History

Established in 1888.

The legacy of Skyland begins in 1888, when George Freeman Pollock Jr. makes it his mission to find the perfect spot for a summer retreat. He calls the property’s breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley «beauty beyond description.»

Today, Skyland guests will appreciate the transformation of Pollock’s vision into a 16-acre resort at Shenandoah’s crest, offering a variety of accommodations in an inspiring national park setting. The Shenandoah River, Shenandoah Valley, George Washington National Forest and Piedmont Region are all close by, making Skyland a classic and coveted American national park tradition.
