History

Established in 2006.

I’ve been a freelance make-​up artist since 2006 and have primarily worked in the entertainment industry on everything from photo shoots to feature films. Keeping up with current trends, new techniques and products keeps me on the leading edge and ensures the highest quality in my work. Continued education is paramount if you want to evolve and progress as an artist so I am always looking for opportunities to refine my skill set.

I’m an Oklahoma native but have made a cozy little home in Los Angeles and have been a happy resident here since 2006. With the exception of 7th-​9th grade art classes in public school I am a self taught artist. I’ve been a freelance makeup artist in the entertainment industry since 2006.

If you’re looking for picture perfect make up, look no further than JJ Poff. Not only is she an amazing artist but she is kind, professional and patient. You can tell that she genuinely loves her job. I needed a profile picture for my LinkedIn page — I am not terribly photogenic — and she made me look like a million bucks while maintaining my «natural me». I will definitely hire JJ again!

JJ did my makeup while I was shooting my cooking show. I’ve seen her glamor make up and have been blown away! However as a man that’s not exactly what I need. The makeup she did on me, looked so natural you couldn’t tell that I was wearing makeup. However, if you know me, you know that I looked 10 years younger. She is a true artist!

I can’t think of enough positive things to say about JJ. She is a true artist and professional, and she’s a joy to work with. She worked with me on a two day music video shoot, and a photo shoot, and her work on both far exceeded my expectations.
She has a great color sense, and is able to create many looks flawlessly. The music video shoot was demanding — two days outdoors in pretty extreme weather, with several 1960’s inspired hairstyles and makeup combos, but she aced it. :-)
