Next Exit Photography

I loved Next Exit Photography. Adi is beyond words. Amazing person. And you almost wish he was your guest instead of your photographer. Harrison was also one of the nicest human beings you’ll ever meet.
My step mother summarized our entire family’s feelings in her email, which is better than any review I could have put together… so here it is:
Dear Adi and Cat,
The initial photographs of Tracy and Jon’s wedding, which you posted on Facebook, were extraordinary but we (Tracy’s father and I, her stepmother) assumed that they were culled as the best of the lot. Nothing — let me repeat, NOTHING — prepared us for the massive album of magazine-​worthy images, which took me an hour to savor last night and another hour to review (and savor once more) this morning.
As I told Tracy, it is quite simply the most beautiful collection of photographs I’ve ever seen. I felt as if I were watching the longest trailer ever made for a movie about an over-​the-​top romantic wedding, starring gorgeous A-​list actors with a large roster of the most attractive extras to grace a back lot. And at the end, I wanted to buy a ticket to see the movie again!
Some years ago, the late Slim Aarons came to our little community in Connecticut to do a photo spread for Town & Country. One woman, whom Aarons kept ignoring, finally asked him why he wasn’t putting her in any of the photos, to which he snidely replied, «Madam, I only take pictures of attractive people doing attractive things.»
Your genius is that, through your lens, everyone is attractive and everyone is doing, not merely attractive, but fascinating things. We expected some beautiful shots of Tracy, Jon and Jon’s kids. We expected some lovely, obligatory family photos, and we knew that the Carondelet House would provide a lushly romantic backdrop. But never did we think for a moment that candid photos of the guests would have the richness and allure of an Avedon or Demarchelier image for Vogue! All my husband could keep repeating is, «How do you pick from so many exceptional photographs?» (And he is a guy who used to make the final decision on all the Marlboro cowboy shoots… for what it’s worth.)
I read both of your bios, and Cat, I’m certain that you were writing for the prospective bride when you said that you pride yourself «on finding that exact moment when you look your best,» but you two managed to find the exact moment when 73 guests plus the bridal party looked their best. How on earth did you do that? The composition on so many gave me chills: the juxtaposition of Tracy’s delicate beauty and Jon’s cool LA style against the architectural details of old brick walls with black shutters and the funky sherbet-​colored stucco with crumbling Korea Town curbs or the Abbey Road-​esque pictures in the street of Jon, Tracy and the kids (love them all!). Or the many different shots where the chandeliers were in soft focus or a face was softly lit by candlelight or backlit in some beautiful way. And Adi, you give such good direction that even the «posed» pictures looked natural, relaxed and happy, with images emanating with sheer joy and sometimes just sheer fun.
You two are the Bottaceillis of portrait photography. Tracy is a beautiful woman, as is her sister Cortney and their mother Kay but how you managed to capture that beauty in, literally, hundreds of photos is astounding. I mean, even Kate Moss must have an off moment every now and then. There is this quality of delicate light around Tracy that reminds me of the great Renaissance Madonnas and the chiaroscuro effect that you employed in some images, particularly upstairs, is hauntingly romantic.
I would say that you are wonderful event photographers, except that you turned almost every one of the event shots into intimate portraits that captured the essence of that particular moment. People often say that no one looks at a wedding album more than once but your work is more a compendium of portrait essays than a picture album. I can imagine someone, who doesn’t even know the Keim or Ward families, looking at these pictures and being able to imagine themselves at the wedding.

Where to begin!!! I have now known Cat and Adi for a handful of years now and was beyond thrilled when I knew Adi would be shooting our engagement photos and Cat would be doing out wedding!
The engagement session was AMAZING! As a person who is very shy in front of the camera, Adi did an amazing job of bringing me out of my comfort zone and truly making it such an amazing experience! The finished product speaks for itself! He is talented beyond words!!!
Now for the big day! Cat was so amazing from start to finish! As usual, I was running late, and she was able to guide me through the day, without creating any stress and STILL capturing every precious moment! Her attention to detail, professionalism and pure talent really made it easy for me to even forget they were around! Lee and I were so excited to have Next Exit shoot the biggest day of our lives, and even from the teasers I can tell that they were able to not only capture the moment, but the feeling within every picture!!!

We interviewed or received quotes from over 10 – 15 photographers. This was probably one of the harder decisions we made during the whole wedding process. There was no question that once we spoke to Adi and Cat that we wanted to hire them, it was a matter of are they worth going slightly over our allotted photography budget.
YES times a million.
Did I mention we were planning this LA wedding from Chicago? Throughout the process I turned to Cat for guidance. From recommendations on certain vendors to the perfect day of timeline. She was always quick to reply and gave GREAT suggestions. She was a dream to work with. I only wish she came to shoot the wedding day too!
Adi, her husband was assigned to our wedding with his assistant Lee as the second photographer. We met Adi a few months before our wedding for our engagement shoot. This was such a fun day for us. We had never taken any professional pictures together so we were a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera at first. Adi did a great job easing us into things and captured some very memorable shots for us. He was super open and told us funny stories about his experience as a photographer and we enjoyed spending the afternoon with him!
We got married at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu. The day of our wedding went off without a hitch. Well if there were any mess-​ups, I didn’t know about them, which is exactly how it should be. I know that my family can be a little demanding, but Adi was great. He’s stern in the sense that he get’s things going and moving and people in place, but no one was ever offended or thought he wasn’t nice. In fact my father-​in-​law came up to us during the wedding and was thoroughly impressed with how he handled all the HUGE family shots.
What I liked even more was that Adi worked really well with all my other vendors, especially the videographer! They traveled around the venue and series of events together and made everything seamless.
The finished product could not be better. He took one of my favorite pictures EVER that I posted to Unilocal. He’s really talented!
Looking back, their packages ARE reasonable considering they’re among the top wedding photographers in Los Angeles! I am SO thankful we decided to go with Next Exit and I highly recommend you do the same!

This was our FAVORITE wedding vendor hands down! Cat & Adi are the BEST. We absolutely LOVED working with them. They captured every important moment of our entire wedding weekend flawlessly. When we got the pictures we were just thrilled. But what made them exceptional is how much their presence added to the weekend. They were SO much fun to work with. I would highly recommend them.

First Cat and Adi were our wedding photographers, and they managed to capture not just my favorite moments of the day in a beautiful, warm, candid feel, but they also made me (and my family) feel like we were right there for all the moments we missed. We knew the photos would last longer than any other part of our day, and we are so glad we made the right choice of photographers. Nine years later, their style is still spot on.

We can’t recommend Next Exit enough! Being a photographer I knew exactly what types of photos I wanted for my wedding and Next Exit was it. Adi and Cat won us over from the very first meeting and held our hand throughout the entire planning processes. During our search for a photographer, I came across far too many photos of flowers, table settings and shoes. It’s a wedding, the photos should be about the people! From the moment Adi and Harrison arrived they had everything organized, planned and ready to go. They kept everyone inline and laughing for all the important family photos. The photos we received were absolutely breathtaking. It was everything I had hoped for and can’t stress enough about the quality of our photos. There are thousands of wedding photographers out there, but if you want photos worthy to brag about, look no further.

We hired Next Exit as our photographers for our engagement photos and our wedding day. They were great to work with and they captured the joy and love perfectly on our special day. We met with at least five other photographers and immediately new that Next Exit was the one after meeting with Adi and seeing all of their work. Their professionalism and talent definitely come through in their portfolio. The way they were able to capture once in a lifetime moments that are genuine and authentic is absolutely priceless. Adi was great to work with and it made a huge difference that we did our engagement session with him so when it came to the big day we were so comfortable around him. Our photos looked like they were straight out of a magazine. At least that’s what I kept hearing from people.
Cat and Adi did an incredible job from the first phone call about potentially working together, to the visit to their studio to review work samples, our engagement session and of course the wedding.
My husband has the tendency to loose patience while being photographed. Adi picked up on this and kept the family photo session as short as possible, but then came and got my husband and I during a lull in activities to go take more couple shots. Breaking the photo session up into smaller chunks saved my husband’s sanity and ensured we still had all the photos we could hope for. I did not want to do a «first look,» which I know makes wedding photographers crazy, but Adi worked with us and made sure we got everything we wanted.
My home is now covered in all of the photos Next Exit took at our wedding. Treasured memories that we will have for a lifetime!
In addition to wedding day coverage, we purchased an engagement session. Do not skip out on this important session. Not only do you get more great photos, but you get used to being photographed together.

My son never smiles for a camera. We hired Next Exit based on the suggestion of a friend who received beautiful photos. I was reluctant bc my son was so shy but our photographer was very patient and relaxed. He pulled my kid out of his shell and the resulting photos are A+. After the photos were ready to look at, we went to their studio, where we saw them projected on a big screen, which made it really easy to pick the ones we liked. Very good experience and I will be repeating.

Next Exit is the real deal! If you are looking for experts who get it right every time, call Cat and Adi. We have had family photos taken by them a few times now, and each time I marvel at the incredible results. On the day of our last shoot, our 5 year old did not want her picture taken and was a big grump. Adi knew just how to handle the situation and despite her attitude, totally captured my most favorite expressions of hers. The shots of our family are priceless and are truly a treasure. And the light… oh the light! Magical, really.

My husband and I were referred to Next Exit through a friend who also used them for their wedding. I researched many other wedding photographers since this was one of our top priorities for our wedding. We knew we wanted Next Exit Photography as our wedding photographers the minute we saw their portfolio. Their pictures are beautiful, and they are best at capturing all the best moments, emotions, and lighting.
Cat is really easy to deal with over email or the phone – she’s always very responsive. When we decided a month before the wedding that we wanted to do engagement pictures, they made it happen. The engagement session with Adi was a good «ice breaker» since we’ve never really had professional pictures taken. It can be pretty awkward at first, so be prepared with some good jokes to make each other laugh!
The morning of the wedding, Adi and Harrison showed up on time and ready to work. Normally, that would be expected, but knowing that Adi had just come back from a two week vacation overseas, I thought he might be tired or groggy. In fact, I have no idea how he had so much energy the entire day! Throughout the entire day, Adi also took the time to make sure that I was ok, asking me if I needed anything, and making sure I wasn’t too overwhelmed with everything that was going on. And since the weather was quite hot that day, he also made sure to keep me in the shade as much as possible, made sure I wasn’t overheated, and offered me water. That was unexpected, and totally sweet of him. Any pictures we wanted that day, Adi and Harrison made it happen.
We already got a few «preview» pictures from our wedding back and they turned out AMAZING!!! I cannot wait to see the rest of them!!! THANK YOU ADI, HARRISON, AND THE NEXT EXIT TEAM!!!

It was less then 2 months before our big day, and we had just started looking for a photographer. We were lucky that Next Exit was actually available on our wedding date, as they are usually booked way in advance. We met with Adi first for the engagement shoot at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, where we also held the wedding. We knew, almost immediately, we were in good hands. We could tell Adi really knew how to take advantage of the wonderful space & lighting that were available at the WDCH to make our photos look great.
On our wedding day, Adi and his assistant were there to capture all the moments from my beautiful wife getting ready, to the heart-​felt ceremony and all the fun times at the reception. In between, my wife and I took opportunities to go outside with Adi and he took some of the most beautiful photos of us with the WDCH as the backdrop. All the photos turned out great, even the ones in low light. Thanks to Adi and Next Exit, they really helped make our wedding that much more memorable. We plan to hire Next Exit to help us capture all the important memories in the future.

Adi and Cat are amazing! They were so easy to work with, straight to the point. This made our decision to hire them as our wedding photographers so easy! They know what they are doing, their photography speaks for itself. Our money was well spent and we cannot wait to get our album!
And on a side note, Nicole who is their all around/​go-​to-​person, was a pleasure to work with whenever I had any quick questions.

I have been a fan of Next Exit photography for years and I can’t speak highly enough about them. My experience started with them when they shot my sister’s wedding. The shots were gorgeous and they got my beautiful sister and her adorable husband featured in the Knot Magazine and on the
(for 5 years — every spring the pics are reposted!). Having either Cat or Adi at your wedding is like having a good friend there. They get along with everyone, but at the same time melt into the background so you never feel like you’re being followed around by a photographer. They’re just there at the right place and the right time.
Next Exit has since shot my dad’s wedding and several of my friends’ engagement sessions and weddings. Hopefully, one day they will shoot mine as well! Although with the friendship and bond I have made with them now, they’ll probably just want to be guests :)

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and that is priceless. I just received my wedding album yesterday and I can say that it was like re-​living my dream day all over again, it flooded me with all the the excitement and joy of being with my family and friends. I was so honored to get the WHOLE Next Exit Team, both Adi and Cat! They captured all the details even things I didn’t think important, so glad they insisted. We also had a chance to get to know Adi for our engagment pictures, we not only captured our personality but the wonders of downtown Los Angeles, my home. They are prompt and responsive, I don’t think they sleep. Until my event, I was emailing all times of the night and either Nicole or Cat would promptly respond with all my concerns and questions. They also have a great studio to review your proofs. They are the whole package, honest and hard working :-D

The Next Exit team is absolutely amazing!!! Right from the start, I knew they were good when Cat quickly responded to my initial inquiry (I had been having some trouble with response time from another photographer). We’ve only had our engagement photos done, but Adi made us feel so comfortable. He made picture taking REAL FUN! Then just a couple days later our photo gallery was up and ready for us to choose from (Thanks Nicole!!). I was so impressed with the quality of photos. I swear, I don’t look that good in real life :-) But, the photos were natural and Adi caught great moments between us. I can’t wait for the wedding photos… I have no doubt they’ll be perfect!!! What gorgeous shots we just viewed! Incredibly natural and artistic. Not easy to do with three boys ages 10, 11 and 12. They were all so great it was nearly impossible to choose. Cat and Adi are wonderful to work with and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for not only fantastic family photos but a very fun experience. From what I could see in their studio, their wedding shots are incredible too.

I can’t say enough good thing about Next Exit. Because our wedding photos (from another photographer) were a disaster, we wanted to redo them to have Something to frame or put in an album… The reshoot was such an amazing experience: at one point, Cat actually serenaded us (you had to be there). The previews she showed us were sooooo good and she has the best ideas for photos and locations. It was an unfortunate situation that brought us to them, but we know the photos will be worth it and it was such a happy, positive experience with what I *know* will be incredible images.
