Tried The Pig & The Pirate for carry out last night. We ordered wings and a half chicken. While the chicken was cooked and seasoned well, the wings were another story. Firstly, they don’t trim the tips off the wings. The tips are pretty much meat-free, and I can’t ever remember having wings in this form in any restaurant. The wings also smelled strange, which we first attributed to the garlic sauce. As my husband ate his first wing, we realized it was the actual meat that smelled awful. They were obviously spoiled! It was too late to call and request a refund, and needless to say, we won’t be going back here. I’m rating one star because there is no option for zero stars.

Our family of 5 came for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon about 2:30. After reading many good reviews we were in the mood for good BBQ and headed your way.

We had no idea this place existed until I saw it in Unilocal today. We decided to give it a try. At first we couldn’t find it, they still have a small temporary sign. But we drove through the plaza and there it was. The owners were very friendly and when they had to tell us that ribs wouldn’t be ready for 40 minutes, they got creative and put together a meal deal that made everyone happy. We got to try the pulled pork, different than most and a bit spicy, but good. The baby backs had a lot of meat on them and just fell apart like they should. The mac n cheese is different, made with 5 cheeses on the steam table. I could eat that every day. What surprised me most was the beans. I normally don’t even eat them, but these were GOOD. Lots of bits of pork in them, good spice and a little heat. We will definitely be back!
