Shalom Express Limousine

I ordered Shalom limo service for my daughters winter formal.
The limo driver Joe was amazing! The kids had a great time and he kept in contact with me through out the evening. He even took them on a sight seeing tour of LA.
I would highly recommend Joe to any of my friends and family

My wife and I have been using Joe for our ride needs from Irvine to LAX and it’s always top notch service! And u don’t meet to many non-​Indian people that know Hindi! 3 years of knowing him and he never once disappointed us.
He is always on time sometimes even 12hrs early but he will never leave u stranded. The dude must never sleep. He works late and is up at the crack of dawn for our early international flights.

Just booked a drop off pick up with joe and the customer service was surprisingly pleasing. I have been calling places all day and I’m glad I found this place on Unilocal because he really made my day. He was willingly work with me, which I haven’t been used to with other limo places. This firm is unreliable. I arranged in advance for a pickup to go to LAX. They did not show up at the arranged time. I made several phone calls and they repeatedly said that they would arrive in 10 to 15 minutes. I gave up and drove to LAX and had to leave my car in the extended stay parking lot. It was an expensive experience for me because of their irresponsibility. It will not happen again because I will never request their service again. They are not worthy of anyone’s patronage.

Shalom Express is our hands down our favorite hired car option! We’ve used them twice now and have been extremely pleased:
1) Spotlessly clean vehicles with complimentary bottled water and magazines
2) always on time
3) professional drivers who are clean, dressed up a bit and friendly
4) great communication: they will call and text you to let you know where they are
5) great value – inexpensive compared to other services.
6) good drivers – the ride is relaxing and calm, without the driver doing crazy maneuvers or honking the horn/​swearing at people.
Not as cheap as something like those shared Airport Express minivans, but those really suck and take forever.
I’m surprised to see they got some really negative reviews from past years. My guess is that they have really stepped up their game since receiving the bad reviews. So far, we haven’t been disappointed at all.

Yep, it’s pretty bad.
First time I used these guys, the driver is on time but guess what? Taxi driver felt there was no need to get out of the vehicle to help me put the 2 luggage I had to put in the trunk. Let alone greet me and ask if I needed any help.
Didn’t give a crap.
OK. Let’s test them one more time. Call the number. It’s a cell. Lots of noise. Guy sounds like he’s struggling to focus on my call. Like he has no pen to note down all the info of my request. I can already sense I’m betting big time on this.
And… taxi never showed up and was late for LAX to start with. Got super lucky and Yellow cab stops in my street dropping a customer.
Called, left a couple messages. Never called me back.
Don’t enter the service industry if you don’t plan to serve… 0 stars, well deserved.

I am surprised that this service has such good reviews. After using the service for a friend’s bachelorette party, it was the only vendor which I regretted choosing.
PROS:
— Very quick responses via text.
— Fun attitude on phone/​text, responded to every message with cheers.
— When he was going to be late, he texted us to let us know.
CONS
— Was late (this wouldn’t have precluded him from 5*s if the service was good.)
— He used his phone as a GPS while driving (this also wouldn’t have precluded him from 5*s if the service was good).
— The limo was dirty on the inside, there was a thick coating of dust on the sides and and broken things (maybe a speaker) hanging off the wall.
— The champagne was not iced. There was a package of ice in the side, but it was closed and not on the champagne.
— There was an already opened bottle of champagne in the limo.
— There were lipstick marks and dust on the champagne glasses. (Luckily, I had plastic wine glasses with me, as we were going for a picnic at the hollywood bowl)
— There were water bottles to drink, but some, the seal was broken and were half empty.
Worst of all, the attitude of Joe. I thought Joe was going to be really fun due to the reviews and our correspondence previously. He was upset when he got there and mentioned something about the couple before us who had the limo (maybe why he was late). He had none of the gusto he had while corresponding and the entire trip he had a frustrated vibe coming from him. He got really frustrated when we made a stop which I had asked him if we could make before he picked us up, he was however on the rude side before hand. Had he told us he couldn’t stop, I was planning on getting it before, but he told us we could.
*He took a picture for us and opened the door and did all the things he had to do, but did not seem happy about it.
Using Shalom Express Limo was the lowpoint of our entire weekend and the only thing I planned where Unilocal failed me. The person who said he is her guy to use almost sounds like a fake review. His limo looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. It was disappointing that we couldn’t drink out of the dirty glasses, and the fact that I had plastic glasses was only because of the event we were going to. I know a great attitude could possibly make up for those things and this may be where Joe had an off night.
I will never use Joe again and suggest using a different service if possible. I am not an overly picky person. We were going to use Joe on our return trip, but I truly felt we paid too much and would have had more fun if we went in separate taxis. Unfortunately we cancelled the return trip with short notice on Joe. When you are celebrating a special event, you don’t want to do your best to keep an unhappy vendor from spoiling your night (as we had to). 10 or 20 dollars more is worth it.

We used Shalom Express twice now and they are pretty solid.
The good: communication is great with these guys. Joe is friendly, the drivers are nice and showed up on time. They were helpful at loading luggage and they were patient because we had to install car seats for our kids. Prices are good.
The bad: we had a van both times, because we are a family of 5. The van is pretty old, and many of the seat belts were questionable, especially for using car seats. While the drivers are nice, they aren’t terribly professional. Our first driver had to stop for gas, and also didn’t know the way to Burbank airport! It all ended up taking maybe 20 minutes longer, but it wasn’t a huge deal as we had allowed for extra time. Our second driver refused to take a credit card and made us stop at an ATM on the way back. And then when my husband got out to use the ATM, the driver got out to use the restroom!
But all in all, I think the good outweighs the bad.

I guess I should have just stopped while I was ahead. Shalom limo did make up for a horrible experience, so I decided to use him for a 3^rd time. We had an early morning flight out of John Wayne and Joe had rememembed me and was excited that I was giving him repeat business. Well, I talked to him the night before and guess what? No pick-​up in the morning and again, no one answered when I called. We had to take a cab to the airport and I never heard back from them. Shalom is exactly what you don’t want in a car service, UNRELIABLE.
Joe at Shalom Limo definitely redeemed himself and earned a good review. Joe felt bad about a previous bad experience and offered to make it up to us. Hesitantly, we took him up on the offer since it was a ride to the airport for our honeymoon. I should not have been worried. Joe took care of us and everything went smoothly. I will definit

Second time we’ve gone with Joe, and he was great both times. Good communication the whole night, and when a friend left her phone in the limo, drive out the next day to drop it off. Will definitely call Joe again.

Do not use these guys! I booked with them two months in advance for a morning pick up. The guy told me to call back and confirm a day before my flight. This should have raised a red flag, because any company interested in keeping customers would have taken it upon themselves to call me to confirm. Anyhow, I emailed three days in advance to confirm my pick-​up in addition to calling the day before to confirm. They replied «Yes, sir!!!’ to my email and said as much to me when I confirmed by phone.
After all this and several frantic attempts to reach them the morning of my flight, they stood me up and I ended up having to drive myself to the airport and pay to park my car at one of the lots. I also nearly missed my flight. Do not use these guys.

I ordered three months in advance a towne car to pick two of us from the international arrival area for Sunday, June 26, 2011, at 1:30 pm. The two of us were arriving from Europe. When we landed, I called Yosef, the owner, to be prepared to pick us up out front. No problem he says. I called twenty minutes later to let him know that we were through passport control and customs and on our way out. No problem he says. We wait twenty minutes out front… no Yosef.
Then I get a call from a stranger telling me to look for a white van, which eventually arrives. The van was a 15 person van… I think the van was what another reviewer was ordering, but never got! ha! [See review below]
Anyway, the van was a mess! Rolled up tin foil balls from left over food, empty water bottles, and empty Starbuck coffee cups all over the floor and in the drink holders by the driver seat. The van was dirty and unvacuumed with the driver’s disorganized papers everywhere between the two front passenger seats. Driver had no GPS and needed directions from us. Yosef even called while we were in the van and attempted to take zero responsibility for his no arrival by stating traffic was awful. Well, one… it was Sunday early afternoon and there was no traffic on the 405 all the way into the OC; and two… all of us, especially a professional driver in LA, always plans for traffic! His excuses were just that… excuses demonstrating his poor organization and basic underlying manipulative behavior.
Oh yeah… I almost forgot, when picking us up three weeks earlier in the OC to take us to LAX, Yosef did come on time in an unwashed towne car with a friend in the front seat… who he attempted to pass off as a trainee. Problem was, the trainee was wearing sweat pants and a T-​shirt… and never assisted with any of the luggage. Yeah… I have a fish story for you!

Shalom is my absolute go-​to for car service in and around LA. Joe is so personable and accommodating, which we all know in LA is tough when your job involves traffic.
I have used Shalom to go to and from LAX as well as for various drives between Santa Monica and Hollywood. They are always prompt and eager to help in any way possible. I’m pretty sure I’ll never use a taxi again.

I used Shalom when my husband and I were going to Hawaii. We had an early flight at 5am and they were there right on time. The vehicle was old and nothing fancy but we paid only $ 35 which was half of what we would’ve paid, had we taken a taxi.
The driver was friendly and helped us with our luggage. If you want something with no frills, cost effective and gets you to the airport on time then Shalom is the way to go!

Great service, very nice drivers, and good prices.

I called Shalom Express Tuesday for a Wednesday 6AM pick up to LAX from the Valley. The driver was early and let me know he’d be waiting, the price was less than most other services and I had no troubles whatsoever.
I had booked my ride home with them as well, and despite catching an early flight unexpectedly, they were able to make a quick adjustment and a driver was waiting for me without any issues.
If you get their voice mail, leave a message. My call back was within two minutes.

I wish there was a way to deduct stars from these lying and irresponsible people.
I called around 5 o clock for an 11 o clock arrival at LAX for my boss, who had been traveling for a week and had been awake for about 24 hours. I needed someone reliable because my boss had his wallet stolen earlier. All day he had been dealing with flight delays.
The man on the phone, Joe or Yousef, assured me numerous times not to worry. He confirmed that someone would wait for him in the terminal and would keep an eye on the flight. He even told me to do a little advertising for them. At that price, I said sure, why not.
Later on in the evening we find out that the flight is delayed. Another employee calls to check on the car service because the flight was coming in after midnight. Joe once again assured him that he was keeping an eye on things but that he had to charge $ 10 more dollars for an after-​midnight pick-​up. We obviously agreed because we were still getting a good price.
I called several times after midnight to be sure someone was coming. I wanted to make sure my boss got in a car safely. Unfortunately, no one answered. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I thought maybe these were courteous professional drivers who didnt take calls on the road.
My boss arrives after a grueling day of travel. The last thing you want after delays all day is some lame-​ass to never pick you up. To make matters worse, this lame-​ass company leaves a man without any money or sufficient cell phone battery alone at LAX after midnight.
I found out about this in the morning. I called to check on the matters. Joe swears that the driver was there from 11 to 12:30 waiting for my boss.
Why would the driver be there at 11 when we called and told them it was being delayed and had to pay an extra 10 dollars? Why did the driver not call any of the numbers provided him in order to reach my boss, myself, and the other people looking after the flight? Why did Joe assure us that someone would be there when someone wasn’t? Why did this mysterious driver not call when he supposedly didnt see my boss? WHY DID NO ONE SHOW UP?
Why does Joe still not have any answers to these questions? Why is Joe currently avoiding my calls? Why does Joe think everything is still okay because he didnt charge the company credit card?
Even better question: Why is Joe trying to convince me that my boss’ flight never arrived? He acknowledged that there was a flight, and he acknowledged that it was coming in after midnight, so why deny its existence only a day afterward?
This company has no morals and no sense of integrity and no responsibility. They do not hold themselves accountable for their mistakes and instead make themselves sound stupid by telling obvious lies. Airport transportation is not something to be taken lightly, but Shalom Express Limousine seems to think it is okay to commit a ride, confirm more than once that someone will be there and still manage to fuck it up. Shrugging your shoulders and saying «OOPS» does not get anyone to call you ever again.
DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY EVER. I DONT BELIEVE ANY OF THE GOOD REVIEWS IT GOT AND I EXPECT MANY MANY MORE NEGATIVE REVIEWS IF THIS COMPANY CONTINUES THIS BULLSHIT IT CALLS A BUSINESS.
I HOPE THIS REVIEW HURTS THIS BUSINESS AND I HOPE IT CONVINCES JOE TO CALL ME AND GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS.

My husband and I have used Shalom for a total of 3 rides to or from LAX, and it’s become the service we’ll use if we don’t want to bother a friend to take us down to LAX. We live in Eagle Rock, so it’s not exactly close, but Shalom only charges $ 39! This is for the both of us, and a private car (no sharing the vehicle, a la some of the other shuttle services). I love the direct trip and avoiding having to leave way early because we’re picking other people up.
It is a quick & easy call or email to book, and they have always been on time or early. We have ridden in both a van and an SUV, and for the first-​time rider, expect a bare bones, older vehicle. I was a little taken aback my first time, but the driver was nice and we got to the airport quickly, which was what mattered.
Bottom line, if you want friendly, personalized car service at a can’t-be-beat price, call Shalom.

UPDATE SEPT 7^th — As you can see below, I gave them an opportunity to make up for their negligence. After a promise to make up for my last experience, this company once again flaked. I was stiffed on a 5:15am pickup promise this morning and my girlfriend had to drive me to LAX.
