Terry Berland’s Commercial Acting Workshop really helped me to think outside the box. I’m no longer feeling confined and limited when the sides for an audition only have 2 lines. Her teaching really helps you expand your range and create a textured performance in only a 15 second read. She really knows her stuff. I can’t recommend her enough to all my friends!

I like Terry, but if you’re going to pay for classes like my husband, you should know she can be a little unfocused at times. Know too that some of the agents at her showcases are regulars at workshops, perpetually collecting fees and signing «everyone.» That being said, there’s lots of good info.

Terry’s class was amazing! I just wrapped up the six-​week commercial intensive and already have interest from an agent. I’m a brand new actress, so the break down of beats, building a relationship with the camera and truly LIVING the character were so helpful.
The class has a variety of people with different skill levels, so it provides a great perspective for each person to build on their craft. Terry is very patient. She wants you to get it, and will go through different exercises to help you establish your type, and allow your true self to come forward as you embody another character. A great resource with a personal approach.

This is not a class where you will just learn some general commercial acting theory. Instead, you will actually gain the practical knowledge, skills, and techniques that are absolutely necessary when auditioning for commercials, and you are learning them from someone who knows the business, because Terry leads one of the busiest and most respected commercial casting offices in town.
This class provided an environment where I felt capable to reach beyond my comfort zone, and was able to really develop my commercial acting skills. There was a lot of trust in that room, and Terry is not afraid to set you straight where you are going wrong, just as well as encourage you when you are getting it right.
The best part is that, unlike other commercial training, this course emphasizes the importance and necessity of discovering what makes you uniquely YOU, so that you can be that person in the casting room. At the peril of sounding a little cheesy, I can confidently say that I left this class with a better understanding of myself and how to show that unique personality to the camera, which is something that I can never unlearn, and is far better than trying to remember lessons or techniques in that nervous moment when they turn on the camera.

Terry is amazing and extremely helpful. I learned so much from her audition to win class. I highly encourage all actors trying to get ahead in the acting world to take this class. She teaches you which emotional hill you should climb and at what moment. All hands on training. She tames your talent by pointing at your weak points and fixing them. She also helps you find your own voice, your essence, what makes you unique as a human being and as an actor on all bases commercially and theatrically. When you get to discover the beautiful human and the experienced industry lady within Terry, you will understand where I’m coming from. She takes you in a journey to a real commercial life scenario and shows you a step by step how to make a stand and how to look as much unique and interesting as possible in a room full of so many actors all coming for the same target. I can’t believe how much I learned in just six weeks. It excites me how every and each single note I took during this course really plays an intrinsic part in my performance and boosts my chances in booking roles after auditioning. She doesn’t change you, she doesn’t imposes a certain character or look on you; but she polishes you, she nurtures the artist and the actor within you. At the end of her course we had a showcase session to one of the big talent agencies in LA, and guess what? I was contacted by them for a meeting to discuss potential representation. Terry Berland is not only an excellent teacher, but one who truly cares about the success of each and every one of her students. I took her class shortly after arriving in Los Angeles three years ago, and have maintained a wonderful professional relationship with her to this day!
