This salon is under the radar because the owner is one busy lady, but it’s worth making an appointment. I live in New Hampshire where there are no Black hair salons for women, except for one, run by a man. Sorry dudes, but only Black women can straighten Black hair. I used to chauffeur my two elderly friends to get their hair done, and would just sit and read magazines or surf my smartphone because I wore my hair in twists. When I needed a much needed hair trim, while in D.C., I was told the only way to do it effectively would be to straighten my hair. So, after 45 years of natural hair, I bit the bullet and had it done. When I needed to get my hair done again(as it’s low maintenance for me now), I returned with my two elderly friends in tow. This time I had my hair done, too. The staff are friendly, but they are there to do your hair. They are not gossipy, and don’t chatter your head off. They take care of business. They are thorough, and they aim to please. You get a good strong hair wash, they straighten your hair till it glistens(not that I care, but it stays longer that way, especially if you’re like me and don’t care to style it – ponytails only, for me). I will likely go back to my natural hair, when my time permits, but for now, I’m cool with getting it straightened for the time being, and this will be where I return each time.
