Interesting experience here. It’s a Hawaiian-themed tasting room which feels somewhat out of place in the middle of rustic Los Olivos, except for me, anything Hawaiian puts me in a good mood. It’s all about the aloha. The wines were subtle in style but solid. The ladies pouring the vino were friendly but in a sales-y kind of way. I was told – twice – that the owner/winemaker was labeled the«King of Grenache» by US Airways. Consider that for a moment. Is that a compliment? If US Airways likes your wine, sure, that’s great, but I personally wouldn’t use that particular line when selling my product. On the other hand, the Grenaches here are indeed good and I walked out with a bottle. Kaena is an interesting change of pace from your typical winery or wine tasting room.

The service was personable and friendly, despite being alone and us bringing a crowd(my husband and I have a habit of doing that.) She was able to work both groups(the other party was about 5 people) with efficiency. I loved the vibe here. I think the 1000 cranes was my favorite, just made it feel like a happy place. That being said, not everyone in this area cares about atmosphere — just give me good wine — so now I’ll speak to that. As previously mentioned, I was on a rose kick, and theirs didn’t disappoint. The Grenache, though, was probably the highlight. It was delicious! If you only have time to stop in here for one thing, just go with that. I mean, it’s something I’ll be talking about(and dreaming about both before and after we consume the bottle we brought home.) If you’re already headed into the quaint little town of Los Olivos, make sure you hit up the Hawaiian-style tasting room. You won’t be sorry. Unless, you’re like me and don’t buy one of the hats you fell in love with and are kicking yourself for that. :)

I’ve been working in the hospitality business for many years. I’m Italian born and raised and I had the privilege to taste and visit many wineries all over the globe. I live and work in Los Angeles and my regular«wine getaway» destination is the Santa Ynez Valley. Without going into details, I visited lots of tasting rooms and wineries in the last several years and they are all great. Kaena Tasting Room though, have something that keeps me wanting to go back and actually take home cases of their wonderful Grenache. First of all Chloe! She is the greatest host in the valley, her passion and knowledge for the wines she propose is outstanding. Last time me and my girlfriend were there we also spent some time with Sarah… another great asset to the company. Loved spending time with her too! Me and my girlfriend had the privilege to bump into Mikael(the winemaker) a couple of times(while I was carrying on my shoulders a case of his fantastic Grenache). I can only wish I could spend a day with him picking his brain about wine making. You must stop by if you are touring Santa Ynez/Los Olivos Valley. Great job to Mikael, Chloe and Sarah!

Nuts, rushed from another winery to join their wine club and buy a few bottles of wine only to be turned away at 450pm(hours are to 5pm). A whole party inside drinking and having a good time and was told they closed 7 minutes ago… Even pleaded that we were here to buy. That’s too bad… Still enjoy their wine so I’ll give them 2 stars, would have been 5 if they accommodated us tonight.

The Grenache King produces some of the best Rhones in SYV. Took a bottle of the Hapa Red to a family reunion and had it with a leg of lamb roast, paired perfectly and was the favorite wine that we had over the weekend. The Larner Grenache is phenomenal, as are their crisp whites. Cool tasting room and great friendly and knowledgeable staff, a must stop in Los Olivos!

Some of the best wines in the area. The Mourvèdre, the Happa oh my. Good value. Hope it stays that way.

This is the winery that turned me into a red wine drinker. This is the first place I’ve been where everything I drank I liked, that doesn’t normally happen. I love being a wine club member here, they treat you like family. The wine is awesome, so are the people. I highly recommend this place. The owner is known as the Granache King. You should definitely come taste here!

New Years Day we roll into this place. The people there are super cool! The wine is really good! Grenache so good I cried! LITERALLY! The winemaker signed our bottles & told some very cool stories about how he came to wine making. The staff is upbeat friendly & very welcoming. We really enjoyed this place! Everything about it! I highly recommend! Good vibes, good people, really good wine! I hope you enjoy as much as we did! Good stuff!!!

Located in the heart of Los Olivos, this tasting room provides the spirit of aloha. Kaena wines are deliciously hand-crafted. A big mahalo to Hawaiian born, Mikael Sigouin for crafting such delicious wine offerings.

Personable and friendly staff that were very knowledgable of the wines. Enjoyed my tasting here and would recommend stopping in if you make your way through Los Olivios.

They poured the wine and walked away. No idea why they ignored us most of the time we were in there. Maybe because it was close to closing? There was one other couple there and the pourers focused their attention on them the whole time. Don’t normally complain about customer service, but wine tasting has a lot of customer interaction involved and I missed that part of it here. Wine itself was mediocre, not a lot of variety.

Great wine, but bad customer service for wine club members. I cannot recommend the wine club, as much as I love the wine. Multiple emails went unresponded, voicemails unanswered. Solution to problem promised, but not delivered. I would be unemployed if I served my customers this way.

Two words: GOHERE. Picture it: Three ladies at Los Olivos wineries on a quiet midday afternoon, make their way from place to place. We were recommended this place and I’m so glad we did. The wine is to die for and Chloe was AMAZING! Loved the undivided attention she gave us and explaining to us about the wine and the wine makers. I purchased the Rose which is fabulous, the only thing I regret is not getting any more! Highly recommended!
