Established in 2012.

My name is Johnny Wu and I’ve been doing magic for almost 8 years now. I am a member of Hollywood magic castle and my specialty is close up/​strolling magic.

I performed for New York MGM resort, four season hotel, Kaiser Permanente, Yelp Prom, countless weddings, and private parties. The biggest audience crowd I’ve performed was 5000 people.

The style of my magic is very different from other magicians. My magic show is very modern and interactive! therefore through experience I had developed a handful of magic tricks that engage with the audience, and they will directly experience magic right in front of their eyes.

I am not only limited to card magic like the typical magicians, but I also uses daily objects such as rubber band, ring, coin, cell phone… etc

I have my own style as a magician. I wanted to stand out from the typical magic (ex:cups and ball, cut people in half) therefore through experience I developed a handful of magic tricks that engage with the audience, and they will directly experience magic right in front of their eyes.

The most amazing magic show I have seen live. Johnny did a show for Caltech postdocs and everyone enjoyed it a lot. Even us science PhD nerds could not solve most of his acts. Johnny is funny and friendly. Recommend him to anyone.

Five stars all the way! I dont know how he does it, but he does it ;)! Johnny’s tricks left me saying «Whaaat??? and No Wayyy!» because seriously I came into the experience every bit the skeptic and he defied and nullified my disbelief in magic after every trick.
I really believe this guy has skills. My party loved his tricks and till this day we are all left scratching our heads because none of the guests who participated — including myself — were part of the act. NOR were we able to see any flaws in his tricks… in front of our eyes he really did great magic and we all dont know how he did it?
He is funny and knows how to keep the crowd going. I was definitely satisfied with his performance and my guests were more satisfied than me — Now that says a lot ;) Johnny Wu keep doing your thing and wow-​ing people… you have a gift!

We hired Johnny for our daughter’s first birthday party. And we are so glad we did it. Right from our first phone call, Johnny was super jovial and very excited to be part of the festivities. He showed up at our venue right on time. All I had to do was introduce him and he just took over from there. His tricks were very cool and he kept the show very interactive and engaging. I could tell that everyone from young kids to grown ups were having a blast. Even the birthday girl (she’s one!) seemed very amused when he weaved in balloons into his magic tricks.
Johnny, thank you for helping make our daughters birthday celebrations even more special. Highly recommend you consider Johnny for your next special event. But call in advance — he is very popular and now I know why!

We had Johnny for our company dinner and he was absolutely a blast. A lot of the tricks he performed we have never seen a thought it was very amazing, he also used a lot of props an audience to make things more interesting. He continued to amaze us throughout the night if we have a vast next time we will hire him for sure.

Johnny was great! I recently went to a friend’s birthday party… yes and adult friend turning 40. In general, I’m not into magic and thought I wouldnt be interested in the show, but Johnny was really great a catching everyone’s attention, and better yet he was actually hilarious. There were points in his show that I was crying of laughter. His magic was impressive. He starts off messing around but gets into really interesting illusions (not tricks!). He was super nice throughout the entire show, even when certain volunteers were getting impatient with something, he was able to show that the wait was worth the journey to see the illusion unfold. He hung out after and did more interactive illusions and was super nice the whole time.

I was searching for a Magician that could cater to a younger and older crowd, plus had the ability to speak both English and Chinese… and I found Johnny Wuuuuuuuuuuuuu! He was able to «WOW» my family/​friends, made everyone laugh and they raved about him after the show. I rather enjoyed his performance because he did both Stage and Close up/​Strolling magic. My cousins spent the night trying to figure out some of his tricks which was hiralious :) Finally, my dad (the Guest of Honor) thought the magic was memorable, entertaining and really funny! Johnny was at our company party last December, and he was WICKED (no pun intended)!!! Everyone had so much fun — his talent deserves recognition.
Ok, enough with the headlines, let’s get down to the details: John was very professional from day one, which is odd for entertainers sometimes. He answer every single one of our inquiries and quoted us ahead of time with available dates and time. Once we committed on a date, he followed through as agreed, I can really appreciate this because I don’t have the time to chase magicians.
On the date of the event, John made sure that everything related to his performance was ready — needless to say he showed up on time and prepared. The Banquet Room in Pasadena worked very well for his show, and the crowd never lost sight of his performance. He’s pretty good at getting the audience interested and engaged. His entire act was pulled off perfectly.
In short, I highly recommend Johny — we know he will be coming back to our event this year.

Had the pleasure of watching Johnny’s magic show at my friends son’s 8th birthday party. He was very entertaining the kids loved him. There wasn’t a dull moment with this guy. His tricks were pretty awesome as it kept the kids and the adults guessing. He is a truly amazing magician. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for fun, laughs and entertainment.

After reading the stellar Unilocal reviews, and reaching out to a few fellow Unilocalers who had hired Johnny Wu before, we decided to take the plunge and booked JW for our son’s 5th birthday party. The communication with Johnny was pretty good. He was very responsive with my initial inquiries — answering all my q’s about his show and the type of magic he performs. Closer to our party date, it took several tries to contact him via personal email and Unilocal PM to get our final questions answered — I’m not gonna lie, this worried me. Especially so close to the party date. But in the end I was able to connect with him.
Johnny arrived promptly and with flair — he rolled up on a hover board like a boss and wow’d both kids and adults alike. His show was an hour long and he entertained everyone in attendance. I had requested he focus most of his magic tricks towards entertaining the kiddos, and to engage the kid guests and my son. He did that and more by recruiting volunteers and using the bday boy in several of his illusions. Johnny even got my husband into the act and performed the «French Kiss» bit — can’t explain the trick, but let’s just say the audience loved it while my hubs was a little traumatized! Not only were the tricks great, but his performance style was upbeat, energetic, and peppered with comedy.
IMHO, a drawback was there was background music during the show that was a little too loud and distracted from the tricks. It would have been better had it been turned down a couple of notches.
The cost to hire Johnny wasn’t on the low side: $ 350 for the hr show, plus a $ 40 «travel fee». So $ 390 plus tip if you choose to tip. But after experiencing his well-​executed show, I would say I thought hiring him was worth the cost. He entertained all our guests for a good hour and made our son’s birthday an experience he won’t soon forget. In my son’s words after the party, «that magic genie was really cool!». Thanks, Johnny!

Johnny performed at my company holiday party at the Sky Room in Long Beach & he was a fantastic entertainer. He performs magic with swag and personality which made it very enjoyable for all of us. He was really funny and his magic tricks blew me away. I was really amazed at how well he pulled everything off.
I highly recommend hiring him at parties and I would not hesitate to have him again at our company’s holiday parties or even my own family parties.

Truly blown away!!! Johnny performed at my son’s first birthday party this evening. I know at first many will say what does a one year old know about parties or magic shows. The show was entertaining for all our guests including my parents who are usually very serious. Even the family members who did not speak English were having a great time. Johnny had a great way of interacting with everyone. Best magic trick he did was making everyone at the party not want to leave! LOL Ok so maybe that wasn’t one of his tricks but a great magician makes one year old birthday parties fun for everyone. Our party was a hit and it was thanks to Johnny. I am still scratching my head trying to figure out how he got my card to appear on a drawing without him drawing it. If you need a magician go with Johnny. Johnny is the man! My husband met Johnny at a previous event and was raving about his magic, so I knew he had to be rad. We hired Johnny to perform at our cocktail hour at our wedding at The Ritz-​Carlton Laguna Niguel (October 2015) and couldn’t be happier! It was my grandaunts 90th birthday and my cousins had hired Johnny as our entertainment for the night.
His performance was funny and very entertaining. He even brought music to play in accordance to his tricks. His performance consisted of a variety of magic tricks which were not your typical pull a rabbit out of a hat type of tricks. I won’t say too much to spoil his act, but it was definitely a crowd pleaser.
Johnny’s personality caters to audiences of all ages! My younger nephews were ecstatic and my grandaunts thoroughly enjoyed being apart of his magic tricks. Johnny had many jokes to go along with his tricks as well!
I definitely would recommend hiring Johnny Wu to make your event extra special.

Johnny is an exceptional combination of talent and showmanship. We hired him to perform for 30 kids (ages 7 and under) at our twins’ pool party celebration and he had the undivided attention of the children during the entire show. He expertly entertained and engaged both parents and kids alike with his magic act, despite the fact that an Olympic-​size pool and waterslide were only steps away — a tall order during August in Southern California! Needless to say, his professionalism goes beyond the stage as he is also super responsive with inquiries. Based on our guests feedback and in our opinion, he created a worthwhile experience that our kids, friends and family will always remember!
