I see many positive reviews here for Dennis and I wish I could recommend him. I feel that he really had a carpetbagger mentality during this rebate period of time… maybe under less pressured circumstances it would have been easier to work with him. I was in a hurry to do my project as the rebate was running out and Dennis came along and assured me that he would have no trouble completing the job and submitting the materials for the rebate. I was going out of town so I was nervous about leaving him to do the work in my absence but he said it would be no problem. Well, it was a huge problem. We had lots of difficulty communicating while I was gone… my sister, who was still here in LA tried to pin him down but with no luck. He did sort of come close to finishing the job… at least for the rebate… just hours before it had to be submitted. And at the last minute thought I was submitting the paperwork… so again a huge scramble to get the photos sent in(while I was still out of town)…and then once that was done… he disappeared. That was August 13th and I am still waiting for him to finish the project and it is now October 20th. In addition the part that was most upsetting was that we agreed to a three part payment plan… a deposit… a payment when most of the work was completed and a 20% final payment after the last walk through… when it was totally done. Dennis, however, chose to charge my credit card the full amount at the time of the second payment, leaving with no recourse and the job not finished. I find that most disreputable. I’ve given him months to come and complete the work. he claims he will and then never shows.

Could not have asked for a better partner in designing my landscape project. I had some definite ideas of what I wanted and clueless of how to achieve them. And some ideas were not at all logical. Dennis is a great listener and able to take ideas and concepts and propose his own experience to improve and implement them. He is very much hands on and takes ownership and responsibility for the work. Months after the project was completed he took the time to come back and check on the work and do any tweaks. And most of all, he made it fun and very pleasurable Oh yeah and very much on budget.

The best way to describe our experience with GLC Gardens is «Great Timing!» We met Dennis when he was doing work on two of our neighbor’s parkways. He’s very personable, and has a very good sense of what will work with a customer’s budget. He will meet with customers multiple times to get a good sense of what they want, and has great suggestions to make their ideas really work with the space and budget they have. We went with him to a local nursery to get an even better sense of the plants we really wanted, and he took very thorough notes throughout. We wanted a drought-tolerant yard that was as green as possible, and he came through with flying colors! What we also really liked about his design sense is that compared to other turf-replacement companies, he provides a greater range and variety of plants, groundcover, gravel, etc. to make every yard unique and beautiful. When it came down to the actual work, his crews were swift, efficient, and friendly. Our grass was replaced with a plethora of drought-tolerant plants within a week of approving the final design. As it happened, we got some extra rain to boot, which helped establish the plants without running up our water bill. Dennis was also very helpful in navigating the bureaucratic nightmare that is the city of LA in terms of the rebates available for replacing grass with drought-tolerant plants. We got in just under the wire for the rebates, thanks to his help! It’s been about two months since the work was done on our yard, and we continue to keep getting compliments galore on how great the yard looks! I’d recommend Dennis and his company to anyone who wants to redo their yard!

Just Today our landscaping was finished and WELOVEIT! First– I want to say my husband was all gung ho about the rebate and removal, however, I was very hesitant and anxious and not sure we were doing the right thing because I really loved the grass. After a serendipitous meeting with Dennis at a Resource fair, checking his referrals and visiting other sites he worked on, we finally went ahead with it. We had a shoe string budget and his bid was fair and reasonable-even with changes we made along the way. He submitted the rebate for us and we started the week after approval notification. He knows what is needed for the pictures and work to be done. Dennis has a great aesthetic sense and really understood our concerns and listened to our desires. It was an evolving project as we had a few different ideas and changed a bit of the plans along the way and his suggestions were terrific. He has so much passion and vision and really cared that we were happy as the job went along. Basically, he held my hand every step of the way– as I had so many concerns and fears that it wasn’t going to be something I would really like– but it went very smoothly. We touched base often as the work continued and always got back to me when I contacted him. And he was very flexible ! His crew were great guys, considerate, respectful, always on time and always cleaned up after the day’s work. Always so friendly and such hard workers. We visited a garden center with Dennis and went over the plants we really liked so he had a really good feel for what we wanted –He was very knowledgeable about the plants that would and would not work for our space. — and then we let him create. And create he did! He used drought tolerant plants, flagstones, gravel, decomposed granite, mulch, broken concrete as I love seeing different textures and materials. We loved working with Dennis to create a beautiful back yard! We’re so thankful to him and glad it’s over — now time for entertaining!

I don’t usually write online reviews, but I’ll make an exception for Dennis because his work is so great! I met Dennis a couple of times before going ahead with a landscaping project for my home. I was doing a lot of other work and the time never seemed right to start the yard, but when my 50th birthday was coming around and I knew I wanted to have a big yard party, I decided to bite the bullet and do the work. The timeline was short, but Dennis assured me we’d have it done in time and that my guests would love it. He was right on both counts! He came up with a great, organic design that I just loved, using rocks to create a kind of dry riverbed, and building up a berm to give my yard some height in front. It has always been a flat, pretty uninteresting front yard, but no longer. Now, we have a real entry path, as well as a path from the driveway, a wonderful little front patio for sitting in the sun, and a beautiful collection of grasses, succulents and other drought resistant plants put together in a lovely design. Every morning I take some time to sit out on the one big rock that anchors the little dry riverbed and have a cup of coffee. It is a perfect sunny perch. In addition to the great design work, Dennis was a real pleasure to work with. He took a lot of time to talk with me about what my needs were, how I wanted to use the yard. We worked out a design that let me keep several of the existing trees and work them in so they look like they were part of the new plan. Also, he took the time to go with me to a nursery to look at the types of plants I liked and sourced some of the ones I showed him from Pinterest that I really wanted to see in my yard. Dennis’ crew was also great. I wound up doing a lot of extra work with him on top of the landscaping in the hurry to get ready for my party, and he was able to get his crew working on those other needs as well, which really saved time and got us done in time. As predicted, the guests were all extremely impressed at the new landscaping, and I get a lot of neighbors stopping by to compliment the new yard as well. Everyone is impressed by it’s design and beauty! Thanks so much to Dennis!
