Spring Street Mac – iPhone & Mac Repair

These guys are professional! I came in to get a hard drive replacement for my 2007 iMac. The computer is still salvageable so I thought Id get the drive replaced. They hooked it up for hundreds less than the Apple Store. I highly suggest coming here for repairs.

Pretty lame. Not happy with this place’s vibe or service. Paid $ 80 a month ago to have my phone fixed, a month later the adhesive was coming off, they hassled me about applying more, now a week later same issue. Unresolved and lame treatment by some of the staff. Some were cool but some were for sure lame.

I needed a new battery for my macbook. They ordered it and called me as soon as it came into the store (4 days or so). They installed the new batter in less than 20 minutes and their prices was very fair. Love these guys.

The great people of Spring Street Mac have saved me multiple times! The queen of dropping my phone on the floor in the toilet — u name it I’ve dropped it! Lol but they always repair my screen so quickly! They also help out on GP! Thanks so much guys! So appreciated!

Can’t say enough good things about these guys. I took in my 27 inch iMac, a late 2013 model, and ask them to install a solid-​state hard drive. They did so in under a day, were extremely reasonable in terms of pricing, and your genuinely very friendly.

Friendly, quick (and inexpensive) repair — I would recommend this location.

Hard drive on same laptop was on the way out. I rely on my computer like so many of us and was reluctant to leave my baby out of sight so I brought it here for a little look-​see. I think it was Mike who took it in the back and it was confirmed that it needed a new hard drive. It was 4 in the afternoon and they said it may be 2 days before it could be complete, which is a lifetime without a Mac these days. The next morning, less than 20 hours after dropping it off, I got a call telling me it was complete and ready for pick-​up, and at the low price they originally quoted me. Great service, once again!

For over $ 80 they sold me a refurbished charger for my Macbook pro that does not work properly. It overheats my computer and the terminal is not properly attached, leaving the cables exposed. Chargers are not returnable, thats the policy.
The owner of the store has contacted me to solve this matter. I will change the review accordingly as soon as I go back to the store.

The iphone 5 screen fix was reasonably priced ($ 80) and they did it in less than an hour. Can’t be mad at that!

Went to get my MacBook Pro screen fixed, cheaper than sending into Apple plus I got it back in two days.

I bought a 2013 computer here last week. After visiting the Apple Store right after, I decided to take it back to purchase a brand new one. They said we don’t do returns here. The best we can do is give you store credit. What store does not do returns? I was really disappointed and now I’m stuck with the old computer. If I knew that the computer was a final sale when I bought it, I would have never purchased it. Really upset!!!

[EDITED — 9/​14/​15] The owner did call me promptly upon reading the below review and handled the situation well. The charge for the battery diagnosis was refunded without my even asking, and I do believe that the owner was displeased with the service I received. I don’t know if I would return, but I have upgraded the rating to reflect his professional response. [END EDIT]
Just had a rather unsettling experience with Spring Street Mac. My employee has a MacBook Pro that is just over 12 months old and within one OS update of current. Her charger stopped working and I sent her down to Spring Street Mac with the company credit card to buy a new charger. Beyond being kind of annoying about the credit card (even though we have an account with them and have purchased multiple items in the past), it seemed like a fine transaction. She came back with a new, original packaging, Apple charger. A couple of days later, her computer’s battery was low and the new charger wasn’t charging, so we began to worry that it wasn’t ever the charger and that her MacBook had an issue. She went back down and the manager diagnosed her battery as nearly dead and said she could get it fixed at the Apple store under warranty or let them change the battery for $ 200. We decided to take it to the Apple store and, lo and behold, the battery tested as perfect and the Apple tech said the charger was a knockoff! We took photos and you can clearly see the difference between the two chargers. The fake one is on the right and the font isn’t even the same! Apple took the knockoff charger and gave us a new one in exchange.
I went back down to Spring Street Mac this afternoon and had a strange conversation. The manager told me that Apple has turned into an evil company and that they use a different way of diagnosing battery issues, and that he knows his distributors and they don’t buy knockoffs. Nothing really made sense. I’m just quite certain that I don’t trust this company and I won’t be patronizing them again.

The main problem is that the employees are incompetent. I expected to go to a place that has quality service, but Spring Street Mac is not a place like that. I ended up paying over $ 200 and they didn’t fix what I told them to fix. One of the employees told me something was wrong with the computer, and said they needed to reinstall the operating system. When I picked it up, they had charged me for a «tune-​up» and had not reinstalled the operating system. (Their «tune-​up,» by the way, is clicking a couple buttons in Disk Utility, which is something I had done before bringing the computer in, but they still charged $ 60 for it without my permission.). This is the equivalent of going to an auto-​shop for an oil change because they say you need an oil change, and then when you check-​out, they say they didn’t change the oil, but they gave you a tune-​up for $ 60… It’s ridiculous. I asked for a refund and instead they give me $ 10 back — still not doing the work they said they would do. The employee also denied responsibility, denied he made a mistake, which is a sure sign of incompetence (inability to do something successfully).
Also, they said they were going to call when the Mac was fixed, but didn’t call. I had to call them and ask about the computer (which is quite annoying when I need my computer for work, and I’m waiting on them for it).
I regret having gone to the store, and strongly recommend going to an Apple Store to fix your Mac (where they have smart technicians and considerate service).
Here’s the thing that makes me most mad though — I’m currently Googling how to fix my computer because I still need it fixed! After spending $ 200, losing a day of productivity, putting up with incompetent and annoying employees, I still have to figure out what’s going on with my computer and how to fix it. That is why they get 1-​star and not 2-​stars.

Professional, polite, and accommodating. I’ve been working with apple computers for the last 15 years and these guys immediately strike me as legit. Thanks for the adhesive strip (no one carries it).
Anecdotally speaking, I feel bad for the clientele they have to deal with.
If you had a negative experience here, I’m pretty certain YOU are the problem, not them.
You are possibly scared of technology because it makes you feel dumb. Projecting your insecurities onto a business run by people with families is a shitty thing to do.
Tech is complicated and it definitely aint cheap — you get what you pay for. If you have a cousin that can smuggle the parts direct from a Chinese factory and fix everything for a handjob, then fucking do it.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS
Worst possible service ever. Was in a bind to pick up a couple of apple routers. Their prices were outrageous, 30 — 40% over retail. When I asked them about it, they said it was a convenience fee!
I bought more than $ 400 with of parts, they said they couldn’t accept CC because they needed photo verification. I showed them a picture of my ID, but they still gave me a hard time. I didn’t end up using all the parts and called and asked if I could return it a week later. Manager said ok, drove half an hour there and the manager called me As i literally pulled up to the store to tell me that their return policy is 7 days and that they couldn’t accept it back. Then their other manager came outside and started yelling at me and telling me that he didn’t appreciate the review and that I am a Jerk!
Nice job guys, keep up the good work.

My girlfriends iPhone was accidentally sent through the wash last Monday morning. We retrieved it after only a couple of minutes, so we figured it might be possible to save it. Took it to Spring St. Mac and they informed me of the $ 40 «inspection fee.» I figured since they’re the «pros» it would be worth a shot. After a couple hours they called to let me know that the phone could not be fixed, because of a vaguely explained circuit board issue. I asked if there was anything that could possibly be done to fix the phone, and they replied with a short, «nope.»
I figured it wouldn’t hurt to take the phone to another shop a few blocks away for a second look. They charged me no inspection fee, letting me know up front that they would only charge me if the phone was fixed. It took 2 days, but by Wednesday they had fixed the phone completely, restoring all contacts, photos, and SIM card capabilities. Works like new.
Normally I wouldn’t complain about inspection fees. I understand the risk involved and that phones have a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of surviving water damage. But it does bother me when the phone was apparently very fixable, and they still felt comfortable taking my money and neglecting to actually attempt to fix the phone. For all I know the phone sat in their possession for a couple hours while they went to lunch.
I wouldn’t recommend taking your business to a morally questionable business like this.

I went in there today because I needed a charger for my MacBook Air. I was greeted as soon as I went in. There were two guys at the registers, I was helped by a white male who was very forward not rude but was only business. He cashed me out and told me I would have to remove all the plastic from the charger otherwise it wouldn’t work. The hispanic — looking guy in the next register was alot friendlier and told the other guy he should take the plastic off the charger. They were both nice, but the white male appeared annoyed .

My cousin brought my badly smashed iPad air off at Spring Street Mac to have the screen replaced after an unfortunate accident. They fixed it the same day, which was awesome. I went to pick it up and they wouldn’t release it to me, even though I had the passcode and described all of the information/​apps on my iPad. They said that my cousin needed to be the one to call in. 30 mins and $ 5 of parking later someone yells from the back, «Oh yeah, she called and said someone else would be picking it up.»
I was frustrated, but my iPad was fixed (the same day) so I didn’t worry too much about it.
This was a few months ago. A few weeks ago I started to notice that the screen was starting to come apart. Last week the touch sensitivity went crazy. My iPad started flickering and opening apps, closing apps… it was possessed. This morning I called in to see if they could take a look at it. It was a few days over the warranty but they said to come by and they’d look at it. If it was just that the screen needed to be glued back down, they’d take care of it. If anything needed to be replaced, however they’d need to charge me.
They looked at it and quelle surprise, decided it needed a new screen. I told them that that was the screen they put on, so it it was broken then they should replace it for free. They said that it didn’t matter because it was past warranty and the fact that they were even looking at it for free was a favor they were doing me. Then, and this is my favorite part, they graciously offered to cut me a deal if I let them repair it… again. I decided against that and left, feeling pretty upset.
The manager called my later in the day about this issue and agreed that the ipad should be fixed under the warranty. They not only replaced the screen the same day, but offered to ship it to me as getting downtown from Redondo Beach can be a bit tough on my days off. Told them that wasn’t necessary and picked it up, but appreciated the good customer service. REALLY happy that the manager stepped in and quickly rectified this situation. And my ipad looks good as new!
