G & R Auto

Ever since my Subaru dealer coverage ran out I bring my car to G&R Auto. These folks always do a fantastic job at a reasonable price and do it fast. I drop my car off at 9am and by 12pm get a call to pick up. They also offer to drop me off after I drop off my car but I only live 2 blocks away to no need, but nice to know.
My car only requires regular tune ups at this time, but if it ever needs more than that I will, without a doubt, bring it to G&R Auto. Do not hesitate and put your car in good hands.

Over priced $ 45 to resurface a head is excessive went to another shop and it was only $ 25 and checked another shop and was $ 25 too. This shop tries to get over on you shop around and compare prices!

best place in LA to get your car fixed they always explain everything to me and then they do great work and charge really really reasonable prices. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I think I’m going to start coming here for oil changes because I trust them so much

Been sending people here since 2012, when I first discovered this gem! My first review was a good one, but here I’ll go into more detail.
When you work on your own product, you understand having a good machine shop is key. Not only that, but when you visit G&R they’re constantly busy with different kinds of jobs. Basic maintenance on customer cars, to full engine rebuilds. When I walked in today Alex was assembling the bottom end of Nissan truck engine that was being rebuilt for a customer.
No job is too big or too small. They cover all mechanical services on automotive vehicles. They provide all types of machine work. Brake, flywheel, cylinder head resurfacing, hot tank, bushings pressed in… EVERYTHING.

Brought the head off my ol’ scout in to these guys with my brother the auto engineer. We both were impressed with the work. Great guys! I would especially recommend them if you have an American Motors 6 cyl. engine like a jeep or rambler.

My husband and I have been going to G&R ever since it opened 20+ years ago. Luis runs a completely honest, knowledgeable and efficient shop; ethics and work are completely trustworthy.
Luis has been keeping my 2002 Camry running since I bought it in 2003. When it wouldn’t start this week, my husband changed the battery and replaced the connectors. When it still didn’t start, we had it towed from our home in Glendale to G&R, where Luis diagnosed a faulty starter and replaced it in one day. The price was entirely reasonable, and once again, my car runs beautifully!

I went to G&R just from the reviews here. These guys did not disappoint! I had to get a lot of work on my car before my trip up to the Northwest and I didn’t have that much time to get all the work done. Luis and his guys came thru with flying colors, not only did they get my car fixed in time, the work was amazing and my car runs like it’s brand new! These guys are legit and their work will speak for itself!

G&R Auto is the best auto shop in the Eagle Rock/​Pasadena area. They are very honest and will let you know if the other quote you got is BS. I like to do work on my car myself when is it something relatively straight forward. Recently got some pretty major work done for 60% of what some other shop quoted. Also, Luis (owner/​operator) showed me why my check engine light was on and showed me why cylinder #2 is misfiring (2006 GTI MKV). Now, I save an additional $ 80+ for labor by replacing my own ignition coils and spark plugs (2 – 3 hrs labor)! Thank you G&R!

These guys are engine specialists, if you have a problem with your engine here is the place. I had a Pontiac Aztek with what I suspected was upper intake manifold gasket failure, Luis and his team diagnosed just this and ruled out head gasket failure. This GM engine is used in a lot of vehicles and this is a common failure, Luis even knows the better gasket company to order replacements from, knew to replace the lower gasket since they had dug that deep into the engine anyway and didn’t try to fix anything that wasn’t broke.
The shop is small and they get a lot of work but so what if it took two weeks, I wasn’t in a rush, you don’t want to rush a job like this you want it done right. I wouldn’t trouble these guys with small stuff like an oil change or brake pad replacement; this is where you go when you need valves/​cylinders/​rings or buried gaskets fixed. My confidence was elevated I had made a good shop choice when I walked in and every mechanic is either elbows deep in an engine rebuild or dropping an engine. Domestic or foreign (I also have a toyota) I would trust them again.

Wow! Can’t believe there aren’t more Unilocal for these guys (in fact, I thought I reviewed them about 6 months ago — maybe it was another review site?).
Anyway, they are awesome. Luis really bent over backwards to help us out on Subaru engine problem. He only did what was necessary, but effective. He was systematic in trying to rule out possible causes of the problem. And he did a great job on the car.
I was actually referred to them by another mechanic who was extremely busy when we needed the work done. He made it clear that Luis was trustworthy and great at what he does.
If you live in Eagle Rock or the surrounding area, give Luis your business. You will be glad that you did. After all, how many people can actually say that they trust their mechanic? I do.

These guys are awesome. Luis is the owner (dad) and they were recommended by some friends. A real repair shop and my car Toyota Echo 2000 is running great– not fancy, but great, friendly service and if you are a gabacho, you can practica su espanol. I’ve been to all the Jiffy Lubes in 90 041 – 2 and these guys deserve a high Unilocal.
