ski resort) a very modestly priced B & B. Quaint, cute, old fashion, quiet, clean, well kept, a retro kind of place that is outrageously and ridiculously well located. If it were a diamond gem, the Cinnamon Bear Inn would be rated a tiny, colorless, grade D VVS1 in a retro setting, ideally cut and brilliant.
Worth at least a detour, if not a special journey. The Cinnamon Bear Inn is within 500 feet of everything, except noise, as it is a small place on a quiet side street. If you arrived by automobile, as did we, park the vehicle and forget about driving for a few days because you will find yourself not requiring or even considering the need for an automobile. If you arrived via your very own private jet then the complimentary shuttle from the airport will deposit you and yours directly at Cinnamon Bear Inn, altho most of those people are likely staying at a private estate nearby or at least in one of the newer more fashionable and stupidly expensive places. Mere steps to your room and a delicious Cinnamon Bear breakfast, the humble inn is only about 150 convenient feet from the Intouch Spa (for some luxury pampering to soothe a lovely wife’s aches and pains after a day of whatever). My wife would give *** stars to that essential business, but that is a separate story.
Care to enjoy something from world famous Schat’s Bakkery which also happens to be there as well? Schat’s is located next to the Mammoth Luxury Outlets (in case you or perhaps your significant other decides to replace that old Coach handbag at the last minute before going to dine at Slocum’s or any of a number of fine local establishments, all of which are conveniently accessible simply by boarding Mammoth shuttle stop 13, conveniently located right there also and which is free always and runs every 15 minutes to everywhere in town until the wee hours. If, for example, a special someone in your party has just experienced a hair or nail emergency, there are a couple of salons in the immediate area at your service. At your convenience, a one minute ride on the shuttle will take you and your skis or snowboard and whatever other stuff you require (yes even your spouse as well) from shuttle stop 13 going anywhere in Mammoth but especially to the free Mammoth Village Gondola. The always free Village gondola will get you to and from the Canyon Lodge, from which you may get directly onto the lifts and world class slopes (after buying lift tix which may be gotten at either the Village from whence you just arrived on the free gondola or at Canyon Lodge).
With respect to convenient amenities, the town of Mammoth and Cinnamon Bear Inn make even Aspen look like a one horse town frankly, although the Aspen locals might tell you that they want it like that. Hah hah. Aspen has many private estates, many with their private helipads, but only one tiny and ridiculously overcrowded overpriced market and drugstore, a butt load of overpriced establishments plus McDonald’s, and 5 mammoth sized mountains all serviced by an underpowered free shuttle system. I will still take Mammoth with its great little town, fantastic shuttle system and three base lodges (Canyon lodge, Eagle lodge and the Main lodge), plus a McDonalds as well.
Hence the Michelin ***star rating for the meek and humble Cinnamon Bear conveniently and outrageously located at the center of a great place to experience a winter mountain holiday. A stay there rivals anything on the planet for my money. You can have your mountain home and private helipad and B.S. fancy dining. I will gladly hug the little Cinnamon Bear. The downside is that wifey cannot bring her little Fido because that is not allowed. Then again, sometimes that is a good thing as there are just the two of us in bed instead of the usual threesome. Enjoy

I stayed here with my husband and best friend for NYE from ¹²⁄₃₁ until ¹⁄₃.
Here are the positives. We had the 1 bedroom suite and it was very comfortable. The mattresses, pillows and comforters were all comfortable. It could have accommodated 5 people; you just all have to share a bathroom. The suite also had a cooking stove, microwave and small but roomy fridge. It also came with some plates, glasses, cups and utensils. They cleaned and replenished our towels everyday. The owners were very nice. Breakfast was good on all 3 days. We had french toast day 1, mixed berry pancakes day 2 and ham and cheese omelette day 3. They have coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cereal and oatmeal. We also did not have trouble parking, partly because we always took the free shuttle around town and up the resort. Shower had good running hot water.
Three negative things I can say is our heater (which was a stove controlled by a thermostat) was not working during our entire stay. They were not able to repair it and since it was New Year’s, it also could not be repaired right away by an outside person. So, they provided us with portable heaters and that did the job for us. Also, if you are on the first floor, the footsteps of the guests upstairs can be heard. pretty loud… especially if there are about 3 kids running and jumping all over the place. That also did not bother us because we are always out most of the time. When we got back, we all crashed in bed and too exhausted to even hear the noise. I also tried using their phone in the room to call them about the heater, but I forgot to mention this to them. But I have a cellphone so no big deal.
Some people would probably have freaked out because of these and demanded certain things, so if you are picky like that then you probably should not stay here. We were warm and comfortable and I think that’s good enough. There was not a lot to choose from for breakfast, but whatever they had was delicious and got us full. They can give you a second serving if you ask for more. This is not the Four Seasons Hotel, so do not expect luxury. This place and the folks running it offered our basic necessities and were very hospitable and to me that’s all that matters.
I would have given it 5 stars, but it had some faults so I settled for 3. Would I stay here again despite these faults? Yes, I definitely will.

Please do not stay here, they are dishonest.
When we arrived at the Cinnamon Bear Inn, they did not have the room type available that we had booked. Bummer. Furthermore, despite their advertisement of offering HBO, they informed us that in fact they no longer have HBO. Be warned!
Given these discrepancies, we asked the attendant at the front desk if we simply could cancel the reservation and have the hotel issue us a refund. The front-​desk attendant agreed to this, and we left to find another hotel in the area.
Reasonable, right? Wrong! After waiting several days, the the Cinnamon Bear Inn had not issued us a refund. We then contacted the hotel and Kayak/Hotels.com (through which we made the reservation) about issuing our refund, but the Cinnamon Bear Inn refused to acknowledge that it ever offered us a refund, and thus they refused to provide a refund, all in direct contradiction to what they said to us when we left the hotel. In short, they lied to us, and we ended up paying for two separate hotel rooms that night.
In summary, the Cinnamon Bear Inn did not provide us with the room type that we reserved, they did not have HBO (despite still advertising as offering it), and they then agreed to offer us a cancellation/​refund, but later they refused to acknowledge this when contacted. Dishonest. Please do not stay here.

I wish I could say good things about this place, since the people who work here are nice and it’s a good location. But to be honest, no way could this ever be a 5 star rating. The room was clean, but overall, the whole place needs a major remodel for the price of $ 119/​night midweek. It looks like a place from the 70’s, old tv, old furnishings, droopy bed, and the hot tub area is all rotted out, with nails sticking out on the deck. It is also not very hot.
The walls are thin and floors are super creeky. I could hear everything from the people above, and if someone walks around at night or early morning, takes a shower, or flushes the toilet, you will hear it all.
There are other places, including condos, that are not much more in price, but definitely mountains above this place for quality. Thought I’d give this place a try, but it’s not worth it.

Total mom and pop place, this was exactly what we were looking for!
If you’re looking for fancy schmancy this is not the place for you, if you’re looking for cute and kitschy you’ve found a winner. We originally booked at another hotel but after reading the reviews about the nightmare issues involving their renovation we cancelled and booked Cinnamon Bear. Once we got here and saw our place verses the other hotel, we were 100% certain we made the right decision.
There is a wonderful complimentary breakfast in the morning with one hot offering a day. We had a spinach tomato omelet with Romano cheese one day and a strawberry cream cheese stuffed French toast the other, both were made to order, hot and delicious.
The location was perfect, close to the mountain and shops but not on the main road. I recommend getting the suite, it’s a little more than a regular room but its well well worth it. The suites are located away from the main rooms and it comes with a separate living room that has a fireplace. The bed is super comfy and the shower had a good strong flow to it.
