Evelyn is amazing! This post is long overdue but better late than never. I didn’t know what hair style I wanted for my wedding so she tried different ones on me and it looked so good. She did my hair and makeup for my engagement shoot and wedding. My makeup was flawless. I couldn’t have been happier with her work.

Evelyn of Serene Bridal Beauty made me feel more beautiful than I ever have in my entire life. That sounds like an exaggeration, but I swear it’s not! I had a few basic ideas about what I wanted for my wedding hair and makeup, but she went above and beyond. Both my sister and I were thrilled with how our looks turned out, and we got compliments all night. She was a professional and relaxing presence on our big day and I am so happy we found her. This was one of the few parts of wedding planning that was NOT a headache. Let me preface by saying that Evelyn and I were childhood friends, but I hadn’t seen her in about 20 years. I had, however, followed and been wowed by her work on social media and always told myself that if I were to get married, I’d hire her to do it. What a good decision that turned out to be.
Since we had an early ceremony and had 8 ladies to prep, Evelyn and her assistant Sarah came to the boonies of West Marin the night before so that they could start at the crack of dawn on wedding day. They worked like a well-​oiled machine despite the chaos and the bourbon shots being passed around the room. I was pretty vague about what I wanted both during our preview and on wedding day. But they were total pros and made everything come together… The makeup and hair fit the soft wedding tones and farm wedding ambience to a T. They also prepped our picky moms, which was no easy task. Then, once each girl was finished, they quietly packed up and left, without disturbing the moment.
I find that many makeup artists have a difficult time with Asian complexions, and I’m usually left with the wrong base color and an eyeshadow application that looks as if I’ve been punched in the face. Evelyn, on the other hand, knew exactly what she was doing and even managed to work some magic on my monolids. She did a terrific job on the Caucasian complexions as well… Such a good job that one of the bridesmaids and another wedding guest have both asked her to do their weddings.

WOW! I’m so grateful I hired Serene Bridal Beauty/​Evelyn for my wedding. Evelyn did a really amazing job making me look and feel like myself — just a more glamorous version. This was really important to me and I could’nt have been happier with the results. Evelyn worked quickly and efficiently and was totally flexible. Also, my makeup and hair lasted all day (about 10 hours) — through some wind, crying and crazy dancing. I have had past experiences getting my hair and makeup done for weddings and dances, and this was the best. Evelyn did a great job at keeping my look natural, yet polished. She picked colors that did just the right job at giving my skin some life, without overpowering my face. The products she used never once faded and wasn’t packed on thick, which was my biggest fear considering that I have very oily, blotchy and not the smoothest skin. How she managed to get just the right amount of coverage without looking overly done is just a testament to her skills. My hair and makeup withstood the hot weather, my tears and a whole day of celebrating.
My bridal party all loved their updo’s by Meghan, who did such a great job at keeping the curls intact, incorporating cool braids and twists, and just making every girl’s hair so original and beautiful. Plus, Evelyn and Meghan were so cool to work and chat with that they really helped make my wedding day prep so much more enjoyable!
Communication was super easy and Evelyn is so sweet to work with — she made all my anxieties about how I was going to look go away and trusting this part of my wedding to her totally paid off. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for hair/​makeup services for any special occasion.

Every bride knows that it is very important when it comes to choosing the perfect makeup artist. I had no doubt in selecting Serene Bridal Beauty for my wedding day after seeing some of the other photos of brides she had previously done before. Evelyn did a great job not only on my wedding day but also on my engagement photos as well. I was really happy with the end result on both occasions. Amazing service, quality, professionalism, and personality. Evelyn is super sweet and made everyone in my wedding party (bride included) look gorgeous for the big day, and her assistant the day of did great work as well. Makeup was flawless and not too heavy (we decided against airbrushing, but it is available) and hair was beautiful, comfortable, and not overdone. I typically wear very light make-​up, so having a natural look was my first priority. Evelyn did just that, and did it better than I could have imagined. Evelyn was both prompt and professional, and instantly made me comfortable in her hands. During my preview, she was so good at identifying what elements I liked in sample photos and modifying them to fit my style. I’m a perfectionist, and she was so patient with fixing every little thing to look perfect. The amount of makeup she used was just right to a tee, and I loved how natural it looked. All of my family members and my fiancé were impressed. I highly recommend Serene Bridal Beauty!

Evelyn. She made me the most beautiful I have ever been & felt, as a bride. From the get go, upon comparison to other hair & make-​up, SBB is a real bang for your buck! And another bonus is that they come to you for the preview. Evelyn did such a great job at my preview that one of my bridesmaids booked her for her wedding next year.

I don’t normally wear makeup, and have had short hair for years, so I tried to convince myself I didn’t need makeup and hair done for my wedding. Somehow, however, I had a moment of clarity a few months out and realized I needed some serious help. My wedding photographer Tracy (of Cameron Leung Photography) was kind enough to deal with my panic and recommended Serene Bridal Beauty.
I got in touch with Evelyn and she was super flexible in scheduling my trial appointment, which was a great help since we only had one more trip to LA scheduled before our wedding – IIRC she met me at 7am at our hotel. She listened to my concerns, saw my photos of my dress and flower inspiration, and got to work. And she made me look awesome – like me, but better. Considering we’d arrived from NYC at something like 1am the previous night and I looked like the living dead when I woke up, I knew right then she had mad skillz.
When it came to our wedding day, Evelyn showed up at 6:30am so that we’d have time to do bridal portraits before our 11am ceremony. Again, I hadn’t slept the night before, but she still made me look fabulous. Looking back at our photos, you’d never guess how exhausted I was – all you see is the bridal glow. Thank you Evelyn!

Evelyn is THE BEST!!! Not only have I worked with her on a professional level (I’m a wedding photographer), but I have also had the pleasure of getting my hair and makeup done by her as well.

I was nervous finding a someone to do my hair and makeup for my wedding. I did the normal things most brides do and go to a bridal show and check out different vendors. I was overwhelmed with coupons and free makeup application kiosk. I don’t wear a lot of makeup and didn’t want to look overdone for my wedding. My sister and friend (who were with me during my preview), also agreed and really liked my look/​consultation. Evelyn did an excellent job on my wedding and bridal makeup. Being a wedding photographer I can definitely say that having a good makeup artist is one of the key components to a confident and beautiful bride and that comes through in the pictures. I have had the opportunity to work with Evelyn on a few occasions and see her work and I have always been more than pleased with her attention to detail and attentiveness to my brides. I love that they never look «overdone» but just like themselves enhanced. Evelyn is by far my go to makeup artist when I am recommending one to a bride and I hope to have the chance to work with her many more times!

My wedding took place in Westminster, California, during July 2011, but I first met Sarah Jones, one of the lead stylists for my preview in February 2011. She met me at my hotel room (because I live two hours away) and was extremely personable. I showed her a photo of what I wanted as well as a photo of my dress and she dolled me up exactly the way I wanted to. She is extremely organized and communicates well via phone or email… which was a must for me since I wasn’t in the area much. Before she left the preview, I gave her my deposit and provided her with photos of my bridesmaids’ dresses as well.
On the morning of my wedding, she arrived early to set up. She was very systematic in the order she was going to do everyone’s hair and make-​up. My bridesmaids brought photos of what they wanted, and she recreated their looks on the fly… but perfected the look to make them look better than what they had showed her. My hair and makeup was perfect and lasted from noon to 11 PM without touching up. I had expressed with Sarah prior to my wedding day that any eye makeup would create raccoon eyes within minutes of application. She had two solutions for that and lo and behold… no racoon eyes the entire day!
I would absolutely love to work with Sarah Jones again for any event! Thank you, again!

I was new to the area when I started planning my Pasadena wedding. I assumed I would get my hair, makeup, etc for myself family and attendants at a nearby salon. I actually tried a few out and none of them met my vision. Nothing was special enough. I shared this with my wedding planner who immediately recommended Serene Bridal Beauty.
I gave Evelyn a call and we set up a time to meet for a «rehearsal». I was able to schedule it for the same day as my engagement photos. Evelyn was exactly one time and brought everything she needed — including plenty of extension cords! We discussed the look i wanted (I had no idea) and she went to work stopping along the way to discuss what I thought of this shade or that, did I want to accentuate my eyes, etc. and also reminding me that I would be looking at these wedding photos for the rest of my life so speak up now! Everything went very well and my hair and makeup looked spectacular in the photos. I stayed in full hair and makeup all day!
The day of my wedding she came with a full crew to handle the mothers, aunts, sisters, and cousins. My flower girl was 5 years old and they pampered her and made her feel so special. At first all the attention was intimidating, but Evelyn made her feel so comfortable that she was quickly enjoying herself and LOVED the way her curls looked and had fun with the little lip gloss. (She ended up being the star of the show!)
I can’t thank Evelyn and her team enough for their professionalism as well as beauty talent. Once the hair was done and the makeup was on it was time for the veil. I was officially a bride.

My best friend got married and hired Serene Bridal Beauty to do her makeup and hair along with all of us bridesmaids. Personally I loved my hair and makeup and the bride look BEAUTIFUL! My bf loved what Evelyn did and it was exactly what she described for what she wanted.
My bf had a preview session with Evelyn and they spent 3 hours discussing and trying different things until they were both happy. She even found some hair pieces she wanted to use for her bridesmaids and was able to get Evelyn’s opinion on how to incorporate them into our hairstyles via email in the days leading up to her wedding.
On the big day, Evelyn and her team did an amazing job. They worked very efficiently. The bride even had the chance to rest her eyes and relax before heading out to make her grand entrance! These girls are very professional, they will answer any questions you have while they are doing your hair or makeup as well. All the bridesmaids wanted different hairstyles which we found in various magazines and the Serene Bridal Beauty team catered to us all!
Best part was that my hair lasted the entire day and night! Got plenty of compliments on the hair and makeup too!

Serene Bridal Beauty is a professional and talented team. During my preview, Evelyn (owner) was thorough and went over in detail on how to achieve the best look for me. She was understanding, patient and honest. Evelyn even explained hairstyle lingo — e.g. «structured» vs. «textured,» etc. We went over pictures of hair/​makeup styles that I liked. While reviewing the pictures, she pointed out and explained the differences and similarities so I was able to narrow down my look better. I also wanted to make my hair thicker for my up do, and she recommended a place for me to get the hair extensions. She is obviously very passionate at what she does and it is important to her to make sure that the Bride is very satisfied.
My color scheme had purple in it, and I wanted to incorporate that color with some kind of hair accessory for my bridesmaids. I saw some peacock feathers and asked Evelyn what/​how would be the best way to to use them as a hair accessory. She is knowledgeable and crafty, and recommended what kind of craft glue to get, what kind of hair pin to use, etc. With her help and advice, made 4 different kinds of peacock hair accessories for the girls to use and they looked great in their hair.
On the day of my wedding, Evelyn and her assistant arrived early and finished on time. I was impressed with their time management. I really loved my hair and makeup — natural-​looking, flawless and exactly what I wanted. I recommend getting the airbrush application — it feels so weightless! When Evelyn added the hair extensions, I loved how voluminous it looked. I’ve never had extensions before, and she did an amazing job with my low, side bun. I got many compliments throughout the night on how pretty I looked and how beautiful my hair was. Both hair and makeup stayed-​put pretty well all day!
All my bridesmaids looked beautiful and were happy with their hair and makeup as well. On the day of my wedding, my bridesmaids were trying to finalize their hairstyles, and Evelyn and her assistant were very helpful. They helped them pick a hairstyle that worked for each girl’s taste/​style.
I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis and my husband prefers me without any makeup. I wanted to still look «like me,» but of course made-​up enough to feel like the beautiful bride I did. You want to look back at that day in your pictures and think/​feel how happy you were and not regret about your hair/​makeup.
