I like it here quite a bit. The pupusas are fantastic. The cabbage that they serve with it tastes like it has gone slightly bad. It’s a fair stop if you’re hungry.

Cash only! We already ordered and drank my horchata drink, and barely realized that it was cash only, and Lara Mae only pays with plastics. Luckily, the liquor store near Los Molcajetes has an ATM. Came here for pupusa revuelta(mixed pupupusas) with cheese, beans and chicharron($ 2.35 per) Not a really a fan of salsa roja in general, but their curtido(cabbage slaw) is the best! Their pupusas come in huge portion, and eating two, I was really full! Their horchata was okay, it was somewhat bland. Overall, great pupusas and it looked like they have other chains within 10 miles in the area. Downside: Parking sucks, and they only accept cash.

These pupusas are great. You can always count on the pupusas having the same consistency and great quality. They are large! So if you want to be satisfied — one is enough. But, if you were hungry — two will do the job! Their curtido is also good. Typically, places have lame curtido. But theirs is pretty legit. I’ve taken friends here and found out that they have come back and brought other friends. I came to find out from other friends at school that this is known to be the spot for pupusas in the area.(I think I should get some free pupusas for spreading the word at Southwestern about this pupuseria). I’m a regular here and to avoid the crowd I either go before the lunch rush or after the lunch rush. Service is what you expect from a Salvadoran restaurant(this means that the servers will get you your food and generally leave you alone — not much follow up so you gotta flag down the server for a drink refill). I like this because I usually take a book to read while I eat. Also, just a heads up on the parking — it can get a little wild in there. So, either park on 7th or Hoover and walk in. Save you the trouble of trying to find who parked behind you.

This place is just down the street. The pupusas are tasty but the portion sizes are too much. When ordering chicharron con queso pupusas and you get 95% cheese only ain’t the business. They take forever to cook them.

REVIEW # 750!!! This place is legendary to some. Many Salvadoran friends claim that the best pupusas in town are sold here. I just had to see if all the hype was true! Bottom line: they serve just ok pupusas. Just ok curtido. Just ok agua de arrayan. Just ok horchata. They gave me a free horchata because I wanted to buy one but the minimum is $ 10 and i had no cash and I had already purchased $ 11 of food. Nice! The décor is not very nice. They are located in an ugly neighborhood. There is parking in the rear. What can I do without here? The décor. What makes Los Molcajetes stand out? Their touted legendary status. Four stars! This place is really ridiculously good!

I have to say that Los Molcajetes lives up its reputation as some of the best pupusas in town. Not only is the filling good, but the masa is moist and cheesy. I frequent the location on Hoover and 7th street but there are a few others around the city. Dont forget to try the Pan con Pollo, its booomb

The pupusas are great! Bring along your Latino coworker or practice your Spanish if you need to do something other than point at a menu. I’d also recommend going up to the front and ordering. It goes a bit faster.

Growing up I would come with my family to enjoy the delicious food but the recent times I’ve been here have been disappointing. I’m not sure if it’s because they are super busy or maybe there is new staff but the food hasn’t been as great as before. It’s gotten more expensive with less portion and the taste is not as good.

It was good so far. I had the mogarra Frita with rice and salad, and caldo de pollo, both dishes with tortillas handmade. Also with two fresh homemade waters tamarindo, and ensalada. I can’t wait to came back!

It had promise. I like that it’s almost like someone’s house and that the menu is no frills. I would say that the best way to experience this place is to come in, eat only the pupusas and curtido and a drink, and treat it as a «cheap eats» place. I got a lot of the other dishes(about 5 others) to sample, and it ended up being pretty expensive per person for very carby, starchy, «non-satisfying» food. I would say overall the food was a 3 — average. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t bomb either.

No complaints here… at least with the food. The BF and I slid on over here one night after I happened to ask what a pupuseria was. The pupusas were good… something different to the almost nightly occurrence of tacos that I consume. Had to knock off a star for the cash only policy(grrrr) and one for the horrendous parking situation. The lot is tiny and cars are crammed in there, double parked. Gives me anxiety just thinking about it. It was a team effort as my BF ran inside, while I sat illegally parked in a red zone with the engine running. Good food, but not sure it’s worth the headache. Or a potential parking ticket.

Not sure if their food was good didn’t get to taste much. We had a horrible waiter that was rude and didn’t smile once. We waited 20 min for the waitress to helped us, waited 10 for our drinks, waited 30 min(with no food) and decided to leave. Once the waitress saw us she went running to the kitchen and brought out good, I’m guessing that was us. But we were fed up so we didn’t care and told them bye. We complain but they were forcing us to pay. We left without paying of course. One more thing guess what was our order… Beans with cream… Never again will I think of going to this horrible place with horrible people!!!

As much as I want this give this place a better rating, I can’t. Despite their delicious food their service is HORRIBLE. If you’re coming here for dinner come with ample time, typically 30 min to get a table then another 30 for your food. Not only do you have to wait forever, the employees seem bitter and have a really bad attitude. Especially the lady at the cash register answering phones. I would come here more often if they had better service.

WOW! Best pupusas I have had in Los Angeles. They are huge and soooo full of flavor. Absolutely delicious! I tried one de queso con loroco and one revuelta and just with one I was stuffed(mind you Im a big girl and I can EAT lol). Of course no salvy food is complete without a fresco de ensalada. Yum! Definitely coming back. Cons: Cash Only. Parking kinda sucks but its worth it!

If you’re craving pupusas and have a five spot in hand, today is your lucky day. They only take cash, but for about two bucks and change, you can get your hands on a large, steaming pupusa with the fixings. I wouldn’t quite say that they were the best pupusas I ever tried in LA, they are quite good. The parking lot is horrendous, but there is usually plenty of street parking. The two connected dining rooms are clean and utilitarian, but if it’s too crowded(always the case on weekends) or would prefer to eat these bad boys from the comfort of your own home, take these to go. If you are ordering to go, it’s ok to head to the front to the register to place your order.

I used to come here after a night of heavy drinking, but now I come here for dinner because I love to eat breakfast at night. Order the #1: Plantanos con huevos revueltos y frijoles y queso y crema… don’t judge my spanish skills, just get it. Their pupusas are good too, but can take a while to make. P. S. They only accept Cash now.

Best pupusas! Imagine Salvadorean stuffed pancakes and you’ll get the idea. For under $ 3 dollar I ordered a pupusa revueltas and it tasted great. My friends who never had pupusas before also loved it. I highly recommend the pupusas here. I’ve tried the carne asada tacos here before as well and it tasted fine. Same goes for the horchata. Good luck finding parking in this plaza… the cars here are packed like sardines(or a really bad tetris player). I’ve seen people park their cars behind other people’s cars… Also, just ignore the blaring mexican banda music. Furthermore, remember to bring cash. Overall, go here for the delicious pupusas!
