Heritage Farm Ice Cream & Restaurant

I live in walking distance of this place and love it. It has a good atmosphere and the staff are friendly. Their food and ice cream are great. I like how it’s located right across from the boulevard where they have all those events.

this review is just for the ice cream — so tasty! had the snickers and the Dutch almond chocolate and I was in heaven! husband had the strawberry and black raspberry and those were pretty yummy too. you can get your ice cream in a cup with a cone on top. really good!

Review for ice cream only: the worst ice cream I’ve ever had.
It has little flavor. Having grown up in Lowell I’m convinced it only still exists because of the location – it’s right there during all those summer activities on the blvd.

Heritage has sort of become an icon in Lowell. It is located on the super busy VFW highway and is directly across from the Sampas Pavilion. Aside from the Pavilion staging area where a lot of events are held, there is also a riverwalk and small beach area. The area features special events as well as weekly events, including a bike night, classic car night, and a kids night.
The location is perfect for this type of business and is the best part about it.
You can order through the windows outside or you can choose to walk in and order. There is dining inside and Heritage also offers a full menu as well featuring cheeseburgers, hot dogs, subs, etc. The food here is mediocre at best and well over priced for the quality.
I used to go here a lot for my ice cream cravings but have cut back the past couple years. They seemed to become a little on the cheap side when it comes to toppings. One dinky shot of hot fudge and 1 lousy cherry on my sundae? I remember getting fudge on bottom and top along with multiple cherries. Now they seem to nickel and dime you to death. Don’t get me wrong, the list of ice cream to choose from is impressive and the ice cream itself is great. But for the prices they charge, they could be a little more generous with toppings.
If I’m walking along the riverwalk on a summers eve and decide I want ice cream, I’ll head over there. But I don’t see myself going out of my way to come back.

Came here this weekend. Offered a view of the river and a crew/​rowing competition which was fun to watch. Got a strawberry cheesecake icecream on a waffle cone with sprinkles. They sell food too and there is a small seating area inside. It was a nice day so we sat outside at the picnic tables. Cute little place!

Note: Tuesdays during the summer is Bike night. Expect it to be loud, and a lot of people to pass through.
Food: When thinking about what size to order, make sure to order one size down from what you usually get. They really do pack on the ice cream, even in smaller portions. I had a coupon for a free small ice cream cone, and when I got it — it was equivalent to a regular sized cone from other places. I had strawberry, and it was great — it wasn’t icy, and it was just creamy enough.
Atmosphere: One of the few advantages this establishment has over other ice cream places — is the connected restaurant portion (that opens later than normal). It’s pretty standard fare inside (burger/​fries/​etc), but it means a lot during those hot dog days of summer. It is also located across the street from the stage where there are a lot of events during the warmer seasons.
Staff: You know they’re serious when they all wear uniforms to serve ice cream.
Final Thoughts: I would definitely come back here during the summer to enjoy the local festivities.
