Wouldn’t go back. Seaweed salad was fine. Hot and sour soup– meh. Cannot say I’ve ever had bad sushi until now. The fish wasn’t bad as in tainted but the nigiri pepper tuna and yellowtail were subpar.

Today was my first visit to Mikado and I think this is the best Asian food in Magnolia. The hot and sour soup was the best I have ever had. The sesame chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. The fried rice was great. Service is excellent and I will be returning for sure.

Bonzai roll is fabulous, all variations of their fried rice are delicious! They even make special off the menu cuisines if asked, FYI… Shredded pork with garlic sauce… AWESOME!!! Mango and shrimp spring rolls are to die for! Sesame chicken is also very tasty here.

For me, this is the best sushi in town. What I like the most, is the consistency. I’m a regular there and is good every single time.

Love this hidden gem. By far the best sushi in town. Prices are very reasonable, the sushi quality is excellent and the service is friendly and very efficient. The décor is nothing special — just simple but clean. I even like their hot and sour soup which is a first for me at a japanese restaurant. Highly recommended. It is great to have a great sushi place without having to drive an hour.

Skip it, plain and simple. There are much better food & value options not far away. Way overpriced, more expensive than the trendy places at Market St. & Hughes Landing but don’t have anywhere near the atmosphere or quality of food. Atmosphere is not divey really but is not what you could call nice. For the price point I’d expect a much nicer atmosphere, cloth napkins, full set of decent cutlery, etc. Service wise all were nice & friendly but ultimately they served my wife’s dish about 7 – 10 minutes before mine. Luckily when mine was finally brought it was way over cooked yet still cold so we were in the same boat. Food was poorly conceived & executed. Unfortunately nothing good to say.

These guys know what they’re doing, mostly. House Lo Mein is best I have had anywhere in the U.S. in years. Teriyaki Salmon was good. Egg rolls and wonton soup are passable, but too delicate and the soup doesn’t have much besides dull broth and a few tiny wontons. Still, all things considered, this place is a local gem. Great value for hibachi steak and chicken lunch!

Went for dinner. Mikado salad is very good. The banzai roll and orange chicken were good. Hibachi red snapper was dry. Over all a very nice place.

In Magnolia, on FM1488, at the end of a «run of the mill» strip center is this little gem of a sushi restaurant! Really? Oh HELLYES!!! This restaurant serves up some of the best sushi! I had Mark’s spring rolls(I ordered the shrimp as you can chose between chicken or shrimp) which were an amazing treat of Napa cabbage, shrimp and a few other ingredients wrapped in rice paper. To die for!!! I ordered the Bonzai roll, AMAZING roll with escolar, crunch, tuna, jalapeño, etc. I’m awe struck that a place of this caliber exists here in Magnolia, tucked away in this little strip center. If you live here, are in the area, or just passing through, stop here. You will be glad you did.(And they have Choya Plum Wine too… YUM! and Cheers!)

My first time here was a pleasant experience. Wait staff was friendly and very attentive. I tried the jalapeño beef and was not disappointed. The beef was nice and tender, no knife needed. Spicy just the way I like it. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

The best sushi in town(and I dare say all of Houston) The people there are always very nice. They remember my name, order, and everything. I have never been disappointed or left hungry. Their prices are really cheap and well. This is the best place to eat so eat here!

So good. The Thai fried rice is excellent as well as the standard fried rice. They add basil and jalapeño to the Thai version. The Man on Fire sushi roll was very, very good. Highly recommend! I have not had a bad dish there yet. So glad we have this kind of dining option in Magnolia. Also, the wait staff is very friendly and helpful. My 6 year old son liked the lo mein and he is very picky. :) he also loved the soda bottles there. Very yummy and are Japanese I think. Highly recommend this place.

First time here… will definitely go back. Service was very good, pleasant, responsive. Food was excellent. We got a real smörgåsbord. Hamachi kama, tonkatsu, ahi and escalar sushi, beef negimaki, pot stickers. Everything was fantastic but the negimaki lacked flavor. My GF especially like the hamachi kama which is fought to find everywhere but they served it in the simple traditional japanese style which she prefers. Prices were quite reasonable as well. Next time we’ll try the hibachi.

My husband I have been here many times — alone, with our son, and with my parents. Great service and food — they all seem to care about the food they serve and how they treat customers. Have enjoyed the sushi, soups, salads, green tea ice cream, and dishes like the salt and pepper shrimp. They have great hibachi/bento box lunch specials too.

Great service and fresh sushi, also have Chinese food. They can also make special orders for you, try the Tino’s salad. This place is located by Dickies bbq on 1488, on the map is wrong situated.

Mikado is my new go-to place for Asian food. They serve Chinese staples, Japanese staples, and sushi, with a few unique dishes sprinkled in. They even have hibachi dinners, though without the show. It just comes from the kitchen. I’ve tried a number of different dishes, and everything is prepared so carefully. Fried items are light and crispy, grilled chicken is still juicy, the rice is fluffy with just the right amount of chew, seasoning is perfect every time. Sauces are not thick and gloppy either, nor is the meat ever oversauced. My favorites so far are the Mikado chicken, which is lightly fried chicken with a bit of a kick from cayenne pepper served with baby corn and green pepper; and of course orange chicken because I just love the stuff. The soups are all very good, so just get your favorite one. Service has always been very friendly, and the kitchen is quick. It’s a good place to stop for a quick lunch or to linger over dinner.
