We are a holistic Optometry practice, integrating traditional medicine with more holistic and natural treatments such as homeopathy, nutritional supplements, diet and exercise (yes, even for your eyes!) to focus on your overall health and wellness.

We have a beautiful optical shop next door with the a huge selection of glasses and sunglasses from designers including: Miu Miu, Dita, Oliver Peoples, Maui Jim, Oakley, Ferragamo, Dragon, Oakley, Tom Ford, Ray Ban and many others. Our prices are 20−30% lower than «big box» retail optical shops, and we always use the best quality optics when making your prescription.

We are part of a multi-​disciplinary wellness center that includes a Naturopathic doctor, Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Ophthalmology, and Homeopathic Medicine.

We customize each patient’s prescription by using the latest lens designs and technology to maximize your vision to improve your performance at work, school, and sports. Vision can also be improved with Vision Therapy, nutritional supplements, and changes in diet.

Our doctors use the latest technology: from medical lasers to infrared eye tracking systems, and digital retinal imaging to retinal nerve fiber layer scanners for glaucoma, to help them diagnose your vision problems sooner, and provide the highest level of treatment available.

History

Established in 1919.

The Hollywood Vision Center — Optometry has been a landmark provider of eye care services in the area since 1919. Originally located in Hollywood «proper», the practice has always been a fixture in both the local community and the entertainment community, serving professionals and families alike.

For almost a century, the practice has been the vision care home to «royalty» from the worlds of film, television, theater, comedy, music, politics, and sports. We have even taken care of royal families and a former U.S. President (small hint: think Hollywood).

Today, the Hollywood Vision Center — Optometry combines the latest technology with a holistic and caring approach.

Business Owner

Dr. Brisco is an Integrative Optometrist. We offer the following services: Children’s Vision, Rehabilitative Vision, Vision Therapy, Sports Vision, Strabismus and Amblyopia.

We have a beautiful optical shop with designers such as DITA, Oliver Peoples, Miu Miu, Prada, Mykita and Oakley. Our Contact Lens department offers lenses for almost every patient including multi-​focals, astigmatism, and cosmetic colored lenses.

We integrate natural treatments to support your body’s self– healing abilities. For example, for our patients with dry eyes, we recommend tear stimulation drops to produce more of your own tears, rather than artificial tears.

Dr. Brisco graduated from the University of Southern California with honors, and completed her doctorate with Distinction at the Southern California College of Optometry. She has earned two post-​Doctorate Fellowships from the American Academy of Optometry, and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. She is also a Clinical Homeopath.

I found the Hollywood Vision Center on Unilocal after my other eye Dr. (Dr Paul First) closed his office. Went today for my first eye exam and was very pleased. The staff was very friendly and professional. I had Lasik 5 years ago and recently felt like I was squinting a bit. Sure enough I do need glasses for some computer work and driving at night. Dr Brisco was personable and took the time to explain things.
They also took a picture of my eye in place of the typical eye dilation which allowed them to see inside the eye and the health of it. It was an optional fee but I didn’t mind paying it since I had it at Dr. First’s office and thought it was beneficial.
They also do children’s exams so I’m planning on bringing my child in.

They’re awesome. They went out of their way to help me maximize my VSP coverage so that my out of pocket costs for prescription glasses would be as low as possible. Then when my frames suddenly broke a few months later, they popped my lenses into another pair of the same frames in a different color and were willing to let me take them as a loaner until they were able to repair or replace my broken pair, but I asked if I could just keep the pair in the different color and they said fine. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes!

Love these guys. Yes, they do all the regular stuff like check your eyes and help you get glasses or contact lenses if you need them. But, what really stands out for me was how they made me see better.
For many years I had what is known as a «lazy eye». You couldn’t tell by looking at me. I didn’t even know this nor did any eye doctor that I saw ever tell that I did. But, I always knew something was wrong with my right eye. And I was never able to quite describe the symptoms in a way that any previous doctor could diagnose. They would ignore me or just give up trying. But, the problem persisted.
Finally, I switched doctors and came to Hollywood Vision Center. Once again I tried to explain the symptoms I was experiencing. They did some tests right in the room and immediately diagnosed my issue. «Oh, you have right eye esophoria.» Then they showed me all the ways I wasn’t seeing correctly. It was such a relief to know that I wasn’t crazy and that it was fixable.
Dr. Brisco recommended Vision Therapy which they offer in their office. And I worked with Cecilia for eight months and my vision went from 20⁄60 to 20⁄20. The therapy consists of meeting with her once a week then doing various eye exercises at home.
So, yes, go there for your regular needs, but also for the things that go beyond check-​ups and glasses.

This was my first visit to Hollywood Vision Center and it was fabulous! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I did end up in a room where the vision test letters were the same for each test they did, which made me wonder if it was an accurate test of my vision if i already knew what the letters were. I mentioned this to the assistant and he was happy to take me to another room and double check with different letters. It made a slight difference. I was happy that he acted like it was no big deal and not a problem at all that I asked for a double check. The doctor herself (Briscol) is very kind as well. She has a son and even ice skates! She made me feel very comfortable. She encouraged me to take retinal photos, which was an additional cost, but she genuinely did seem like she was looking out for my best interest.
When it was time for me to pick out glasses, I had so much fun! The woman who helped me (Mitra) was SO helpful in styling me. I have no clue what my face shape is or what looks good, so it was lifesaving to have her there. Doctor Briscol even mentioned that Mitra had styled many celebrities. Mitra also helped me pick out sunglasses and was very patient when I took the time to think over the costs. Although the doctor appointment was quick and easy, they allowed me to stay there for hours afterwards and mull over the choices in eyewear. The sunglasses and glasses I ended up with are so fashionable! I’m excited to wear them and show them off. I feel like a true LA fashionista with them on.
Overall, fabulous, fun experience. Would highly recommend.

Thank you thank you thank you! You are a lifesaver. 3 screws were missing from the 4 screws holding my eyeglasses together I had put them together with staples. Bent and twisted stapels holding the arms on my glasses. I was a walk in off the street and your office had mercy on me. The nicest office ever.

I received a new pair of glasses as a gift to replace my old ones, but they didn’t fit quite as well and gave me a headache, so I needed them to be adjusted. I called ahead and they said to come in and they’d adjust them for free. When I came in, the optometrist immediately started talking me into getting their $ 190 eye exam (even though I told her my prescription was only a year old). After sending me back to the receptionist to find out if my health insurance covered the eye exam I didn’t need, she said she’d adjust the frames. When I came back, she had adjusted my OLD frames and didn’t touch my new ones. She then scheduled me for an eye exam that I didn’t want. Now I have two sets of frames that give me a headache and an appointment I don’t want or need.
1 star because the store is beautiful and the receptionist was really nice.

I have been seeing Dr Elise Brisco for many years. I have introduced several friends to her and everyone believes she is the best in Los Angeles. She treats each patient with personal care. Her commitment to the health of the eye is commendable.
She has advised a homeopathic regimen for me that has actually halted my macular degeneration.

I had to write a review for the Hollywood Vision Center after I visited because I had such a great experience. I recently moved to LA and its been very hard to find physicians here so I’ve been pretty much going by Unilocal and recommendations from friends. I’m a contact and glasses wearer and it was time to get both.
I found the Hollywood Vision Center by a recommendation of a friend and I have to say I’m so glad she told me to come here. The office is clean and inviting and the front desk staff are welcoming. I received an exam for both contacts and glasses from Dr. Brisco and she was awesome. She answered all of my questions and asked me about my vision history. She really cared about making sure I was taking care of my eyes.
After my exam Mitra helped me pick out my frames, it was a fun experience because she picked out glasses for me to try on and I felt like my friend was there with me helping me out. She was honest when a frame looked good and when I should try another. She even asked her colleague Marlon for a second opinion.
I finally found my perfect pair and got a 6 month supply of contacts and I the best thing is, its the least I’ve ever paid for glasses and contacts!!! I’ve been to Lens Crafters, America’s Best Etc (I’ve worn glasses for 19 years) I’d HIGHLY recommend the Hollywood Vision Center. Thanks!

Best eye exam. My son is 14 months old and Dr. Brisco was pretty thorough on why it was important for him to get his eyes checked, thank goodness to her expertise my son came out clean he does not have any vision problems which was my concern because I am near sighted with astigmatism. My wife also had her first eye exam ever and she was extremely happy. Once again thank you Dr. Brisco and staff.

Wow! Was I surprised to find an Integrative optometrist! I’m all about cutting edge medicine and this is one more addition to my group of caregivers. I’d been hearing about Dr. Brisco from a few people, so I made an appointment. The office is lovely, the staff is amazing, kind, helpful, and they explain everything before they do it. They also do whatever they can to see if your insurance covers eye exams or offers a discount plan.
Dr. Brisco is incredibly kind, thorough and professional. I really felt cared for. No time was wasted. Everything moved like a symphony. The exam is painless and thorough. No pressure to purchase new frames if you prefer to use your old ones. Dr. Brisco also uses homeopathy in addition to traditional allopathic medicine if you need it. So refreshing to find this kind of practice.

This group doesn’t care about the patient. They lie to you and try to cover up their mistakes. They scratched my glasses with a eye glass router they had in the office asked me to pick up the glasses at closing, the lights were off and they rushed me out so I did not see the horrid scratches until I got home. Then they tried to tell me it was my fault because I accepted the frames thus it was an as is sale. When I stood up for myself they sent out this scary woman who tried to bully me. Thank goodness I had a friend with me who wasn’t afraid of the jerk who was belittling me.
You pay too much at this office to be treated so poorly. I have moved on and found a much better eye doctor that treats everyone with respect.

I went here for about a year for therapy to treat a «lazy eye» sustained after a car accident. The therapist was excellent, absolutely treated my condition.
Dr Brisco has a very friendly personality, and is incredibly smart. She recently saw my husband for a pre-​op for LASIK. She referred the surgeon performing both our LASIK procedures, and I strongly recommend this office for all vision issues.
