Tassin Terrazzo

Stefano was an absolute pleasure to work with! We interviewed three different, highly rated contractors to repair our terrazzo stairs in the Richmond district. We selected Stefano because he was highly professional and knowledgeable. Also, his proposal was cost-​effective and addressed all of our concerns. Stefano was always prompt, pleasant to work with, very responsible, and a true/​dedicated craftsman. We highly recommend Stefano and would absolutely use him again for future jobs!

The owner, Stefano Tassin, did an outstanding job repairing cracks in our front staircase. They look like new. He is excellent to deal with — responsive to emails and phone calls, comes when he says he will, gives good explanations. I recommend him highly.

Stefano, a skilled Artisan from Rome redid our stairs recently.
i emphasize the ART in Artisan because the man is an Artist, Skilled Craftsman and Magician rolled into one.
Our stairs had many nicks, ships and cracks, but most notably was a clean break from one of the stairs.
First of all, Stefano was totally professional. He scheduled out his time accordingly, and when he was delayed by a day, he let us know almost a week in advance that he was running behind. When he was running 10 minutes late to meet us or start his job, he would call us. Unheard of from most people in the contractor biz.
His contracts were professional, and his deposit was reasonable.
The ART part:
Stefano is amazing. He sanded down the old stairs, filled the gaps with resin that he matched to the color of the stairs.
The big break? Stefano has pebbles that he orders from 3 – 4 different locations across the country to help match your terrazzo near exact. He hand placed the stones in the crack and resealed them in with the resin.
in addition, he rounded the stairs (bull nosed) to give it a nice finished look from the original slab edges.
The landing with tiles were acid washed and resealed.
I will post pics soon, but lets put it this way, the original owner’s daughter came by and couldn’t find the broken stair on the staircase.
Stefano’s price was also affordable.
I am hoping that he is able to pass his craft and knowledge later since what he does, is becoming a lost art.

Stefano finished with our entrance stairway this afternoon. He is very fair and honest.
The stairs are gorgeous! They are sealed, caulked, and look like they are brand new.
Not sure how old that stairway is, but it looks a 100% better than when he started.

Stefano was incredible. Not only did he fix our stairs, which we falling apart and had 3 metric tons of caulking placed by the previous owner just to hold them together, but he did it beautifully. Before we talked with Stefano we were told the entire staircase needed to be replaced and the cost would be just under $ 20,000. Needless to say, we got another bid. Stefano told us that we had rebar, it was strong and that the stairs could be fixed. His price was incredibly reasonable — I mean look at the before photos. He worked fast, he was honest, and also a great guy to talk to. Now every time my husband and I go down the stairs we smile — because they look awesome. It is amazing what makes you happy when owning a house. Anyway, do not look any further than Stefano. You too will have gleaming, dazzling stairs (see the after photos). And not only will you smile at the glory of your new stairs, but you will still have money in your pocket.

Our 65+ year old stairs had some big cracks and looked pretty drab. We did some research, got some bids (some of which were over the moon) and finally selected this company. Stefano came out and worked his magic. We cannot find where the biggest crack was repaired. He sealed the stairs and they sparkle. His work including cleanup was outstanding. On time, fair pricing — cannot recommend more highly.

Stefano is a true craftsman. He beautifully repaired and restored our broken, cracked, mis-​maintained terrazzo stairway in SF’s Richmond district. He was honest, well-​priced, and did an amazing job. He was considerate of our home and our belongings, taking very special care ensure he protected the workspace, neighboring areas, and the areas underneath the stairs. My front stairs are like new after three days with Stefano Tassin. We hired him to redo the terrazzo steps to address a recurring leak, which I am confident is taken care of. Every crack, nook and cranny have been filled and sealed. I never considered how beautiful the stairs would look when the job was done. Stefano is an artist and craftsman, who really enjoys what he does. And his work shows it. His friendly demeanor is another bonus. Reasonable price, excellent work, friendly craftsman. Can’t get better than that. My neighbors hired him immediately to do their steps.

Stefano repaired & refinished two of my neighbors terrazzo stair cases. I hired him for my stairs after seeing the beautiful, meticulous work he did. He worked diligently, was always on time & gave accurate descriptions of the processes needed for this type of repair. He is very professional & his fees are very reasonable. His price was less than another quote for just an acid wash and caulking and he did a fantastic job.
