Great place to grab a light and quick lunch. We went around noon on a Friday, and it wasn’t too crowded and there was live music. The lobster bisque was definitely the best thing I had there– make sure to definitely get it.

Ok let me start with the fact that their food is DELICIOUS. They definitely know their way around flavors and aren’t afraid to push the envelope. The drunken lobster bisque is great(and very reasonably priced). I love the Cowboy Cuban(jalapeño cheese bread, pulled pork, ham, other deliciousness) and the Culture Club(spinach bread turkey, bacon, ham, cheddar, greenery). That being said, there are definitely some kinks they are still working out. The door can seem a bit hidden on your first go-round leading to lots of aimless wandering around, the space is somewhat strange and ill-fitting for a restaurant as cool as this, and the team style service can be ungainly at times. Every time I’ve been there so far(3 times now) there are bursts of someone checking on you every 2.2 seconds, and then stretches where there’s nary someone in sight. I definitely have high hopes for this place, and hope they are able to move into a more well-suited space and really get their roots set in.

I am digging this new Lubbock spot. It is located in the Legacy Event Center downtown. Upon walking in I was greeted with lovely music by Dave Martinez and hipster décor at the hostess area. The seating is interesting. It is a square room with long banquet tables covered in white tablecloths and their logoed place settings. It was very quaint and nice. The menu had too many delicious options to choose from. I landed on a sandwich that had turkey, cheese. spicy mayo, sun-dried tomatoes and heirloom spinach all on a yummy spinach bread. I paid the measly $ 1 up charge to have the lobster bisque as my side. Decision affirmed when the soup was delectable. It wasn’t your typical bisque, but it was divine none the less. My sandwich ingredients were obviously very fresh. Our waiter was very pleasant and the owner even came around twice to make sure we were happy. The Pickle & The Pig is the perfect mix between hip fresh organic eatery and small town dining. I highly recommend going and trying this delicious food. They also cater, which is always nice to know!

It was a real treat! The Cuban was awesome and the service was great. I will try the other sandwiches made with homemade bread. Lubbock has nothing else like it.

The lobster bisque is amazing. It always is. Try it! My co-worker & I used to love the Pickle & the Pig for it’s wonderful well-priced food and very quick, polite service. However, I’ve noticed over the past few months a slipping of not only standards, but quality service. My co-worker & I routinely call and order lunch for pickup. In the past, we could call, order, walk-in to almost immediately pick-up our order, and it would be correct & delicious. This has not been the case for the past several months. Yesterday is the prime example of the negative changes we’ve experienced. Yesterday, I called to order a chicken salad, bowl of lobster bisque, and trifle. I was told it would 10 – 15 minutes. I purposely arrived at the 20 minute mark & was kept waiting another 10 while they prepared/gathered my order. At that point, I didn’t have time to check the order because I had to scurry back to work. Upon opening our order, we found several displeasing things. First, the chicken salad portion of our salad was smaller than it has been in the past. Also the chicken salad and the pecan vinaigrette tasted slightly off. Second, for some reason, we received a «cup» of potato leek soup and a «cup» of lobster bisque… we’d only wanted a bowl of the bisque. The potato leek soup was okay, but we wouldn’t want to have it again. The soups and the trifle were sent to us in to-go cups… the kind to put to-go tea in. That made eating the soups and the trifle slightly difficult to eat, and was not how it’s been sent in the past. In the past, our food has been packed in the appropriate containers. Finally, we realized we’d only been given spoons. Changes like this have become the new normal in recent months. My co-worker and I decided that moving forward, we will be taking the Pickle & the Pig off our pick-up menu… unless we’re really really craving the lobster bisque.

Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Top notch employees. The Green Chili Mac & Cheese is out of this world and all breads are made from scratch.

Well, I totally enjoyed it. The staff is top notch. They really care that you chose to eat there. Very knowledgable on the details of what you’re about to eat so you can make the right choice. I had the special. New York strip philly… Boom! & The chili that day was killer. Your gonna be happy.

A definite 4 star for service! If I could, a 3.5 for food, only because it’s a fairly new place & I think they’re still working out the kinks. Like finding a cheese wrapper deep inside my salad. No worries, though, It was taken care of. They do offer a gluten-free bread option which is pretty awesome for those of us w/a gluten intolerance, big props for that. Will definitely give them another try, next time I’m in town.

I’m visiting from out of town and it will be my go to lunch destination in the future. Everything was fresh and so delicious. Lobster bisque was the best I’ve ever had!

Recommendations: call ahead to get a table, ask about their specials, and don’t come at the lunch hour(12 – 1) if you’re in a rush! The Pickle and the Pig has some creative and delicious takes on classic sandwiches and sides. They’re located in the Legacy event center with not much signage other than a sign on the sidewalk and a sign pointing into the side ballroom space they work out of. Seating is banquet style, so you may be sitting beside someone who’s in the party next you. It gets crowded at the lunch hour, but I think that wouldn’t be an issue if you called ahead or weren’t in a rush. The other day I tried the special, featuring their New York Strip strips — similar to steal fingers, but 1000% better than whatever you’re imaging right now. It came with a side of mashed potatoes mixed with Havarti and spicy gravy. The gravy was AMAZING. It was flavorful, packed the right amount of punch, and complemented the strips and mashed potatoes nicely. After ordering, our waiter let our large party of 10(large for The Pickle and the Pig’s size), who 8 of 10 ordered the special, that they were running low on mashed potatoes. They let us know we would all still get a portion, but then add on some green chile mac & cheese to make it worth our while. I was glad they did — they were both great! Only downside was the temperature of the mashed potatoes upon receiving them. They flavor was amazing, so I wasn’t too interested in sending them back. My coworkers highly recommended the chicken salad salad and the Cowboy Cuban for the next time we go. You should try it out!

The food was decent, nothing to really complain about except that the menu could be a little more detailed. I ordered The Berkshire sandwich that comes with«ham», I assumed that the ham would be sliced thinly like most sandwich meat that I like, but instead it came with two thick chunks of ham that I wasn’t too crazy about. If I had known that I would’ve tried something else. All in all it seems like a good place, my coworkers got some good looking sandwiches but I probably won’t go back.

Love this community-style lunch spot! It’s new so of course they have a few«we-just-opened» kinks to work out, but the food was awesome. Had the Meatball Mafia on a homemade hoagie – the fresh bread and unusual sauce(carrot marinara? who knew?!) were out of this world, and the meatballs were stuffed with mozzarella cubes. Husband had the cuban which he loved. But what’s especially fun is the atmosphere – watching people who don’t know each other carry on conversations as if they were old friends kinda renews your faith in humanity. Fun place for downtown Lubbock.

I was saddened the day I showed up to Manna Bread and Wine and saw the unexpected«Closed Permanently» notification on the door. I was thrilled to see much of their old crew in place down at Pickle & The Pig, and much like Manna Bread and Wine, this is the type of unique place sorely needed in Lubbock. In this case, artisanal sandwiches. The menu is quite unique, but not in an overwhelming and expansive way. Simply a few great choices to pick from. In my first visit, I could not resist the Cowboy Cuban sandwich and the side of green chili macaroni(really, you had me at green chili). The Cuban had a nice stoneground mustard, pulled pork, ham, and shredded cheese. What pulled the sandwich most powerfully together was the jalapeño cheese bread. The green chili mac and cheese was obviously tasty. How could noodles, cheddar cheese and green chilis not be? Pickle & Pig had a performer playing acoustic music as well — both his own written songs as well as some great covers from the likes of Ryan Adams. This was a really nice touch. My one complaint is that the service could have been more coordinated. Getting served and attended to seemed to be a random process based upon luck rather than structure. The family eating style probably makes this somewhat more difficult, but still, the order of patrons coming in the door often did not align with who got waited on first once seated. I am sure they will figure it out over time, but it is something they need to correct for a lunch crowd that is coming between work meetings.

Excellent artisan sandwiches and soups. Hand-carved meats, house-baked breads, homemade soups and sides. Chef Sara North(formerly at Manna Bread and Wine) does a superb job crafting these sandwiches and soups. Community seating. Enter through the south middle doors of the Legacy Event Center. It’s great to have a really great sandwich place downtown! Finally!
