Like the others, I’ve been going to Mazur’s since I was a child. They were a local favorite by all, no doubt. I too was saddened when they closed, but happy to hear of the reopening. Still, skeptical if they would be as good as they once were. I had gone into Sugarflake about a month after they reopened and it was definitely a visual disappointment. They had put little to no effort in the appearance of the business as the counters and cases have seen better times. I purchased a few bakery items, mediocre at that, and definitely not worth the price tag. Still, I decided to give them another chance. Went in this weekend and still, visually disappointed by the unmaintained effort of the construction of the bakery. They barely had enough cakes to fill the cases, and the items I did purchase were still… mediocre. The only reason they got 2 stars was because the artwork on the butter cookies were beautifully crafted. Yet the broken ones in the case were an eye sore. It’s a shame really. Such potential to carry on a local favorite… only for it to crumble. Literally.

If I could I would give them –0 stars… I went in to order a cake for my sons birthday, I showed them a picture of a cake and a set of cupcakes… they told me absolutely not to the cupcakes… And quoted me a price for the cake… It was pretty high but I agreed to the price and paid in full… This all happened in the morning… At around 8 pm I get an email stating they wanted to charge me a higher amount of money for the cake… I told them it’s ethically immoral and goes against all fair business principles. I told them I will pick up the cake I was promised for the amount of money I paid… I went in at the time promised and they didn’t make my cake… They left a note w the counter lady to just refund my money… I have a bday party that I spent money for and spent time preparing w no cake… I had to run around to find a cake so my lil nine year old would have a cake to cut… They quote u a price and try to lie there way around trying to charge u more money… SCAM!!! Beware… They will not last… I 100 percent guarantee that! I want this one star off…

Friendly and helpful staff. I picked up a few pastries today. So far all have been delicious, decent value too! A little bit like walking back in time and the place has a real 70’s vibe to it. The place is very clean and product is good. Not sure they deserve all the negative reviews.

I was very upset when MaZurs closed and was skeptical when it reopened. Just like with any new buisness Mazur’s sugarflake is working out the bugs but their products are stellar and their staff really care. When going in for a special occasion it becomes their special occasion. When I was a little girl bakeries meant small town love with a big heart and Mazurs sugarflake delivers. Give Them a chance and they won’t disappoint you.

Very disappointed. We went there to get a birthday cake for my brother in law. We settled for a beautiful looking chocolate cake that cost well over $ 20 and it was STALE. I couldn’t believe it. The turnover must be so bad that they don’t sale these cakes regularly. Never again. In addition we bought these really cute cookies for my kids and they wouldn’t eat it! Looks good… that’s about it. So sad because this was the place to go once :(. Maybe the custom cakes are ok since it’s made to go?

I went there for the 2nd time yesterday because I like the rugelah. It’s not like Brooklyn’s rugelah, but they’re pretty yummy. Their cakes look delicious, but they don’t sell slices. That’s one thing I wish they’d change. I need to know I like something before I buy a whole cake! The first time I had the german chocolate brownie, and it was so gross I had to toss it completely. Yesterday, I tried the fruit tart for the first time, and it was AMAZING! I like the Lyndhurst bakery a lot too, but they don’t have classic fruit tarts like that. I’m considering going back again today, it’s just a little pricey. Maybe a cupcake today…

AWFUL. . Firstly this place needs to remove the good name of Mazurs off the business !! Mazurs was a stellar bakery with artisan cakes. My family use to go them for decades. Every event was a Mazurs cake !. I was there the morning it closed ! I decided to give this sugarFLAKE place a try. What a huge waste of $$$. I ordered red velvet with cream cheese 7 inch cake in a fondant finish and was charged $ 75 … At the party I discovered it was boring buttercup and plain vanilla !!! For that price I couldn’t have gotten TWO sheet cakes at Shoprite or Costco !! And it tasted just as ordinary !! I mean REALLY ??? There was so much left over. That in itself speaks volumes !!! Flake-y this place is. AVOID !! Save your time and money … Go to COSTCO instead !

So far, have been there twice. Staff is not friendly. Not mean, but certainly not friendly(although, this seems to be the Lyndhurst way). The cheesecake was seriously the best I have ever had. It was softish and moist, and it tasted like cheese, for real, without being too intense. The cupcakes were dry and not very flavorful, though the buttercream was fairly good. The cookies were pretty disappointing — not bad, but nothing special. The cakes in the window looked fabulous. The cannoli was absolutely great. And again, that cheesecake. Amazing.

So happy they were able to reopen. Do not let the bad press deter you. So far everything I have had there is excellent. And the place is extremely clean.

Wow. Stopped in today after a memorial service that was down the road. Carrot cake? Stale. St. Joseph’s pastry? Frozen. My sons character cookies seemed fine. His two sprinkle cookies? Stale. When visiting the area again, will not return. And the lady behind the counter wasn’t pleasant. I ordered 5 cookies for my son. Yes, 5. He wouldn’t eat them all in one sitting and he deserved them for being so good today. Plus, he is athletic and not a «gamer» kid who sits around all day. Lady behind the counter said«5 cookies? 5»? Yes lady, FIVE. Oh well, lesson learned.

We stopped by the location at 8:31 hoping to place an order for a birthday cake. The bakery was closed and two minors were just playing on the phones. Under new managment? Terrible managment at that. Very disappointed! On Internet they’re opening hours are from 6am-9pm, but I guess they close whenever they chose to do so.

This bakery was awesome about 20 years ago. I just went back in after it re-opened. I was not too fond of the brick hard cookie with the brick hard icing that I purchased for a whopping 3.75. That is a bit much for a cookie. I think 2.00 tops should cover it.

I’ve been to the«new» Mazur’s bakery a few times since it’s been under new management and everything I bought was very good. They have the best raspberry horns I’ve ever had!

Mazur is a bakery that will help you with whatever you need. We have a brother in law in Ohio who we must ship a sheet of crumb cake to at least once a year. They have packed it for us and we shipped it. They made it real easy for us.

Awesome baked goods! 2 weeks ago I brought home a cheesecake, a box of mixed items(donuts, crumb cakes, etc.) and some black and white cookies. Each item was better than the next. I live in Central Jersey but will be making a trip to Lyndhurst this Thursday to pick up some things for my 7 year old’s birthday weekend.

Mazur’s did reopen under new management this past weekend. The place looked clean but the selection was mediocre and they still had the same tired fondant wedding cakes in the window from the last few months while its was being renovated; soooo inviting! [2] donuts and [2] pastries cost $ 6.25!!! Not good for what you got; the food wasn’t great at all. The blueberry Danish was small and severely wanting for fruit, the crumb bun was thin and bland, the Boston cream was sour, and the powdered jelly donut was more powder than jelly. The jelly looked lost inside. Supposedly the new owners have several other bakeries in No. Jersey but that experience definitely didn’t transfer to what I purchased. Hopefully it improves but I wont be back until I hear it has.
