Canton Palace/Osaka Steakhouse

I am so disappointed for my hometown. You have no good Chinese restaurants. But, according to Unilocal ratings, you do have a couple, this being one of them. So we tried it. Disappointing.
Ambiance 5 stars
This is a nice facility. There are two restaurants in one, the east side being for their hibachi style menu and the other for their Chinese menu. There is a bar in between.
The Chinese side is separated into areas separated with tall, dark-​stained wood walls. Classy looking. Each area has about 8 or 9 tables. We were their in the evening and the lighting was sufficient, not too dark but light enough to enjoy one’s company and food. The tables are new with a fancy top.

The greeter was pleasant. Our waitress was cheerful and polite. She was helpful, but also just a tad spacey. She forgot some things on four separate occasions, none of which was a big deal. But we liked her very much in spite of that.

I place a lot of weight in this category and it makes up a good 60% of my consideration. The food here, while not bad, was spectaculary void of flavor.
Our pork lo mein was a good example of flavorless. The pork was breaded and fried. That was a first for me. I’ve never had breaded, fried pork in lo mein before. Even adding soy sauce and hot mustard to the mix did not help very much.
The lemon chicken was just the breaded lemon chicken they use for their sweet and sour chicken. That’s just a guess, but that’s exactly what it looked like. They provide a sauce that you ladle onto the chicken. This is not like the customary breaded, fried, and sliced chicken breast with the sauce already on it, served with lemon slices as a garnish. The sweet and sour style breading does not lend to soaking up the lemon sauce like a true lemon chicken would. The chicken was also ever so slightly over-​cooked.
The moo goo gai pan was the best of the three entrees. The chicken was cooked fine, thought not the most tender I’ve ever eaten, but it was fine. The sauce was pretty good, if not just a hair too salty. Good variety of water chestnuts, zucchini, some carrot, a little bit of cabbage, some oh, I found it mushrooms (I think there were three pieces), and about five shrimps. Not bad, not great, but not bad.
The egg rolls had no meat and were just cabbage egg rolls. Big and fat. They were OK, not great, but OK. My hot and sour soup was a little heavy on the soy sauce in the broth. But it was OK.
Since I am finding as I go through life, that every area has its own tastes for what is «good.» So if you are a Lovelander, I would recommend you try this out and see if you like it. Judging by the Unilocal reviews, you’ll probably like it.

Very good food and service. Came here with my family for my birthday and I had a amazing time. My twin 3 year olds had a blast and the Chief was so good with them.

Great hibachi dinner! Food was great, cooked perfect and enjoyable time. Also if you want the best bang for your buck and a fun night, try the volcano MaiTai be sure to share! They could have been just a little quicker on the appetizers and drinks but it worked out, We will be back again!

We love the beef teriyaki bowls! Makes for an affordable dinner with leftovers. We are regulars and usually have good service.

We got the Pad Thai and General’s Chicken. Both were listed as being spicy but were bland in taste. The prices and portion sizes are good. Service was a bit on the slow side. Overall, it was an ok experience.

The food is great here and we’ve been many times. Sitting at the hibachi table with other parties is always fun to watch the show put on by the chef. I’m getting better at catching shrimp in my mouth instead of it bouncing off my forehead. :)
But, the last time the three of us were there we were shocked by the bill. I added a generous 20% tip, plus gave some cash to the hibachi chef, as we usually do. Then, I noticed in small print several lines above the giant font for «Tip» that the owner had already included a 19% tip. Now, I’ve heard of an automatic gratuity being added for large groups, but three of us?
So, it got worse when I pointed out to the owner what had been done. He asked me if I had wanted to add more tip, as if he didn’t understand. Then, he berated me in Chinese to his assistants. Finally, I was able to get him to create a new bill after much arguing on my part and grumbling on his part. Still, I tipped 15% only because it wasn’t the fault of the servers.
We may go back, but I will definitely closely check the bill. You should do the same.

This place was recommended to me by a few locals for overall great food. We went late for hibachi and it was almost 30 minutes until close and they still let us in and we had a fabulous time. They accommodated us like they would if there were multiple customers seated for hibachi. The food was excellent and the staff were so nice and professional. I would recommend this place for group hibachi as it was fun, interactive and so good.

At this location I had two entrees. One was in the restaurant and one I had to go. The one I had in the restaurant was the sweet and sour combo. It contained chicken, shrimp and pork. but since all the meats were breaded and deep fried, it all tasted the same, the vegetables in the dish were only a few pieces of green bell pepper, onion and pineapple. the pineapple tasted very odd, as if it was left out all day and spoiled. The other was triple delight a la sichuan, this one was alot better with good balance of meat to vegetable ratio. I could taste the different flavors of the meats and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. The staff was friendly and the place was clean.

Very satisfied with my family dinner here. The food was good, the service was friendly, and the prices were fair. Beers are only 2.75, and the owner came to check on us several times. We will be back!

An incredible Asian restaurant. The Habachi grill is absolutely the best! Very classy place!

What a great experience. Daughter bought a groupon as a gift so went thanks to her and had a positive experience.
The portion sizes were very large and had great flavor. Let the pictures speak for themselves.

This place surpasses any other Japanese/​Chinese Bistro my husband and I have been to in Northern Colorado! The staff is friendly and the food is WONDERFUL! The General Tao Chicken and Candy Walnut Shrimp are our favorites. We usually start off with a large Osaka salad for both of us to share. It is very simple but the dressing is to die for. My husband and I practically lick our plates clean. The only thing I would say we don’t like about the place is it seems the booths/​tables/​décor is a little out dated and run down but food more than makes up for that. Best kept little secret in Loveland!

Ordered with their online website. Drove in 15 mins later, and order just came out. So online ordering is good, about 15mins on a not busy weekday.
I had sesame chicken with crab rangoon. The rangoon was not good. It was cooked ok, just flavorless. both the filling was bland and the wrapper as well.
But the chicken was very good. Cooked perfectly, nice and crispy, with a nice sauce. I asked for «Extra spicy» but it wasn’t spicy at all. It was also a LARGE portion, more than enough to feed two people. Overall was good and would order again and recommend it to others.
Just takeout, but seems like a nice place, front staff was friendly and will definitely be back for something new.

I have been to Canton Palace twice, both with an open mind. However, both my experiences left me with stomach pains, and I wasn’t the only one who felt this way. The first time I ordered the tofu with lemongrass, which had no lemongrass flavor (let alone flavor) and was very oily. I only ate half my meal. The second time I went a more conservative route and ordered steamed vegetables in a bamboo basket with brown rice. Okay selection of vegetables, but I think the culprit is in the sauce. At the time it tasted good, but had horrible pains later that night. Both times I ordered the tofu crystal rolls– good sauce, but I would like a better selection of vegetables in the rolls, not just noodles and lettuce. I will not be back. I recommended you don’t waste your money here.

Have always loved Canton Palace for eat in but SO disappointed in «Order Up» meal! $ 40 plus order and only sent 1 small cup (½ full) of sweet and sour and ½ full tiny cup of hot mustard. The food was cold and not very impressive! Will eat at restaurant from now on.

Don’t waste your money — the wonton soup had about ¼ t. of meat and the spring rolls are super small and the shrimp was just slivers. Has really gone downhill in the last few years.

We enjoyed it very much. The food was great and the cook didn’t kill my kids while flipping his knives around which is a plus

Overall not extremely impressed. I wouldn’t avoid altogether but also won’t make it my go to place either. My lunch consisted of hot and sour soup and pepper steak. The hot and sour soup was a little runnier than I like. I like the consistency more along the lines of PF Changs which is thicker.
My pepper steak was very oily. Not sure if the chef put in too much wok oil or if this is again just their standard consistency.
Lastly, no egg roll came as part of lunch Sorely disappointed in that.

The firecracker shrimp was very good. It has a nice pepper bite to it.
Rice options are steamed, fried and brown. I had the brown rice and it was cooked properly.
The Executive Dinner includes a spring roll, krab Rangoon and soup. I has the hot and sour soup which was a bit mild but very tasty. I am saving my eggroll, simply because it was huge!
Our waiter packed our leftovers and brought a container for the plum sauce from the eggrolls without being asked.

The best place in Loveland to get less-​Americanized Chinese food. I still prefer to get my fix of fried, sauced mystery meat at Main Moon, but the flavors are a bit more authentic here. You still get a very Americanized take on things, but it’s less than other places.
I’m not sure if you can get jellyfish, chicken feet, and whole fried fish here, but if you can I would give it five stars. I haven’t been in a few months, which might explain my jonesing for Chinese.
