No translator because my dad only spoke Chinese
No food options for patients
I was very very disappointed with this place. My father felt like he was being rushed out of his stay here. They were not friendly to us and we didn’t feel important.

After all of the issues I posted about in another review, the medical images my doctor needed from my ER visit were never recieved. I have visited many ER’s, and have always been able to get a DVD of my xrays and scans within 30 minutes of requesting them at the proper office. At LAC-​USC, I had to go back a second day because they closed before serving all of their patients, then was told I had to either come back in five days or have it mailed. I opted for mailing rather that spend a third day in a small, smelly, airless, windowless box, but my doctor did not recieve them. Knowing their system, he opted to order new images, so now i get to waste another day…

I am struggling to comprehend all of the negative comments for this place. I love LAC+USC. I first began to make frequent visits once my (uninsured) mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. You will see many, many doctors and nurses who are frankly overworked and are trying to do their best with staff shortages, budget cuts and a whole lot of other bullshit. You will wait many, many hours even when you have a medical appointment. You will get frustrated and upset. None of this changes my view that you will eventually be seen by a doctor who gives a shit and will provide you with top-​notch service. Ask questions, keep records of who you see and what they say, be patient, and above all else, remember that these folks have dedicated themselves to working with the most vulnerable group of people in Los Angeles County — the homeless, addicts, uninsured, psyche patients and the undocumented.
I will forever be indebted to the LAC+USC staff that I have met, and will never forget that when my mother was uninsured and had no other place to go, she was treated with dignity. If you still feel the need to complain about the long wait and any other issue that are frankly beyond the control of the staff who works here, do yourself a favor and check out the documentary Code Black.

Terrible service, 4 hours waiting time, does not matter if you have an appointment. New data system, lab test orders expired before blood draw was due, poor communications between departments. I brought the issues three times to supervisors level, no one fixed it even after 7 months past. This is the third time i experience the issues.

AVOID like the black plague. Doctors are really medical students with virtually no senior supervision. These doctors are not doctors, they are medics, no kids. and with powerful drugs and bad supervision they become killers. AVOID AVOID AVOID at any cost.

Orthopedic is the most unorganized out fit I’ve ever experienced. They need to fire everyone there and start over. If you every have to go the expect to wait 8 hours. No matter if they are busy or not.
What a joke! The medical board should investigate and discovery the inefficient staff.

Review for Kittie Frantz in the pediatric dept
I appreciate this woman’s years of experience and expertise at identifying and correcting tongue ties, but her bedside manners can use serious improvement.
1) Don’t undress and pull clothes off your clients, especially when office staff keep opening and closing the door to the hallway removing any remote sense of privacy.
2) If your examination needs to be supervised by another office staff, have the courtesy to introduce them or at least explain why some random person just entered the room and is standing in the corner staring silently at your now exposed client
3) You already know the infant will scream during the procedure. If you ask the mother to say soothing words to the baby but she says she can’t, believe her. Telling a new mother she needs to «be there» for her child is nothing short of cruel when she is literally physically incapable of producing anything remotely soothing while her child screams on the table. She’s doing the best she can and you need to keep your condescending opinions to yourself.
Needless to say, I’m so glad we never have to return.

oh my god! this is the worst hospital ever!!! brought my girlfriend here for am upper respiratory infection at 12:30pm. it’s now 11:30pm and still haven’t seen the doctor. that’s 11 hours and counting! still in the waiting room and they can’t say when! this is crazy!!! bums and homeless all over the emergency room too! what a nightmare! i wish i could give negative stars! don’t ever come here for your own sake!

Update!!! Thanks to the amazing people at USC, my boyfriend’s leg was saved and he is now walking normally!!! It was an extremely severe injury, and I’m SO grateful for the staff at this hospital! They definitely fought hard to give him the best outcome possible. Every single person here is a hero!

My dad got in the ER due to accident and it took 2 hours just to get CT scan. Waiting 3 more hours to get distracted.
He was bleeding from his arm and they didn’t bother to not even put a bandage on.
I stepped out to make a phone call and they didn’t let me back in to see my dad just because he will «soon to be dispatched» (end up waiting for over an hour).
I argued with the front desk and the response I received was «they’ll call you if they needed to see you»
What is wrong with them??? Is it bad that I wanted to see my dad in the ER worrying about him???

I got here at 2pm. I had read the Unilocal reviews so I was prepared for a long time. I had blurry vision and didn’t feel well. Honestly the time went by fast. There’s free wifi and I was watching movies the whole time. The nurses are friendly and they seem to care about you. I know how many people come in here so I didn’t complain. when I was seen the nurse RN was very friendly. And listened to all my concerns. Although there are a lot of ppl the attention by the doctors is excellent. They didn’t treat me like a drug addict or a homeless person. I am very grateful.

Review is for pediatric department only.
We were transferred here from another hospital. The transition was quick in getting her room. The rooms are decorated with stickers for the kids. The room we had there had a locking crib so they can’t climb or fall out.
All Nurses and Dr’s were nothing but nice and kind to my Daughter. We did have a lot of different medical professionals in and out of our room, which was fine.
I was extremely impressed with what they provide. They gave us diapers, wipes, hygiene items for me, they even gave my child a brand new bottle! Which really made my Daughter’s day after a super rough stay at the previous hospital. I would definitely recommend this hospital if your in the area and have a sick child.

From the EMT’s perspective, I’ve brought patients here to the ER and the Psych Unit ER. This is mainly for the psych unit… here goes:
To the RN’s, get off your asses and check your patients, they are indeed «crazy» but still deserve your attention. To the CNA’s and Mental Health Workers, read above note to RN’s, help them out!
Now the ER RN’s are on point, fellow EMT’s, come correct or have your ass handed to you (not really) but cmon, RN’s are busy so have the info ready!

If you get bitten by a coyote apparently it’s ok. According to the medical staff, you don’t need medical attention. Unless, you start foaming at the mouth.

This is probably the worst hospital. The hospital looks like an airport because you have to go through a metal detector. My mom was taken here from Providence Holy Medical Center in Mission Hills to have a brain tumor removed. I was a little disappointed because the doctors there could have done it but I guess they sent her here. When I went to go visit her, all of the nurses were acting like assholes. A fat woman nurse started raising her voice at me not to go in the room. Another nurse told me to wait 30 minutes because she was «supposedly taking a nap» which she was awake the entire time. I saw her through a glass door. The nurse told me to wait 30 minutes which turned into two hours. Another nurse even made fun of my mom because she was in pain after the surgery saying that she shouldn’t be a baby. I wish they had surgery without any anesthesia to get a taste of their own medicine. Then I can make fun of them. I really wanted to punch those nurses The next time me or my mom need medical assistance, I will stay away from this hospital and go to another.

This place is horrible. My cousin was here for a motorcycle injury (broken ribs and wrist). They keep him in the surgical observation unit for three days on a gurney. It wasn’t until day four when he finally got a normal room with a comfortable bed. The nurses are the worst. I’ve know lots of nurses in my time and can say these ones care very little about their patients.

I fell backwards over a safety cone… go figure! …and wound up in the ER with a concussion.
My friend and I parked and we didn’t know where to go… should we go to the ER or maybe the clinic? Dunno. (I have a concussion remember.) I go to the clinic.
There are two security guards there. «I think I have a concussion. Where should I go?»
«Empty your pockets of metal objects sir and pass through the detector.»
I looked at both men and did as they said.
Blood is dripping down the back of my head.
«Where do I go?» I asked. I think they said second floor.
So I end up in the clinic. I tell the person taking my name and address that I just fell on my head and I’m bleeding. «Take a seat.»
They call me before a few others so they must be practicing triage. That makes me feel a bit better.
A nurse asks me several questions, takes my blood pressure, and asks why am I at the clinic instead of ER. I said, «I HAVE A CONCUSSION and the security guards (really, your FIRST line of triage) SENT me HERE!»
She had me and another patient follow her down the winding halls to ER.
Thirty minutes later I am in a room.
Three or four medical professionals came in to look at me. One or two were interns and at least one appeared to be a «real» doctor.
You’re okay. If you’ve made it this far without getting worse, chances are there is no internal bleeding. O. o
I was told to sit in the discharge room… honestly, one of the filthiest, nastiest rooms I’ve ever seen in a hospital. It looked like they cleaned it once a week. MAYBE.
Some firemen brought in a homeless man who started yelling. Another person was twitching from crank.
A woman came in and basically asked how the hell was I gonna pay for this and I produced and insurance card and I could tell she was shocked. About ten minutes later, the two discharge nurses looked at me and said, «You have insurance! Why the hell are you HERE!?»
Literally!
I said, uh, I fell on my head and I barely know my name?
Everyone on staff was friendly. You can tell they are doing the best with what they have. They told me that if I got worse to go to an ER close to home.
Which, a week later, I unfortunately needed to do and that cost me $ 1,150.
I’m okay now. It took about five weeks but I am me again. I can read, type and everything makes sense except for the occasional asndkjash jh aksjh dhakjhwasdiyu masdukj ahsdkh wjaks! Seriously! Alkhd ash aksdh asdioqwpe!

The care you get is top notch + there are delicious taco trucks outside!
Bad-​most of the receptionists hate life. They never pick up phone calls, are rude, and basically just dont give a F***. But its understandable because they probably go through tons of asshole throughout the day that it makes them really cranky. I just wish they would pick up my phone calls):
Be prepared to wait for hours… Depending on the clinic, my wait times varied from an hour to 5 hours.

First time here and I’m so glad that this is not the hospital where I need to come to for my medical services. I’m actually here for support and I can’t believe this madness.
We went to urgent care at 12PM and was transferred to ER and now it’s 11PM and we’re still here. The person sitting next to me told me that her parents have been waiting since 8AM and they’re still waiting. What’s wrong with this picture? She even said that some people have been waiting for 24 hours. OMG… Are you serious!!!
The waiting room in ER is really dirty and it has a funky smell. Since people have been waiting so long no wonder this place stinks. They need some air fresheners up in here.
This place is packed with people from all age groups with different needs. I feel bad for some people who have been waiting forever to receive services.
In addition, the restrooms here stinks. The smell actually traveled even with the door closed. Odor also comes from people that are sitting in this place.
Staff are not helpful at all here. The only response you’ll get from staff are «I don’t know, just have a seat». Ugh, someone shoot me!
Also heard that once everything is done and if you need to get medications, it will be another 4 hour wait for the pharmacy to fill your prescription. What??? Are you kidding me? Do they need to drive some where to get the pills?
Well I guess for people with no healthcare this place is not so bad.
