Angry Pepper

This may be unfair based on what I’ve seen from other reviewers but I can only base it on my experience. The place was DEAD at 9 on a Thursday night. Did I say dead? It is very hard to hear because of the huge fans required to keep it cool. The staff is very friendly! They have just been approved for a liquor license but not able to serve yet. O had the Two-​Hearted Ale which I did not care for… it could just be personal preference and that would not be their fault. They are known for their BBQ but I had BBQ for lunch. So… I didn’t go with their strength. I had the redneck BLT and sweet potatoe fries. The sandwich was ok. It had fried green tomatoes (very tasty) and a really nice red tomato. Something didn’t quite work for me… it was to hard too keep together, the bacon had a strange taste to it and the mayo came in a packet. I’m a mayo lover so that was not sufficient AND if you want to be know for your food don’t serve condiments in packets. I would try it again and get their BBQ. If there had been any excitement I would go half a star higher and if I had gotten the BBQ it could have been even higher. Give it a shot and see what you think.

Started with the smoked chicken wings in «sweet & nasty» sauce, amazing !! Wife had carnitas tacos, amazing”. Had the Bubba Burger, angry, cooked perfectly and simply amazing. Only issue is not a lot of table space, unless you want to sit out with the smokers, but now that would even be worth it! Music is great too and owner was very friendly and proud of his place.

When we first moved to the area, someone told my wife that we just had to try the Angry Pepper for great barbeque. We were staying near the restaurant this weekend so we were finally able to give it a try. Overall, we were unimpressed.
Let me start by saying the service was great! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She made sure our drinks were full and even got our daughter’s order in first so that she wouldn’t have to wait!
We started with the Angry Peppers appetizer. They consist of jalapenos, stuffed with cheese and bacon and then fried. They sound delicious but we found them very plain. The only flavor we could taste was the jalapeño itself, no cheese taste to it and definitely no bacon.
I ordered the pulled pork since the place is known for their barbeque. The smoky flavor was overpowering and it was really all that I could taste. The sauce was also nothing to write home about. My wife said the same for the pulled pork in her burrito. She also tasted my daughter’s cheeseburger and said it wasn’t very good, which was evidenced by my daughter only eating about a fourth of it.
The overall feel of the place was very casual and it is on the water, which is always a plus. The people and the scenery make it nice but the food definitely won’t bring us back. Maybe next time we’ll just settle for a drink.

Had the fried green tomatoes, grilled fish tacos and pulled pork entrée with side salad and sweet potato fries. All were great. BBQ sauce and honey mustard dressing had to be home-​made.
This is 100% authentic smoked BBQ. Tender and smoky. Just perfect. Can’t wait to go back to try more of their ‘queue.
Awesome food and service experience with our first lunch in town after a along dive in. Thank you Vicki for starting us out right!
Just one suggestion: how about some air coolers? Open-​air is great most of the time, but cool is nice too, right?

Awesome place. Great view of intracoastal. I had slider special for lunch and wife had a nice po boy. The service for lunch was great.

Always good service food is always good and we love the wings great little bar love it.

I’ve been visiting the Madeira area for years just to see relatives, but never really got a taste of anything that was either overly expensive or made with the elderly in mind. So to finally sit down and eat at a place with great food at a fantastic price… I was sold!
I ordered the blackened Fish Tacos which were amazing! My only complaint was the lack of a side. For 1.99 you can add one, but all of them are quite large (normal side portions), I just wanted a little something that came with them. Maybe a tiny side salad or some chips. Nothing major. The party I was with ended up getting the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer though, so with a few of those in my stomach and a sampling of their various sides (baked beans, waffle and sweet potato fries) I was full by the time dinner was over. Foutain Drinks (along with Ice-​Tea and Lemonade) are bottomless which is also a plus for those who can’t seem to stay hydrated enough. I know I’ll be recommending this place to people back home! Totally worth a try if you’re in the area, and want a nice lax meal! Oh, and the staff were all super friendly and checked in on us enough so that if we did need a refill we didn’t have to wait for long, but not enough to feel rushed or hovered over. If you were working tonight (⁵⁄₈) kudos to yall! You were great and made our night!

In town for work, and I could smell this place from my balcony! It says Waterfront but it’s really kind of squeezed in at the end of a canal. Their dock has room for 2 or 3 decent sized boats. I decided to go light and had the Sausage Gumbo with a side of waffle fries. The gumbo was out of this world, and the waffle fries were delicious. I skipped ketchup and went for the in house BBQ sauce. Perfect combo.
My co-​worker had the pulled pork sandwich and said it was one of the best he’s ever had. We paired the food with a couple of local craft beers. Their selection was above average. If you’re near Madiera Beach I’d definitely recommend this place. The open deck and food was just right.

Awesome place! Went with a coworker and I ordered wings! Co worker has the Shrimp Po boy! Will be going back before I leave!!! We sat outside and had a good view of the water. Customer Service was awesome!!!

It’s not a beach bar. it’s barely «waterfront «. What it is could be summed up as delicious. .friendly…casual and fun.
There’s inside seating but it’s all open. We chose to sit on the deck and enjoy the sunshine on this cool January lunch time.
They have a good beer selection and they’re specials were a house smoked buffalo chicken dip or a lobster artichoke dip.
We chose the chicken and was very glad we did. It was delicious! ! They’re house smoked Meats are very good.
Service is super friendly. .the owner is usually on site. on TV trivia keeps everyone lingering.
Parking can be difficult and yes its usually the older boater guy crowd. Keep that in mind and enjoy yourself

The wings we had were pretty good but the ribs were bad. We stayed nearby and I was excited to try Angry Pepper. I saw and smelled the smoker. It seemed like my kind of place.
It’s a casual locals eatery and patio open air bar spot. I liked the tight hooters shirt and camo pants fashion statements and the laid back feel. Service was friendly. The ribs were not. Mealy. Bad tasting I had a few bites on one and packaged the rest to go. They were no better later on. :(

Went in on Taco Tuesday with a group of 15 — kids and adults. This place is affordable, has a good vibe and very friendly staff. And tasty tacos.

We went because I was craving a pulled chicken salad that someone mentioned in a review… there wasn’t one on the menu, so as it was taco Tuesday I ordered a house salad for $ 4 and two chicken tacos for $ 4 with the house honey mustard and made my own that I felt like I was eating for days… it was a lot of food, and hit the spot!
We also got the jalapeño poppers which seemed to be well made, but had bacon inside which isn’t really my thing.
They have NTN trivia, lots of tv’s, and friendly, but busy staff. We will go again when we can enjoy a beer!

Been here twice the first time we were seated and forgotten. Folks came in and were seated that left after a long wait, we stuck it out. Ordered something that was advertised as slow cooked and it seemed as though they started it when I ordered. After an amazingly long time I asked the waitress just to make our order to go and take the appetizer off the order as we had a place to be. After the manager came to talk and make excuses We left.
Came back once since then giving the benefit of the doubt and it was nearly the same. It’s been a while since we’ve been there…
When you drive by and think «they don’t look busy, let’s stop there» THERE IS A REASON!

Stopped by for lunch. Service was outstanding. I had the carnitas tacos and the gumbo. Both were excellent. The tacos each had a large portion of of lean, flavorful pork. The gumbo had great flavor and plenty of meat. Prices are fair as well.

We were out on a boat with some friends over the weekend and decided to stop here for lunch. My first impression was that it looked like a pretty cool place. It’s a smaller bar, but they have a nice outdoor area with tables and a bar as well as an indoor area. They have a decent selection of craft beers, but they don’t serve any liquor. The thing that really turned me off about the place was the slow service. It took about 10 minutes for us to just get our drinks. I can’t say I was that impressed with the food either. I had the Philly cuban. The pork had decent flavor, but the rest of the sandwich just tasted like it was missing something. It wasn’t a total bad experience, but at the same time I’m not sure if I would really have a reason to go back.

Angry pepper appetizer is amazing — never had peppers that good! My wife and I each had the chicken chopped salad and it took a while to get but that’s because of the solid preparation for everything to be fresh! It was perfect and prices are extremely fair!
I’ll be back!

I was visiting the area and asked for a recommendation for BBQ. I was hesitant because there menu is all over the board but does include BBQ. I ordered ribs and brisket to go. After about 15 min of waiting during a very slow time, I was thinking it should have been out by now as they certainly wouldn’t be cooking this order as it is supposedly slow smoked. In horror I saw my brisket being warmed on the flat top griddle. The lean part of the brisket was tough as could be, and the fatty portion, while tender, was simply pot roast tasting. The ribs were nothing but bones, cartilage, and tough meet.
Their menu looked good and I’m sure they make some good food. Unfortunately BBQ is not one of them and what this review is for.

Wife and I went here for an early dinner tonight. She had a hamburger and sweet potato fries. She said burger had no flavor, very greasy and it was served on two bun tops. I ordered the gumbo and the side salad. Gumbo was definitely not gumbo. No okra, It had what seemed to be left over brisket and pulled pork in it. I sent it back.
Our server (Did not get his name) was great and very attentive. We ate inside which is still somewhat in the open and had quite a few flying insects, flies, bees.
We came here shortly after they opened here some years back. We only returned because of recommendations from a friend. Sorry we won’t be returning.
