Hands down the best soondae you can find: I just tried soondae in Korea and thought eighth street soondae was way better. I would recommend the soondae soup, and the soondae plate. My wife also likes the fish dishes and praises the kimchi stew. The place gets packed sometimes but it’s totally worth the wait.

Parking is ridiculous. Soodae was under-seasoned and dry. Probably a one off but will try again someday.

!! Best soondae I’ve ever had in my life! The prices are reasonable and tastes so so good! Came here with the sister and left so satisfied. **Recommend –Soondae Combo(feeds 2 people) — a plate of mixed soondae + liver + ears I believe with two smal soondae soups, but got only soondae plate(blood sausage) since we’re not much of a fan unless the ears in the soup.(sounds a little scary describing each part here ^^) Their side dishes were all tasty and I love the lettuce salad they give you. Used to getting the Chive Kimchi style in spicy sauce(which helps take out the smell) in all soondae soup restaurants, but in this case it wasn’t even needed since there was no smell. Meet a friend there and she ordered just the soup which had more items inside the soup than mine that came with the combo. Can’t wait to go again and try everything on the menu.

My co-worker and I stumbled upon Eighth Street Soondae as we were searching for food in this part of town at lunch on a work break. There was NOTHING nearby and this was our only option. We were lucky to find it, though, because this place was a legit delicious hole-in-the-wall. I got the kimchi stew which was phenomenal but way too hot to eat in my limited lunch time. My friend ordered the cold soy milk and noodles, which looked appealing, but was completely unappetizing. It is most likely an acquired taste type food, but for both my friend and I, it was pretty awful — hence the lessened rating. Service was pretty good. The décor is minimal and the place may not be the cleanest, but I think that fits into it being a quick and affordable lunch option in this area.

Got me my soondae fix last night delivered via rushorder. Blood sausage isn’t really the most appetizing thing ever, but if you were going to give it a try, this restaurant is the place to try it. We ordered the spicy stir fried soondae and the soondae soup. Both really hit the spot. With a bigger group, I’d suggest ordering the soondae combo so you can try a bit of everything.

They have a few choice of dishes and that’s the great part of this place. And they serve very basic style of Soondae. There is no rice Soondae or Soondae in shabu pot, you can only have the basic soup but it’s very good. And I think this place has the most similar taste of Soondae from Korea.

There aren’t very many soondae restaurants in Ktown, or there aren’t many good ones that I’ve come across. I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid, and my parents(both who are very picky about quality and taste) always come here. They’re side dishes are fresh and good~ especially the kkak doo gee — so bomb! The con is that parking sucks. It’s small cramped lot shared by multiple stores in the plaza, so there is a lot of double parking… unless you get lucky and come when it’s not crowded.

Store seems like a carry out(which they get a lot of orders) when you walk in and then you see the seating area in the back. Good clean simple menu with good portions and a great clean taste. I do not care for the other innards the plate comes with but my husband says its good. The soondae itself is amazing. They gave my kids small bowls of their white broth and were very attentive to our needs. I would definitely go again.

The best soondae in K-town. My family loves soondae and we literally tried every soondae in k town and 8th street soondae is our favorite place to go to when we crave some korean soondae. My family’s favorite is #1 combo and it is a huge portion and feeds everyone in my family. Their kimchi is really amazing as well. Parking is always a challenge and the interior is not fancy at all but they have the best soondae!

The best soondaeguk in ktown hands down! My parents and I have been coming here for over five years. It’s a hole in the wall restaurant, but this place does get quite busy during lunch and dinner hours. We always order soondae guk. Their kimchi is very good as well. My mom always asks for more kimchi when she eats here. The workers are friendly. The owner lady(older Korean) usually works at the register area. It seems like her son and her daughter-in-law help out more these days(I am glad!) Tip: Parking sucks here most of the time!!! The lot is pretty small and there is just one entrance/exit from one side of the lot. They don’t have valet. It gets frustrating sometimes as people park behind your car so you have to go find people to get your car out. Or sometimes you get interrupted to move your car so people can get their cars out. Just avoid rush hours. The parking is not too bad after 2pm(but come before kids finish school– there is a charter school next to this building now, so cars line up after school on 8th st to pick up their children).

Great Soondae. It’s one of those places people would just pass by but it’s a hidden treasure. Get the Soondae combo four of us went and they gave us not only extra bowls but with extra soup in it. Great service. ANDTHEREASONWHY I AMPOSTING. AMAZINGKOREANAHJUMMAS(LADIES) WORKHERE. I left the restaurant with my Invisalign(plastic retainers) in the napkin. But as I was driving, I realized I had forgotten so I called to ask if they had seen it. Then I raced back to the restaurant and as soon as there was an isolate cart full of leftover food and used napkins and a pair of disposable gloves. The lady came up to me and told me that she just cleaned the table up but couldn’t find my Invisalign so she kindlytold me to use the gloves to dig through to see if I could find it. And after minutes of digging vigorously through the cart with my friend, lo and behold, I see kimchi-stained plastic retainers. WOOHOO! So I yelled, I FOUNDIT. And all the Ahjummas celebrated with me, smiling and patting my back. I hugged them, thanking them. I am so thankful for these workers. I’m sure the reason why their food is extra good is because the people serving and making the food are warm-hearted

Wow. Very impressed! Usually go to Western soondae but it was closed so decided to try here. The soup is ONPOINT. The only bad thing is the parking and it’s not very big inside. No valet parking. The owner is a bit older by the cashier, doesn’t look too happy tho. Got #1 combo Large $ 19.99 — shared it with mom and bro, it made us all full even though we shared. Our waitress knew we were sharing so she gave a little extra soup for service, very nice! Next time we’ll ask for extra rice and maybe extra soup on the side to complete the meal to share. Other than that, it was enough for 3 people and the salad was pretty good too! The unique thing about this place is that they use utensils like home. Cups are old glass cups and banchan dishes plates are the ones Koreans use at home lol. Even the sliver spoons and chopsticks. New soondae place for our family :)

This is what I could call one the the gems of Koreatown. This hole in the wall restaurant in my opinion has the best soondae in Koreatown. Unfortunately, if you cant read Korean, this place is a bit hard to find because the sign is only in Korean but I guess its just that way because the majority of customers here are Korean and blood sausage is not really known outside of the community. It is not easy to find a great Soondae place but this place definitely hit the spot. Its not really easy to find and parking could be a bit of a pain. Usually I don’t park in the lot and would park on Hoover or Francis. The restaurant is definitely very plain in appearance and even pretty small. The waitresses here are very friendly and definitely the old school Korean types, which I liked a lot. At one time I remember trying to order a large soondae combo plate and 2 soondaegooks for two people and the waitress simply looked at us and told us that we would not finish it and suggested we stick to a smaller combo plate instead if I want the soup. The food was very good with the soondae fresh and warm and even with a smaller plate the portions were very generous. The soondaegook was also very good and only gets better when you use the salt and pepper that is provided on the table. There was so much flavor to the food that I always bring my friends here whenever necessary. The experience here is always awesome especially for those who miss the old school Korean restaurant environment. It might seem a bit intimidating for those who are not Korean but trust me, if you do feel adventurous and want to try some good traditional Korean soondae, this is the place to go.

Had the soon Dae Gook which was pretty good but thought it was either lol blend or lack of flavor. Need to go try the soon Dae itself though as that’s their specialty

My favorite soondae place in the Seattle area tragically closed sometime within the last year, so I knew I had to try seek out a soondae place while in LA for a long weekend. Soondae is a specialty dish that I had been eating since long before I knew what it was(blood sausage stuffed in intestines… gulp), so it’s probably not for the faint of heart. However, if you’re a fan, I highly recommend the Large Soondae Combo to share. SO good, and the seasoning was perfect. The spicy stir-fried soondae was not my favorite, but probably because it was so unlike the dish that I am used to eating. The version here is a bit more watery with a tteokbokki(spicy rice cake) sauce, and not as «stir-fried», in my opinion. However, my dad preferred this version, so to each their own.

I would say this place makes the best soondae in los angeles proper but it isnt the cleanest looking. There were flies everywhere and not a lot of ventilation. However if you can sacrifice cleanliness for the taste of soondae then come here!

In terms of soondae, this place is as good as it gets. My friends and I have the odd craving for soondae every now and then and have tried it all over KTown. If we can’t go to Korea, this place is as good as it gets. The homemade soondae is solid and the perfect texture. The soondae soup is also optimally flavored. Unlike other places, they already flavor it for you, although you do get the option of adding your own finishing touches. The set-up reminded me of the homey Korean restaurants back in Korea. The waitresses were also amazingly nice and courteous. So glad to finally have a solid soondae places that I actually plan to revisit!

More like 3.5 stars… had to deduct half a star because the cleanliness of the restaurant is definitely questionable, if I need to fend off multiple well-fed fat looking flies during my meal. I got the soondae gook(korean blood sausage soup) for $ 8.25 and was just a tad bit disappointed in the soup flavor. It is my first time trying soondae gook, so perhaps I just haven’t acquired the love for it yet. I did really like the soondae in the soup, as it was piping hot and a way better texture than most soondae I’ve had in the past. There was also a generous amount of intestines in the soup, yummyyy :) Side dishes range from really good to mediocre; — Ssamjang w/hot peppers & white onion: 5⁄5 stars. Delicious flavor! I’m guessing it’s homemade because I’ve rarely eaten such yummy ssamjang. Dip some white onion in it and it really helps add a kick to the meal. — Bean sprouts(spicy): 5⁄5 stars. So fresh and flavor is perfect — Kimchi: 4⁄5 stars. On the sour side which was refreshing — Radish Kimchi: 3.5÷5 stars — Salad: 3⁄5 stars. Average salad. *Meal comes with yummy purple rice & barley tea* Hopefully I can venture back to try their soondae plate or noodles in cold soy milk broth! Small parking lot for the restaurant(free). PS. Korean blood sausage does NOT contain meat. Don’t order it and be angry there’s no meat in this sausage lol.
