But the ice cream flavors were a hit or miss. On the day I went, I personally only liked 1 of the flavors that they had (Mexican chocolate). But I would love to come back and try other flavors. A plus is that you can split the flavors you want even on a single scoop. Also, the employees were really nice and friendly!

I would commend checking it out and seeing if any of the flavors interest you!

Walked over here after eating at Baco Mercat. I actually tried coming here before but had no luck finding parking so I drove away. This tiny ice cream shop is unique. They have a stationary bike inside the shop where the employees bike to churn ice cream. I hear that you can get a FREE scoop if you bike long enough to help them churn ice cream — but I didn’t since I was pretty tired and I’m lazy.
I got a single scoop of their Hibiscus Flower Ice Cream and I was surprised at how rich and creamy it was. One scoop is about $ 4.50 so it is not the cheapest ice cream. However, I am a fan of this place and will visit every time I’m in the area.

Peddle for 25 minutes for a free scoop.
Not a lot of choices, but you definitely get the quality. Mexican Chocolate is incredible. Employees are friendly as well.

Great ice cream! Came here for dessert after visiting KazuNori and it was delicious! The ice cream is freshly made & churned there, from bicycles! It takes about 20 mins to make one batch and if you would like to help them churn the ice cream, you get a free ice cream!
I got a single scoop with local lavender and mexican chocolate. Both were delicious and tasted good with each other. Highly recommend.
Definitely will be back in the future!

I went to this place after hearing my friend rave about their fresh, bicycle churned ice cream that she saw on the Food Network.
When i first walked in, i absolutely loved the vibe and décor. Everybody was really friendly and helpful. I tried out their flavors and decided to get a single scoop of half coffee and half raspberry poptart.
The ice cream was really heavy and creamy. U could literally taste the milkiness in the ice cream. I wasnt the biggest fan of the ice cream but it is a must try.
I liked the coffee flavor over the raspberry poptart, so i would recommend it.

Solid YUM. Not the most unique flavors around, but still worth a visit! A single scoop is $ 4.50 and a double is $ 6.50. My boyfriend and I shared a double scoop of the poptart flavor and a cornbread crumble flavor. I loved the poptart– only wish there were more poptart pieces! The cornbread one tasted too much like dense cornbread for my taste.
The shop is quite small – only 3 small tables so it isn’t ideal for big groups that are looking to hang out and kill time.
The concept, which is definitely not efficient, is still unique and cute!

Peddler’s creamery truly has an interior that represents its store. There is an interactive bike installation along the wall. You simply pedal on the standstill bicycle and the other wheels start spinning on its own. You can also bike to help them make the ice cream but I think that is only during certain times because when I went, there was not a tub of batter ready to be mixed. Remember to check in on Unilocal for a dollar off as the ice cream is a bit expensive but they do their best to give you as big a scoop as possible.
There was a mix of regular flavors and unique ones. We got the double scoops of strawberry pop tart and sweet cream. Their sweet cream was my favorite, melts instantly and didn’t leave any kind of residue. The pop tart was a bit more unique, but props for the uniqueness.
I had a great time biking and the workers were very helpful. Remember to take some pictures before you leave.

Peddler’s seems to be limited in flavors each day and quantity also, so get there early enough to maximize the flavors you have options to. This Peddler’s Club sounds interesting. Apparently, you can cycle to earn a cup of ice cream. I have yet to try this, but exercising is not a bad tradeoff.

I got to have their sorbet as they have traveling scoopers for locations/​events. This place was very good and I’d eat here again. I’m not sure I’d make the trek from Culver City to DTLA just for this, but if I was in the area and wanted ice cream/​froyo I’d definitely suggest this place and happily return. The customer service was really good and the flavors they had were also very good.

My husband and I came by Peddler’s Creamery for the first time last Tuesday evening a little after 8 pm. We had just came from a Unilocal event at the Pershing Square (special ice skating private party all just for fellow Unilocalers), where the owner of Peddler’s Creamery was there providing some samples of chai tea and some kind of chocolate drink (new to the menu by the way). He told us that for that night only, if we mention Unilocal,we would get 50% off our purchase (there is a special $ 1 off offer when you do check in on your Unilocal app).
So after building up a sweat ice skating, we walked over to Peddler’s Creamery (probably less than 1 mile walk round trip, but be aware that this is downtown LA so be alert to all of the homeless and other people walking the street). After browsing the menu board and featured ice cream in the display case, we ended up getting:
2 scoops ice cream ($ 6.50) + 1 waffle cone ($ 1) — Prices include tax. We ended up picking sweet potato and lemon cookie. The sweet potato was pretty good. I liked that it wasn’t too sweet but lightly sweetened. I would definitely order this flavor again. The lemon cookie was also sweet and did remind me of a lemon cookie. I thought it went well with the sweet potato ice cream. The texture and consistency of the ice cream was smooth and creamy.
Unfortunately our waffle cone was burnt. It was rather hard to bite into and it was pretty dark in color. Sadly in the glass case behind the counter, we saw that most of the waffle cones (they make in house) were burnt. The burnt taste didn’t go well with our ice cream.

While we were there eating our ice cream (seating is incredibly limited with only about 2 small tables inside and a few outside, but being here late on a cold night, we were the only ones), the owner came into the store and made some small talk with us. He was really friendly and told us a little bit about himself.
By the way, because this place is called Peddler’s Creamery, there are bikes all over the store. There was a chandelier made of bike chains above us (which looked pretty cool) and other interesting parts of the bike used as décor in the store. I think this place is a fun novelty and would probably come back here again if in the area.

Very hipster ice cream shop in DTLA. If you don’t know what a hipster is yet, just hang out here for an hour. They bicycle churn their ice cream. Everything’s organic, even the clothing merchandise they sell. You can even sign up to be a peddler yourself and earn free scoops along the way or donate your scoops to charity lol. Amazing :)
So with all that, it’s a pretty simple place. Usually just a handful of flavors, but oftentimes with their own twist. Like Mexican chocolate, lavender, pumpkin pie, etc. It’s pretty creamy and true to the flavor’s origin. Prices are on the higher end, but they do donate part of their proceeds to social justice and environmental groups, so I guess you can think of it as your charitable act for the day hah

Aside from that awkward sex scene that Vivica A. Fox did on a bike with Jamie Fox in the movie «Booty Call,» I don’t think I’ve ever seen as an unusual use of a bike as churning out ice cream with it.
But, that’s exactly what they do at Peddler’s Creamery (no, not have sex on a bike — at least not when I was there). I wasn’t really expecting to see a person cycling in real time when I walked in, but sure enough, a guy was. That may seem weird to some, but almost every newer scoop shop has a distinguishing characteristic, and this one is better than the liquid nitrogen gimmick shops that consistently churn out 2.5 to 3 star quality ice cream.
Peddler’s is another in a line of artisan shops with «Creamery» in its name that specializes in using local and organic ingredients. They take that further by donating 5% of their profits to social and environmental causes, so rest assured, the thighs of the people peddling aren’t the only things here that #FeelTheBern
The ice cream itself is of nice quality, but the variety is relatively limited on a given day and most of the flavors aren’t particularly innovative. Maybe if they converted an area of the shop into an indoor cycling class there’d be more flavors available.
I got these 2 scoops for $ 6.50:
–Cinnamon: the texture was smooth, but I’ve had this flavor (or a variation of it) at a lot of places recently and would say this one was average
–Honey Lavender: it had a good balance of being noticeably floral while not overwhelming
Until Salt & Straw (5 stars) opens in the Arts District in Winter 2016, we’re pretty much left with Peddler’s (on Main), Gelateria Uli (Spring Arcade Building), and Ice Cream Lab (Little Tokyo) as our main ice cream options in DTLA. I’d put them all around the 3.5 star range. Peddler’s is one of those LA things you have to check out for yourself. While you’re at it, you might as well add ‘have sex while peddling on a bike’ to your bucket list (and if it goes well, I’m sure it will also result in some cream being produced).

Bicycle churned ice cream??? What has this town come to ahaha. I guess it doesn’t make me feel so bad eating A LOT of it. I mean someone has to burn those calories off and let me tell you it ain’t gonna be me LOL.
The day I went in was DEAD I went for a lunch at Eggslut and thought «hmmmm…everyone has been telling me to get my booty in there, I’ll just go now.» So I through some spare change in the meter and walked my booty on over.
I walked in and it was literally crickets chirping which was gave me an intimate experience to just peep around and look at every corner, line, and curve in the bikes they have lying around.
The day I went they had less flavored than I thought they would. Seems like they have only a few flavors each day and they rotate them throughout the week. The flavors that stuck out the most to me were the Snickerdoodle Ice Cream and the Lavender Ice Cream. Trust me! If you want good ice cream, and you are there the day they have those, GET THEM; you won’t be disappointed. The scoops they offer are really tiny and the price they sale them at are surely inflated.
Don’t get me wrong though. I certainly enjoyed my scoops of ice cream.

Cool. Will pedal for ice cream? Pretty time consuming. It’s a cool gimmick. When I went it was empty and limited on flavors. The ice cream didn’t wow me. I threw it away after sharing half of a small. Check in for $ 1 off! Overall, I wouldn’t come back even if I was in the neighborhood lol

I came here after having brunch in Baco Mercat. What made this place special is that you can actually get free ice cream if you bike for 20 minutes. I didn’t get to do it because I was too lazy after the heavy brunch.
I tried their lavender ice cream sample and it was too creamy for me, I barely taste the lavender flavor. However, they have a lot of unique flavors and maybe I will come again when I feel like working out and having some dessert.

Bicycle-​churned ice cream. Like… they literally pedal on a stationary bicycle to make batches of ice cream with locally grown, organic ingredients. If this isn’t LA, I don’t know wtf is!!!

I love the concept of this ice cream shop in DTLA. There’s a bike that’s attached to a machine that churns ice cream in the back of the shop and I heard that you can get free ice cream if you bike for 20 minutes. While you’re biking, it activates the other bikes and wheels on the ceiling, it was pretty cool. So if you want a little workout and get rewarded with free ice cream, be sure to use the bike!
They have unique flavors of ice cream and toppings as well. Portion wise, it was smaller than what I’m used to but that was fine with me. The flavor of the ice cream made up for the size. My friend and I shared 2 scoops of the Orange Cinnamon and Vanilla. I also got to try their Mexican Hot Chocolate and Strawberry ice cream, both delicious. You can taste that they make their batches fresh.
Price wise, it was a little bit more than I wanted to pay. Two small scoops for $ 6.25 but this is artisanal ice cream after all.
Ask for samples of the ice cream, the people working here are really cool. Oh and I loved the music they were playing. Frank Ocean streaming through the speakers while eating delicious ice cream added to the atmosphere and made me smile :)

There’s nothing like yummy ice cream after brunch! Came here last weekend for the first time and it’s super cute! The ice cream here is made with the pedals connected to the bike at the front and you can ride the bike to make a batch of ice cream (like 20 mins I think) for a free scoop? Also, check in for $ 1 off your first visit.
I sampled the raspberry poptart and Mexican chocolate flavor which was really good and something else I forgot but ended up getting the sweet cream to share after a large brunch. I’d definitely come back again to try all the other flavors and ride the bike hehe.

This ice cream parlor is very cute with its bicycle churning machine. There are about 8 Flavors or so. I ordered the Mexican Chocolate, which was rich yet not too overwhelming sweet. There are mini bite size chunks nestled inside.
My only complaint is their eco-​friendly yet poor quality, soft cup. The ice cream is scooped hard and obviously melts over time. So you have this delicious ice cream melting all around with a ice hard center. Hahaha. I should have elected for that napkin, he offered. Tell me you didn’t experience the same.

When I entered the parlor, there was a stationary bike intricately hooked up to an ice cream churner, so people can make ice cream as they peddle. (Tip: you can get a free scoop of ice cream if you ride the bike for 20 mins!) As I was looking through their selection, I realized they didn’t have many unique and interesting flavors like other gourmet/​hipster ice cream shops have. There flavors weren’t very creative. We ended up ordering a scoop of Raspberry Poptart.
Raspberry Poptart: It had more of a milky than a raspberry flavor. However, there were some small crumbles of poptart inside the ice cream. It didn’t have a very creamy or icy consistency. The texture was between smooth and icy. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for something flavorful.
Overall, the ice cream is just alright. The concept is cool though. Another upside is that the employees are really friendly.
