Came here with my family for Mother’s Day and it was pretty packed inside. Fortunately there is a large parking lot behind the restaurant that is shared with neighboring restaurants and shops in the plaza. Service: I really could not be any more disappointed with the service that we received. In such a packed restaurant on a Sunday night there were only two workers in the front, and with all the work that they have to do it just wasn’t enough people. My family sat at two tables pushed together and one of the tables received appetizers 15 minutes before the other table which is so odd because technically we were all one table and sitting right next to each other. We received attitude from an older woman working there when commenting on the fact that it was taking a ridiculous amount of time to receive an appetizer that both of the tables received at the same time. Food: the food was good in my opinion. I would not say it was excellent or extraordinary or anything that I would go back for. we ordered the most expensive option and I would’ve thought there would be a little more variety to what we were eating but instead it felt like we had been eating clams for 90% of the time. I really think my experience was tainted by the quality of service or lack thereof I left reeking of the food we ate and with red smokey eyes. I do not think I will be coming back here anytime soon

An exceptional amount of delicious food for the price. My party of 4 ordered option«C» and all agreed that it could have fed 6 people. We ordered a couple of sides, too — corn, pancake, kimchi(refills are free!) — along with some beer. The dipping sauces were awesome, too. We decided that next time we’ll stick with a smaller option — we were happy to try the variety, but the clams(tiny and large), oysters, mussels, and abalone were our favorites!

I really enjoyed this place! My family and I decided to try this place for the first time for my brother’s birthday. I saw my friends had recently came here and decided to come here and try. The menu is simple. There are 3 combos(A, B, C) ranging from $ 50 something to $ 104.99. Combo A is said for 2 people, B for 3 people, and C for 4 people so my family ordered the Combo C because it was the 4 of us. I liked how the waiter and waitress are super friendly and explains to us what we don’t understand. I do agree with some of the other reviews, that service is a tad slow because its mainly 1 person serving everyone, but I did notice that a lot of people didn’t mind people they were eating and TALKING to their friends. Its like you also need to just enjoy the moment and have fun talking to the people your with. The seafood here is super FRESH! The shrimps were still moving when it got to our table! I thought that was a great bonus because I know my seafood is fresh when it gets to my table. I also like how they use charcoal fire instead of just straight gas. I know they still need gas to keep the charcoal fire going, but at least they add charcoal. The charcoal gives off a different taste for the seafood. As for the combo C, it is so worth the $ 104.99. We ate so much seafood and also had soup with noodles and lots of extra!(steamed egg, corn, etc) Also ordered a Hite, so our total was about $ 112.00 before tax. I thought for the price and the food amount we got it was pretty worth it for the 4 of us. At the end my whole family was happy with the meal and we were super full! I thought this wouldn’t make us food cause its just straight seafood but I was wrong. It is super satisfying, and I would come back here again! Give it a try! Its something new and NOT Korean BBQ… ^_^

Ok let’s start with the service. Been here for four times and I noticed that their services is not consistent, differs each time, sometime very slow and annoying and there are times also that it is very fast and the servers seems to be so energetic, that’s I’m not sure if they do shifting cause most of the times the cause of having inconsistent quality services especially if the company didn’t imposed standards. Anyway, the place is always busy, one of the good signs that many people loves it. Second is the food. First statement would be, «it’s incredibly delicious and pretty good». It is incomparable. …And mainly that’s my reason why I registered to Unilocal, just to commend this establishment. Seafood is very fresh, and it’s grilled under wood blocks. I highly recommend.

I’ve been to the other location in Hollywood but came here for the first time yesterday. Came around 7pm-ish and it was pretty half way empty. By the time it was 8pm it got very packed. Got their combo A(around $ 55) for me & the boyfriend. We got so full we couldn’t finish some seafood + noodles we got after our meal. The seafood seemed clean and well prepared. We had 2 waiters always coming by and checking up on us and made the meal enjoyable. I really hope they develop more sauces though. they only had two type of hotsauce for the cooked seafood, which wasn’t bad but more variety would definitely make it better. Also, everything was great but the parking. it was hard to find a parking space until we circled around few times.

The place for grilling fresh seafood over a charcoal fire, and eating grilled seafood as it is without needing to season it with salt, etc., is a great way to enjoy and taste the seafood. Sure, there were sauces available for dipping, but I didn’t need it. For a party of 3, we ordered Combination Platter C which offers a variety of clams, oysters, mussels, shrimp, scallops and abalone(fresh live abalone from their tanks). Yam and potatoes, as well as spicy baby octopus, hag fish and squid, came with the platter as well(though they were out of squid this night and provided us with more hag fish). Ban chan included kim chee, a pancake, steamed egg, cheesy corn and a bowl of a version of shrimp cocktail/ceviche. It was a lot of food, enough for four, but we are big eaters, so it was just right for us. Hag fish was the only thing that wasn’t a favorite of us. It has an interesting smoky flavor as well as a rubbery texture. It’s an acquired taste for those who are not familiar with it, as we were. Service is attentive, and they help you out with the grilling of the seafood. All servers a bilingual in Korean and English, so no need for non-Korean speakers to fret.

The most ridiculous and rude thing I’ve encountered in recent years. Long story short, check with your waiter that every single item on that combo is available and will be served. Don’t expect they will be nice and make up to you later. Fact is not all things are guaranteed as listed on the menu! We have party of four and got recommended to choose between B or C. I don’t eat squid but three of my friends love it so we went for C. But till the end, there’s no squid. When we asked, first the waiter said we never serve octopus and squid together. So we brought the menu and both are listed. She the went to check and came back saying its seasonal. And said since its seafood she assume ppl know it’s seasonal. What the heck? Ok. First you could have told us? Second you can make up with something else? Then why we paid 105 for something is 80 bucks worthy. At last, she was like hay see? There’s a little line saying not all menu items will be guaranteed. Oh my, so now the menu like those tricky contract where you need to read all the words otherwise, gotcha! Plus, the food is very plain, just have seafood thrown on the grill, not much sauce or marinated. And it’s smokey. My throat kept a burning choke still now. Very bad experience, not good food, trick on the menu, indifferent or rude rather waitress. Please don’t bother to come.

Got the combo A. There was plenty of clams, shrimps, oysters, mussels, and baby octopus for the two of us. They were all fresh and tasted so good! We also had some savory, buttery soup with scallions. I really liked the corn, pancake, and ceviche. Ceviche was spicy and had a refreshing taste. Pancake was crispy and delicious. The corn was wonderful! We got a second order and i thought it was free but it actually cost $ 2 for extra orders. But the man gave it to us for free anyways! Service is 5⁄5. Food is 4⁄5. I got food sick in the morning after but I think it is because i had too much oysters and clams… but my boyfriend was perfectly fine.

To be clear, since there’s no half ratings allowed, I’m giving this place 3.5 stars. Parking: 2 options: Parking lot in the back or street parking and walk to the main street and go through the entrance. Service: Slow… can’t say why or their reasons, because the restaurant wasn’t that packed or busy. There was 6 tables excluding mine, took 15 minutes to get water AFTER asking for it, and for first timers, they don’t really explain the menu to you. Food: Unlike the service, the food was pretty good. The seafood seems pretty fresh, and it’s grilled under wood blocks. BEAWARE, there’s gonna be ashes floating around everywhere, and i mean EVERYWHERE. Reason why I gave it a 3.5 stars, sum it up, it’s not amazing, it’s not one of its kind, it’s good seafood cooked over a grill… so it’s above average

First off, shocked at their price, and disappointed at the quality of food for the price marked. I don’t like shell fish so we just went for the Ggom Jan Uh & Sea Eel($ 44.99) Ggom Jang Uh seemed legit with large portion. but Oh My Salt Goddess!!! Why you so salty? Ggom jang uh is not even from the sea. Is it not fresh? is that why this ggom jan uh is salted like hell??? Boong Jang Uh(Sea Eel) is fat and big. Taste is okay, but doesn’t have that chewy-ness Fresh eel is supposed to have. Maybe its because the Eel is to big…? I don’t know. The meat was flabby. eh. I love how they actually use real charcoal and have no valet parking which is rare for ktown! I am not sure if I am going to come back for anything. maybe for the live shrimp.maybe.

I was a little disappointed in the live octopus because it wasn’t «alive enough» to my liking. It barely moved around … it just moved a little. But thats probably just the octopus’s issue not the restaurant. Had the combo set C and it came with a free bottle(of your choice). We got the bhek seh joo. The service was good, they come around and give you all the things you need and also cook/put on the food onto your grill for you. They are informative on how to eat it and when it will be okay to eat the seafood. For the hag fish, ask for the sauce because it is really sweet and tangy with the sauce. And also Combo Set C comes with a seafood«kal-gook-soo» noodle soup which is refreshing to eat/drink after you are done with your food. I would advise to bring another set of clothes if you are planning to go out after. Or wearing like a basic shirt over your clothes because you tend to smell like seafood/ashes/burnt seafood cooking after you leave the restaurant.

They have so many side dishes that were yummy. I tried it for the first time and it’s like those places that you go to and while you are eating it it’s like«oh it’s pretty good I guess» and you go home and you dream about it.

7⁄10: would come again — I’m not a big seafood person, but I came with 3 other friends and it was surprisingly good. — The service was good, they were really helpful and friendly. — Wide variety of seafood that’s included(never had hagfish before), everything tasted fresh as well. — Ended up being about $ 30/person; the amount we got seemed to be worth it. Esp with the sides, potatoes, and corn!

Atmosphere: Not the cleanest restaurant. I noticed they had a B rating. Food: I guess I don’t like clams that much. I had a nostalgic longing for clams so I went in… had it and my longing is gone. Price: We ordered the $ 59 combo for the two of us. How much can clams fill you up? Overall: Wanted it, had it, done with it. Nothing special. Will not go back again unless I have a strange longing for clams again in probably 10 years. Wouldn’t recommend it for the price.

Attention all seafood lovers, this is one place you should try! Korean Seafood on a grilll~ So delicious My girlfriends and I craved some clams after watching this korean drama soooooooo we Unilocaled places where we can get baked clams! They have three different combo sets! We ordered Combo Set B: $ 84.99(I believe its enough for 3 – 4 mouths) It comes with… Oyster Conch Shrimp Large clam Abalone — Fresh abalone. The grilling process is a bit sad. You see the abalone in distress, moving around for its life… BUT its so good. Baby octopus Irk shell mussel Manila clam Pink scallop Mosi clam Pasta neck clam Sweet potato Potato They tell you that the clams will slowly open up their shell. once it is fully open, you should eat it right away. If its on the grill too long, the clam gets too hot and it will pop up! Happened to us when we least expected it and scared us! and of course, comes with side dishes too Kimchi Veggies — carrot celery and one green pepper Morae –sashimi salad Cream corn Steamed Egg Pancake At the end comes, comes kal gook soo(rice noodle soup). Yes I will be coming here again!

KOREANSEAFOODBBQALLTHEWAY! Fresh seafood, tons of food, good service. That’s all it really takes for me. Quality over quantity. If you are a first timer go for the combo type thing. Meal for 2, 3, 4, 5 type thing. ENJOY! ^^

New location of Jae Bu Do? Down! The original place usually has a really long wait, so I was very happy to see that this location had no wait at all when I arrived. We got combo C, and it looks like the price was raised by around $ 10. It is now over $ 100 for combo 3… but it is a lot of food– good to feed 4 – 6 people! My least favorite are the oysters as they use the cheap ones that taste briny, but everything else is great! I love their banchan, especially their corn cheese and their cold ceviche salad. We got like 5 orders of corn cheese… it was that good. The seafood is fresh and they’re still moving when we put them on the grill. I love the soup they have, it has a nice aromatic flavor yet is light and a nice break from all that seafood. The servers do everything for you; you don’t really have to worry about cutting anything. Use the glove to open the shells and the shrimp so you won’t burn your hand! There’s a giant bowl of udon at the end to finish off that we could not finish, and we totally forgot about the sweet potato at the bottom! Great new location of this restaurant! Parking is in the back, so just go around. The hag fish is kind of gross– when it grills the cartilage comes out. Have fun with that one!

I came here because the wait is much shorter than the original location on Western. And really, who doesn’t love grilled seafood? Put some char-grilled clams and oysters in front of me and I am happy, happy, happy!!! Maybe it’s because we were the first table in there for dinner service and they weren’t quite warmed up yet, but one of the servers was too busy checking her phone to hear me ask for water. That, I can actually give a pass on. When the bill came, there were three people who paid with a card, and the rest was in cash. I did what I do at all restaurants, I wrote the last four digits of each card on the back of the bill with how much they are to charge on each card. When they picked up the check, I told them what I did and explained that the written amounts on each card(and each card was charged the same amount) included the tip for the overall check. A few minutes went by… I noticed that the person who picked up the check looked very confused by the register, and had another person helping him out. A few more minutes went by… They brought our check back and asked if the amounts we were charging on the cards included tip. I confirmed. They look confused. I got confused. I did the math all over again. With my calculations, we were leaving a little over a 20% tip(even with the only passable service). A few more minutes went by… They came back. «So is the tip included in the amounts?» «Yes.» “Is there a way for us to charge you a different amount on each card so that you can add the tip later?” «Does it matter?» «It’s easier for us this way.» «But what about the cash?» «Oh, those are okay.» «I don’t get why you have to charge different amounts so that we add the tip later then.» «This way, it’s easier for us.» … Frankly, they could have charged us a penny short and asked us to just tip them a penny; they could have charged us a penny on each card and asked us to tip them the rest; they could have charged the cards what we asked them to and the cash we gave would have been enough to cover the tip! Sigh… The food didn’t disappoint, but if the older ladies at the original location can do this kind of math, I was hoping that the younger servers at this new location would be able to handle this better. After a great meal, it just left a bad taste in my mouth…
