My new year started out terrible. In my efforts to organize, I accidentally deleted some important files from my external hard drive. I have a ton of friends who work in IT, so I figured someone would be able to help. After reaching out to said friends, no one could help. I was on the verge of following a YouTube video with DIY instructions which included a free download link. IT CAN’T BE THAT EASY. I’m suspicious of things like that because of viruses among other things. The last thing I wanted to do was ruin my computer too. I called a bunch of places I found on Unilocal,and decided to take my business to Mac West. This is why: Keya is kind and honest and does not high pressure sale you; service is quick and the price is reasonable; it’s conveniently located off Wilshire and there is a parking lot in the back; he is knowledgeable and will explain the diagnosis and better practices on how to avoid future issues.
Coincidentally, my laptop died too, so I took it to him for repairs today. I’ll pick it up in a few days with a faster hard drive that has a longer warranty than the Apple store.
Saved me a ton of time, money, and tears!

My old WD hard drive stopped working, as they do. Kaya was very helpful. He explained all the details of how hard drives work and what he would do to safely recover my data. All the steps were clear and my data was able to be recovered! I was going to pay $ 600 at another company, but Kaya is very inexpensive and does a great job!

I thought all was lost… I have 74,000+ photos on my computer and I run my own business. My computer was acting sluggish and I thought it was due to the recent fabulous iOS update… But alas, my hard drive had failed. I tried to boot up my MAC but it only opened in recovery mode.
A friend of mine who used to work on my computer has since switched jobs and I had to find someone else. Based off of a friends recommendation I reluctantly tried MacWest Data Recovery (I was scared to go to anyone other than my friend because I knew I could trust him).
Now I will never go anywhere else!!!

Thank you Kaya, I have had many jobs done with Kaya and he is a real pleasure to work with. He is clear, honest and good at what he does. The first job I had done was having my hard drive restored which he did, and saved me a lot of lost files! Next I needed a bug taken from my computer which I had no success with figuring our personally. Kaya knew where to look and how to get it out of my system. And the last job I had done was with my laptop– the screen had frozen and I could not get it to work. Alas, Kaya to the rescue. This place was a nice surprise. I decided to go in when I saw all the positive reviews on Unilocal.My MacBook was having some issues and I went in and met with Kaya. The place was small and looked like a computer junkies heaven. Kaya was super friendly and helpful as well as very knowledgeable. He fixed my computer with ease. I’m on my 15th? 20th? Mac. This time MacBook Pro 2014 model. So I’ve been thru many a repair scenario. Many were nightmares.
Add to that, I’m so stubborn about not backing up my invaluable data. Foolish me!
So… when my MacBook crashed this week, I took it to the Apple Store (I have Apple Care) where I was told I might lose all my data. Oy vey! Film, edits, screenplays, a novel, 10,000 or so high-​rez photos.
Panic.
Until I found Kaya at Macwest. He backed up my hard drive before I submitted to the factory for repairs. Yay!
AND he is such an intelligent, charming young man.

Kaya is awesome. He was able to very quickly diagnose and recover valuable files from my external drive. I’m a professional photographer and had over 100,000 photos saved on two backup drives that both crashed and he managed to recover all of the photos in less time than he originally told me! I’m very pleased with his service and his rates are truly unbeatable (the same service from best buy had a minimum charge of almost twice what he charged me). Thanks Kaya!

The other five-​star reviews on this site are no exaggeration! Kaya at MacWest Data Recovery is the the go-​to guy when it comes to computer repair.
After spilling liquid on my laptop, apple quoted me over $ 700 in repair and even suggested to just buy a new one for $ 1,700 because they might have to change the whole bottom section. Ouch.
As a missionary for our church and no income, those prices were way out of my budget. A different repair shop fixed my fan but recommended me to MacWest to change the battery. I called up Kaya and communication was crystal clear from the moment he picked up his phone to the day I pick up my good-​as-​new laptop. Originally the price for the repair was $ 270 but he dropped that price to $ 240. Beat that, Apple!
He ordered the battery for me and then texted me when the part came in so I could drop off my laptop. A few minutes after dropping off my computer, he asked if I was still in the area because I drove about 40 minutes to get there. He had it ready in less than an hour so I didn’t have to make a second trip.
Kaya was very patient and understanding throughout the entire process, even though I ran into trouble with my ATM withdrawal. Eventually, I came home the same day with my laptop running smoothly and a shop for future repairs.

Kaya saved my life! That may seem dramatic but it sure feels that way. I was having a major computer catastrophe and it only got worse when I learned that all the data recovery places were closed over the Labor Day weekend. I called MacWest and heard an «emergency» number, which I called and Kaya picked up. Not only did he fix and retrieve everything perfectly, he did it over the holiday weekend — AND did it for less than the regular price of the other places. AND it was a rushed job to boot.
I cannot say enough positive about his prompt, courteous, professional, life-​saving service. Kaya didn’t just retrieve raw data, he made sure that my computer files were organized and appeared exactly as they did before the problem occurred.
It’s impossible for me to adequately express my gratitude for Kaya’s unparalleled service.
