Bonaventure Brewing Company

With several colleagues, went here for dinner but we were seriously disappointed in the service and some of the food. My kobe burger was grievously overcooked, and my fries were not well-​done, as I’d requested, but also were coated with pepper and red chili flakes. All the fries at the table had that topping, even the fish and chips. It was inedible. I asked for plain well-​done fries to replace them, and about 15 minutes after I finished my burger, plain NOT well-​done fries were delivered. Who puts hot chili pepper on every single order of French fries? The service was also disappointing. You don’t work in a hotel restaurant and then get annoyed when working people need separate checks! It took forever for us to order drinks, get drinks order food, get food, get corrected food, get check, get receipt. Clearly they need more staff and better trained staff. And someone needs to warn diners that Cajun stuff will be added to every single French fry.

This is the best bar in town I’ve been coming here for many years the pale ale is the best beer I’ve ever had here and the wings are delicious the best bar food I’ve ever tasted service is excellent very friendly very reasonable price

Best hidden bar in downtown la with great views friendly bar tenders and there food is delicious! Best brewery my BF loves the pale ale in town! Super fancy hotel as well!

We had a reservation for a party of 18. Upon arriving we were told they would only be able to split the bill into 4ths. Otherwise the computer would crash??? WHAT???
Our poor waitress tried her best to keep up and accommodate us. The restaurant was hardly filled but
It took over 2 hours to get our meals out to us.
One burger in particular was burned black and had raw bacon on it. :/​
I ordered a chimichurri skirt steak medium rare. It ironically came out after another one that was ordered medium well. And it was way overcooked. At that point we sent our meal back because I was OVER it!
COD fish was over cooked
Calamari appetizer was burned.
Overall very disappointed to have sat with my party for 3 hours only to return to my room hungry!
Our waitress brought 3 large sundaes out as «peace offerings» even though we were kind and gracious b/​c I know none of that was her fault.
The manager NEVER once came
By to see if everything was good. Even after he knew we had sent food back to the kitchen. He was bellied up at the bar when we left.
Definitely over priced and the chef has no clue how to cook.

SHORT AND TO THE POINT
Over the years, I’ve been a patron of Bonaventure Brewing Company on several work, as well as personal occasions. It’s been a place to welcome new employees, or bid a farewell gathering, holiday parties, or just after work drinks with friends and co-​workers. I’ve never really been a big fan. Their food is average, at best, libation selection limited, and the service is hit or miss, typically a miss after the delivery of food. On many occasions, several of our party attendees have had to flag down a staff member for our check.
Not a fan then, no need to return.

And the first OST (One Star Tuesday) of 2016 goes to Bonaventure Brewing Company!!!
I used to work across the street from the Bonaventure Hotel in DTLA, where BBC is located on the 4^th Floor. We would drop by here for beers, but generally not the food. On this occasion, I came here for a b’ness event on Tue, 12÷8÷15, for an organization with the initials NAW (Never Again WTF4). It was the worst event I have been to. First of all, I was instructed by NAW to park in valet at the hotel for $ 7. However, when I pulled up to the valet, there was no parking available at the foregoing rate. It would have cost me $ 15/​hour to park. FTS: Fuk That $hit!
Secondarily, there was initially only one bartender, so the line was slow. Nonetheless, when the second one arrived, she helped people who had not been waiting as long as me and others. Additionally, the complimentary wine they served for the event came from a box and tasted rancid — Major fukn fail on the part of BBC!
Lastly, there are generally appetizers at these events, but there were none. My New Year Resolution is to never come to one of these fukn NAW events again. They are so disorganized, and they bait & switch on you. In addition, BBC hasn’t changed a bit, and it should stand for Better Be Closed! They still suk a$$ in terms of service!!!

Such an Amzing Place to be if you don’t want to be around a big crowded place for lunch. Service is fast and staff is amazing. Friendly staff, and great varieties of beers! I miss the WIPEOUT IPA bring it back! BW! Late night menu is simple and highly affordable. Don’t be afraid to try this place day or night! Long live the ChimmiChurri Steak!

I went on a saturday nite 12÷5÷15. My only complaint was I was charged a tip for one drink and I didn’t notice it until I looked at my receipt at home. I tipped when I got the drink and I didn’t know a business could charge a tip as if that’s a fee Tips are complimentary Nope my other no no was drinking out of plastic cups but paid top dollar for a drink. I think what they did was illegal. I didn’t try the food. I also saw the server yell at a customer at the bar unsure what that as about but the gentleman never yelled at him The man was told by the manager after he complained about the bartender that he could go to another bar. Not the best response about the service he received. I won’t be back. I hadn’t been in bonaventure in years. Last time I was there a place called Fantasia was there LOVED THAT PLACE NOT THIS ONE Good luck people

This place is ok. Really, that’s all I have to say. Their signature strawberry blonde beer is a little too sweet for my taste. If you like sweet beers or ciders, it’s perfect. Just be careful about drinking four or five of them like cups of juice. Before you know it you’ll make regrettable decisions. Trust me. I have.

Unfortunately, all of the choices in the Westin Bonaventure are either cheap and questionable with rude employees (see: 4^th floor fast food places) or very expensive. I decided to «splurge» on a veggie burger during my stay here and go pick it up to bring back to my room.
I called to ask what the base of the burger was and spoke with Amanda… I was told it was actually a portobello burger. Weird, I would think the menu would then say portobello burger but okay whatever. I ordered it with a caesar salad as the side.
Went to pick it up exactly 20min later, as instructed. Burger is cold and it’s with fries (also cold and hardening). I told the bartender (Harry) and he was nice enough to rush a side caesar salad for me and let me keep the fries. That’s the reason for the extra star, he was very nice and prompt.
By the time i got to my room — the fries were REALLY hard and cold — but whatever i didn’t want them anyways. And my portobello burger? Nope, just a veggie burger. Looks like the ones I’ve bought at the grocery store in the past. Caesar dressing was WAY too fishy and i picked out a few pieces of anchovie which made me gag. But I suppose that’s just personal preference as I know anchovies are an ingredient (in some form) in most caesar dressings.
ALL in all… uninformed person taking phone orders overpriced food, and not a good to-​go option.
I can’t speak for the happy hour, the beer, or the eat-​in experience. I will say the nachos ordered by some guys at the bar looked quite good and their happy hour prices aren’t half bad for beer and apps.
My experience put me out $ 16 for a really lame meal. No bueno.

No! No! And NO! This is no longer the girls’ lunch hang out spot. Management changed a few years ago and things went completely downhill. Food options changed, the taste changed, and drinks were no longer desirable. My last visit was so unpleasant, my girls and I left before ordering food. Most of the items we usually ordered were no longer on the menu. The manager came to our table and inquired about our dissatisfaction. She was apologetic and gave us a $ 25 gift card due to the unsatisfactory changes. Needless to say, the gift card has not been used yet!
I will say that this place USED to be the prime hang out and club spot during my early 20’s and college years. Hopefully, it can gain some of its notoriety back.

During our trip to LA, we’ve decided to have dinner at one of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel higher end restaurants. For whatever reason, we’ve lowered our so-​called «standards» and settled into the Bonaventure Brewing Company. Wanting to feel «important», we decided to sit in their outdoor patio.
Looking at the menu, I usually believe that if dining at a restaurant that serves traditional American food, the safest bet is to order a menu item that can’t go wrong.
Suffice to say that the American Kobe Burger I ordered was a big disappointment. What was supposed to be cooked medium rare was more medium done, dry and tasteless. Fortunately, the Artichoke Spinach Dip Bruschetta appetizer along with the Cilantro Chicken and Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi entrees made up for the disappointment.
The service was very attentive and the patio atmosphere was very relaxing with views of the area.
I would have given the Bonaventure Brewing Company 3.5 to four stars if the Kobe burger was cooked as I wanted. I feel that three stars is about right.

This Brewing company is located in the Westin hotel in Pasadena. The décor is shotty and inexpensive. Sat in the bar at 520pm and waited 20 minutes before my order was taken. The server was nice and had a low voice that did not carry in a loud environment.
I ordered off the happy hour menu so can’t complain that the food was unimpressive. The mushrooms were dry and crispy on the bottom. Normally anything with cream cheese and bacon in it taste great. Not these mushrooms. the sliders had cheese meat and onions on them, nothing fancy. I did not try the beer. should have but have to work tomorrow. Service is really slow. Just now asked if I wanted anything else and it is 630pm. Not worth a visit if you are a local or visting Pasadena. pretty disappointed.
Watch the bill as well. The bill included a price difference from what was on the menu. My tab was 2.00 more than the pricing on the menu. Not a big deal if I would have enjoyed my meal and service would have been better. The problem period is they did not correct the charge and that is just bad business. I should not have to tell them to correct it once the server was made aware of the error. Ethically, they should have corrected the bill and then apologize for the mistake. Not apologize and do nothing.
Still steamed about the poor service and the fact that management doesn’t care what happens to customers. Well, tomorrow is another day and a chance to visit a different restaurant.

Went here for happy hour tonight, good drinks and good apps! Friendly service and kind staff. They offered to change the TV for me to watch the game I wanted to see.
It’s a little tricky to find because it’s inside the Westin and not noticeable from the street. Happy hour is a great deal with lots of good apps for only $ 5. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t been yet.

Fun place to meet up with friends. Beer prices are beyond reasonable. Go for the pitchers of beer, absolutely can’t go wrong with their prices. Service was great. We sat outside and enjoyed the early evening breeze. Absolutely lovely. Of course, sharing the experience with wonderful friends only makes it more of a great time!
I can’t comment on the food, as we only stopped in for a few drinks. Walk on over the bridge and check out Border Grill followed by Dublins for a late nightcap. Lots of fun all within walking distance.

Great drinks with a great view of the city. Really nice outdoor patio. Hidden gem within the heart of LA. It’s challenging to find parking but once you’re in expect to have a good time. During the week they offer some great drink specials… however this spot can be pricey on the weekends or outside of happy hour hours.

Was in La this past weekend and staying at the Bonaventure for the night. When I looked at the restaurant list I couldn’t believe that there was a brewery in our hotel! Also that is doesn’t close to 0100 in the morning on weekends. I was in heaven!
We actually visited this place twice in the same night. For a drink on the patio for happy hour and a drink before retiring to our room at the end of the night. Their IPA was really good. I didn’t have a chance to try the other beers but they only had a few offering at the time. I would have liked to try more. Also I didn’t try any of the food so I can only rate the, on the patio and IPA that I had. From what I experienced this place is really good. Other Unilocal reviews rate the food good so it has to be.lol.
I really enjoyed the patio on the roof. There is nice grass areas around up there and I was able to walk around there with my beer. Had a lot of freedom up there and even saw a weeding going at the same time.
Overall I think I’ll always choose the Bonaventure when I stay in LA. The hotel is amazing, and gets gets a little bit better with its on brewery!

I stopped in Bonaventure Brewing Company to grab a beer as I waited for an Über reservation to arrive. I was lucky enough to hit happy hour (3:30−6:30pm weeknights) and score a $ 4.00 pint of Racer 5 IPA as I waited for my ride to arrive. I wondered around a bit and found myself outside on their incredible patio facing the DTLA skyline wishing I had more time to relax and take in the surrounding area and perhaps order some of the very reasonably priced appetizers on their Happy Hour menu.
Although I cannot yet attest to the food, the ambiance, service and Happy Hour pricing more than enticed me to return for another visit next time I find myself downtown.

Service and Food!!! With the perks of a pimp daddy hotel comes pimp daddy food and service at an affordable rate.
Bonaventure Brewing Co (BBC) has kick arse happy hour. Unfortunately I do not remember how much things costs except for beer. Porter runs $ 6 per shot.
Porter not bad at all. it is run of the mill, kinda tastes like BJ’s Porter.
Food:
Nachos — nice big chips. thumbs up.
Calimari — very yummy. thumbs and toes up.
Chicken wings — bleh. nothing especial #fail
Chicken tenders (boneless wings) — bleeeeeeeh. sucks. #doublefail
Sliders (mini burgers) — damn gina~!!! two thumbs up, two toes up with a strong «DAMNNN GINA!!!» shout out. These little fu*ks were super bomb. loved em. Got a 2^nd round, then went to other tables and stole the leftover sliders (company happy hour for Tax Dept).
Might venture here more often. TBD.

This is a local restaurant close to my job and so I’ve been here a few times for convenience
Service has always been good. Staff is nice and pleasant.
The more important part I dare say is the food. Which is like playing roulette, you never quite know what to expect. After today, I realized that I shouldn’t venture out and explore. Stick with what’s worked.
Today I tried the cracked pepper salmon which sounded amazing when I ordered it. Salmon, fresh vegetables, mashed potatoes. What they didn’t tell you is everything is fried with a pound of oil. The food was extremely greasy. Even the beautiful fresh broccoli and carrots were drenched in oiliness. I can handle some oil, but this was an entirely different level. What surprised me though is that the waitress didn’t question my plate seeing how more than half my meal was still on it when she took it away. Strange…
What does work are their salads. Definitely light and satisfying. Not the best I’ve had but it works for lunch.
Sandwiches, I haven’t loved them. Bread a bit too dry for my liking and not enough of the meat/​chicken
I wouldn’t go out of NY way to come here to eat but if you’re staying at the hotel, or nearby and need to choose somewhere at the Bonaventure hotel, this would be the better of the options
