My hard drive died a slow death after a severe lightening bolt grounded near my house. All my important data, business and private, were no longer accessible. After shopping around with data recovery services closer to home, I decided to send my hard drive to Platinum Data Recovery. I am glad I did!
Not only are their customer service representatives very caring and understanding, but their technicians are top notch. Out of the thousands of files on my hard drive, only two were beyond the point of restoration — fortunately they were of no significant value.

I got referred here after $ 300 data recovery couldn’t recover the data on a 1TB Western Digital Drive. My drive was damaged pretty badly but luckily Platinum Data Recovery was able to recover many of the critical files I need for my business. They needed to order donor parts and reconstruct parts of the drive in order to read the data off of it, but it worked and I am so grateful!

Platinum Data Recovery was there for me when my old hard drive bit the dust right before Christmas. They were fast with their responses and very professional. If you live close in LA, you can drop off your hard drive and they will diagnose it for free in two days.
It gave me a great deal of peace of mind to know a professional was working on my drive and would get back as much data as possible. I have IT experience and can generally do my own tech support, but once I realized my old PATA hard drive wasn’t spinning properly, I knew I had to call in professional backup. My only complaint is due to bad sectors they were only able to recover most of my files, not all. This isn’t there fault. And I happy I got back what I did. And their services aren’t cheap. They usually start at $ 395. Considering you are getting hours of specialized IT help, this isn’t unreasonable.

These guys are fantastic!!! Thorough, patient, friendly and extremely helpufl. They recovered all my data after other places said it couldn’t be done. A little $$$ but when you have priceless things on a drive, it’s definitely worth it!!! Adam is very polite and responsive which is extrmeely comforting when you’re dealing with the potential loss of all your important information.

My hard drive failed and it had all of my most precious photos in it. I sent it to the guys at PDR and they sent me proof that all of my files were still on it, and the representative Adam was really good about keeping me in touch and taking care of my needs. Due to a short power outage, my hard drive was completely fried. Because I had not backed it up in two years, I lost everything, at least I thought so. Thankfully I was referred to Platinum Data Recovery. I was able to drop off my defective drive along with a new hard drive to transfer the files to. It took them a couple of weeks and it is expensive, but they were able to restore over 90% of my files. I would recommend Platinum Data Recovery to anyone and am happy with the results and my dealings with the staff.

These guys took a 1TB Lacie Rugged external drive with a mechanical disc malfunction and a corrupted file system and managed to retrieve 99.9% of the data for me. Total was 850.00 for the job. The data was transferred to a new drive of my choosing, which I dropped off at my leisure. The turnaround was estimated at one week; it turned out to take two. But they were communicative with me during the whole process and were able to explain why it took extra time. They also got me a better price on the service by having me pay in cash. Overall, I would definitely use Platinum Data Recovery again.

I’ve tried many different places in neighborhood around Silicon Valley and they are all asking for an arm and a leg. After research on Unilocal I found $ 300 Data Recovery who later on highly recommended Platinum Data Recovery after they cannot solve the problem.

This was my first time using a service like this, and like most people was pretty shocked at the cost (in my case, $ 1k+ to recover 5 years worth of pictures off my dead hard drive). But the cost makes sense once you figure in what a specialized and labor-​intensive process it is to do this sort of thing.
I worked with Adam, and he was very clear about what the process would be, what the timeline and fees were, and the likelihood they’d be able to get everything back (they wound up recovering everything except the newest 800mb or so of pictures from 500gb total). He provided regular updates, and everything happened on the timeline he said it would. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a data recovery service.

What a fantastic service. We accidentally formatted our Network Drive at home, and thought all was lost as I couldn’t find anything online on how to recover the data. We looked up on line/​Yelp to see if there were services out there that would do this, and we found Platinum Data Recovery. We worked with Adam, and he was brilliant. Very proactive, and helpful. Much like others, I write this with much relief as it had so much important data on the drive. Backing up your back up is a new revelation to me now… 3T of data recovered.

Platinum data recovery was able to recover the majority of my files on a Seagate 1 TB drive. There customer service is pleasant to work with, and I am satisfied with the results.
I’ve instituted a more rigorous backup regiment, with mirror external drives in addition to a NAS for another backup layer.

I write this with a sigh of relief… I brought a hard drive which just stopped working out of the blue (believe me I’ve learned my lesson in extra extra EXTRA redundancy) to two different locations before finally being recommended to Platinum Data Recovery. While most places are not as intricate with the retrieval process (basic recovery or software type recovery) Platinum Data Recovery is the real deal when things are ALMOST irreparable.
Anyway, I am glad they were able to retrieve 95% of my files. Adam was great to deal with and responded to any pestering questions. I would recommend PDR in a heartbeat if things with your data have gone south.

My girlfriend’s ultra book pc crashed and she needed the documents that were on the hard drive. After opening up the laptop and getting the drive out, I tried finding her files. The drive was accessible but the documents were nowhere to be found. The files on this drive were crucial to her business and she also had irreplaceable photos on it as well. We called the guys at Platinum, who walked us through the various options. We went to their location and they asked to take a look at the drive. My flash memory was broken 3 weeks ago,

I was at my wit’s end and took it there.

I’ve had it with Western Digital hard drives. The disc I took to Platinum Data Recovery (PDR) was my second WD HD that went south. This time I decided to pay to recover the data. Did a google search and found Platinum Data Recovery. The reviews were mostly positive so I thought I’d give them a try. After all, they offer the initial diagnostic for free. The long and short of it, it was money well spent. The contents of the drive contained videos and pictures that are priceless.

These guys approached the problem not only with professionalism but also real expertise, while the other shops weren’t able to access my drive or were simply unprofessional. I’ve been given Platinum Data Recovery as a referral by one of their peer competitors, Best Buy’s «Geek Squad» which says a lot about this company to get such a testimonial. I’ve also heard nothing but nice things about Platinum from their other peers too, along with a tremendous number of reviews on Unilocal too.
With that, I did visit Platinum after I had the unfortunate situation where my hard drive apparently crashed, and after having a few qualified tech associates try the DYI «slave drive» attempt to recover the data to no avail, I figured… «this is a job for… Superman!» and decided to go to Platinum.
The staff at Platinum is very friendly. The location is very subtle and discreet in the Westwood area near the Westside Pavilion Mall towards Pico. It’s on the 2^nd floor in a no frills small office with a reception area.
I dropped off my drive and they were able to diagnose my problems and provide me with a quote from their estimate of $ 300 – 1,500 (a wide range due to the complexity of the nature of recovering data). Within a few days, they got back to me with the bad news that I had physical mechanical failure with my read/​write drives being damaged along with bad sectors and a few scratches on the internal platters which required the need of a clean room environment and donor parts for an 80−90% chance (good if not great odds!) to recover the data, with a price quote of $ 1,245.
What I loved about Platinum is that they were and are professional. I declined to go through the data recovery process, since for my purposes, my data wasn’t worth that much $ to me. I understand for others, their data can be priceless, and the fee is more than reasonable to pay to get back what they’ve lost. So, having great business integrity, they didn’t try to downsell me any discounts, try to re-​negotiate a lower rate or convince me to move forward in any high pressured sales type tactics. I truly appreciate their honesty and practices to that regard. They didn’t charge for the diagnosis, and I picked my drive up, and they were very respectful, even putting my original damaged drive in a static free bag they supplied for proper care and handling. That was icing on the cake to their customer /​client services from my perspective.
I’d recommend Platinum to anyone having data recovery issues who can’t find a resolution, as they’re reportedly amongst the best, especially where there’s mechanical /​physical damages.
The process and their communication was very fast and friendly. I’d speculate they can do any job within a week if not mere days.
Parking is somewhat easy in the area, and it’s also a nice area to hang around, shop and eat around too!

My computer crashed!!! Aaarrgghh… Lost all my data and the guy from Geek Squad said he couldn’t fix it.
Found this place on Unilocal and based on all the fabulous reviews, I called them up and hustled right over there.
David, the chief engineer, helped me out and told me not to worry, that he was 99% sure they could recover the data. I paid the $ 99 for rush service (otherwise the diagnosis is free) and in a few hours he called to say he could recover the data and that the cost would be around $ 495. Yikes. But what can you do. I had a year’s worth of work on the computer.
So the computer was trashed but David recovered the data and I picked it up the next day. They put the recovered data on a small external hard drive. These geek guys are the best. Apparently most of their work is mailed in, and David said they get at least 20 hard drives a day to work on.
Their office is no great shakes, there is a steep stairway to go up so not for disabled people, and the parking sucks. But whatever… they saved my data!!!
