Even though they were not able to recover my data (severe platter damage), these guys run a tight and professional operation. I was handled with care from start to finish: swift drop-​off, great status updates, etc. If I have another HD fail, I’ll be coming here again without hesitation.

Speedily responded to several weary and desperate emails prior to dropping off drives. Edger explained the process clearly during drop off of drives, easing our nervousness. Emails were sent keeping us up to date about the different data recovery processes. Almost 5 TB and only three days later we picked up our drives and our data. No surprise charges/​fees. Exceptional!

Unfortunately, my second time needling this service. Fortunately, they were successful both times. I really need to back up my stuff more often. Nice to know there’s a place I can rely on!

I was in desperation mode when I heard about $ 300 Data Recovery. All my client files (AutoCAD drawings and Sketchup drawings), along with many years of family photos were on my external hard drive when it hit the floor while running. I learned that because it was running when it the floor that it would be $ 500, because it’s harder to recover, but that was still less money than I had been quoted by two other places. $ 300 Data was my last prayer. They came through and were able to recover 99% of my files. I cannot tell you the relief I had when I received an email from them saying they had recovered most of the files. Happy Dance! I had a drive fail with a lot of important data on it. First, I took it to another highly-​rated place — Platinum Data Recovery. They quoted me $ 1400 for the recovery. After waking up from passing out, I picked up the drive and took it to $ 300 Data Recovery for a second opinion. They diagnosed the problem as 1 of 8 heads having gone bad and were able to recover ⁷⁄₈ of my data by rewriting the firmware and bypassing that head. But the data I got was raw (unlabeled and unorganized) and a lot of it was corrupted, so I was pretty bummed. So after speaking with Brian, he agreed to try again at no additional cost with a donor drive to recover that last ¹⁄₈ of data. He even located a suitable donor drive for me which I purchased and brought to him. They repeated the recovery with the donor drive and I got ALL of my data. For $ 300 plus the cost of the donor drive (which was $ 180). $ 480 for a full recovery vs $ 1400 from Platinum. I think that deserves 5 stars. This place has great customer service and really went above and beyond on my recovery.

All was lost. I was literally loosing my mind because everything I own was on this one WD drive from hell! Satan himself must’ve possessed this drive because it nearly killed me. I had Western Digital 500Gb external hard drive that just stopped working. All my quicken finances and years pictures and videos that were irreplaceable were gone. I was in panic mode. I knew better, I should’ve had a back up system, but I didn’t. I looked online for a miracle. One company quoted $ 1200 and I would need to ship it so Wisconsin!

I cannot say enough good things about this company. Their staff are professional, knowledgeable and polite. They explain exactly what you can expect, and they delivered in Stellar fashion. Two other companies told me they couldn’t recover my data. $ 300 data recovery had it in four and a half hours! I’ve given their name and number to several clients and Friends.

My old external hard drive was loaded with 8 years of documents, pictures, and videos and it unfortunately died on me recently. I called a few different data recovery places and even had it diagnosed at one, which quoted me a minimum of $ 1200 to successfully recover my information. Being stuck with the decision to either pay that crazy fee or lose my data forever, I gave $ 300 Data Recovery a shot instead — and I’m SO GLAD that I did! They were very professional, true to their name, and gave me frequent updates throughout the process. What looked like it was going to cost me a grand or more ended up being a fraction of that. Data recovery services are a dime a dozen. $ 300 data recovery services are pretty rare. Of course, if your hard drive and hard drive ailment doesn’t fit into a certain criteria, it will not be $ 300. But «$ 300 Data Recovery For Internal SATA Drives Under 2TB that are not part of a RAID or Encypted and lacking any physical damage to the discs themselves» doesn’t really have the same ring to it. It should be noted, however, that it’s very easy to shoot prices up to 4 figures.
So it is a good deal?
It depends on how savvy you are. If you accidentally deleted a folder and can restore deleted files adeptly using Recuva, then no, of course not. If you can troubleshoot a SATA drive with a faulty USB enclosure, then you’ll do that yourself.
Me? I had the firmware become corrupt on a 3TB disc. I could probably fix that myself, but my entry into advanced file recovery was not worth risking files, some of which weren’t backed up. So $ 500 or so was worth it for me.
My experiences with them were initially a little frustrating, as they recovered about 10% of my files and proclaimed «success!». But I told them to dig a bit deeper, and after a week, they sent me a much more complete file list. Some of the files were corrupted, which shouldn’t have happened considering that there was no physical damage to the disk itself. But I also don’t expect someone to spend 72 hours monitoring raw data for $ 500. So I’m not complaining. The folder tree is kind of horrid, as I tend to organize files by date. That’s all gone now, but MY FILES WERE (mostly) RESTORED, and that’s good. They did their job, and did it for a reasonable price.
If you are positive that your drive has PHYSICAL damage to the disc, then $ 300 is going to be a mere fantasy. To my knowledge, this company does not actually have a clean room, and outsources that work to a partner. If your drive is entering a clean room, you should be shopping recovery services like you would shop dealers for a car, because a few days of research can save you thousands of dollars. You’ll want an estimate in writing, of course, before agreeing to any clean room services or sending your drive out.
So, long story short, you get what you pay for. But a lot of people send their drives to a much more advanced recovery company for no reason, which is about as financially efficient as going to the ER for a rash that has been bugging you. If you have REALLY important files, not like, irreplaceable photos, but data that your company relies on for existence, then you should probably not be looking for a deal to begin with.
Good work. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Probably the easiest and cheapest way you’re going to get those files restored without spending a day of your life shopping around.

Despite a scammy online presence, these guys are good. The lead tech Brian is responsive and knows his stuff. They recovered a failing western digital drive of mine with hardware encryption that other guys could not save.

This place is great. The staff are knowledgeable and you can’t beat the fact that they were able to recover all of my crucial video data from a crashed hard drive in the middle of a project. The only demerit is that I had to pay an additional $ 100 because my hard drive was USB 3.0, something that is not advertised in the name! That aside, I’d definitely recommend it to a friend or anyone else who needs their services.

Well this was previously a bad review, but as every business should use Unilocal for good $ 300 data repair went above, and beyond. I had an imperfect visit. There was a miscommunication as to the recovery costs. I posted my review of the events, and was contacted that night about a resolution and an outpouring of apologies. I couldn’t be happier. They did indeed recover my data had an open and ongoing dialogue as to the status of the repair.
I couldn’t be happier with how this business treated me, and my unique situation. I hope I never need them again but if I do I’ll surely be back. Thank you so much to the $ 300 data team!

Say no more… go no other place but these people! Other places were quoting thousands. But $ 300 Dollar is for real. I ended up spending $ 550 becasue I asked for priority service.
My story
I dropped my Macbook and the brand new hard drive stopped working (clicking) as I was about to do a back up of 6 hours of video files I just recorded for a project.
What they did
I paid extra for express service and within 4 days (including weekend) an external drive arrived in the mail. Even though they said they were only able safely recover half of my data, they put the damaged files in a fold. BUT I opened the files and I was able to RECOVER IT ALL

They are the real thing! Excellent service and recovered all my data. They keep you informed with daily emails updating you on progress. Highly recommended! No surprise fees.

Late last Thursday, my hard drive died. I poked around on the internet a bit and found them. I thought «Surely this is too good to be true!» But it wasn’t.
I mailed them my drive on Monday afternoon. They received it on Tuesday. A stream of informative and timely E-​mail exchanges began. The E-​mails updated me on the status of the work on the drive.
On Thursday, I was informed that they had recovered 100% of the user data from my drive!!!

I found this company on Unilocal because I was looking for help recovering data from my external hard drive. I called ahead of time and drove over 1.5 hours to see them. When I arrived the girl at the front told me that because of the brand of the hard drive I have they «have» to charge me $ 500 to recover my data. This was never mentioned by the person I spoke with on the phone. She claimed that this is an exception and won’t honor the advertised price (it’s in their store name for God sake!). Considering that the brand of hard drive I have (western Digital) is very common they should mention it before I made the drive to their store. Very deceptive practice and highly disappointing for someone who went to them after reading all the good reviews on Unilocal.All Unilocal users should be aware of this company’s misleading marketing practice.
This is an update in response to the owner: he claims that a few models of hard drives takes more work, therefore he has to charge more; the problem is that WD is hardly a minor brand so this issue must come up A LOT. Despite the fact that I called right after reading about them on Unilocal (the reason why I didn’t see their website with all the so called correct pricing information) these guys go out of their way to keep you uninformed until you get to their door — in my case it took almost two hours. The girl at the counter also had an uncaring attitude as she told me it’s too bad she can’t even adjust the price to acknowledge the oversight. This company cares about one thing — taking your money using the bait and switch trick.

$ 300 Data Recovery is an excellent service provider. I’d been thinking of backing up my data but procrastinated ’til of course, the worst occurred, my drive crashed before I had any back-​up in place. So, I tried a DIY Slave Drive attempt of recovery to no avail. I then went to several locations to inquire about data recovery. One national chain had quoted around $ 750 at minimum, with no guarantees of any data being recovered, and they were so kind ‘tho as to refer me to another data recovery company locally which they’d said should be in the $ 100 or more range, but when I brought it in, I was given an estimate between $ 300-​$ 1,500, and then after the evaluation, quoted $ 1,245 as the price. That price seemed too high for me based on how I valued my lost data. Sure, to many, their data could be between worthless and priceless, so the value of data is pretty subjective to the individual. Well, I declined the recovery in search of another solution…
…that’s where I found $ 300 Data Recovery !!!
The name does indeed say it all. It was $ 300 (and if you do a Unilocal Check In, you can get a $ 10 discount too!) with no hidden fees or upcharges in my case.
I brought in my own «Transfer Drive» (you can get one from them for $ 100 or buy your own, generally speaking you can find one at Costco or Sam’s Club for $ 50 – 75 for 1TB and if you needed 2TB it’s still under $ 100). $ 300 Data Recovery provides the option to buy a transfer drive from them, a quality name brand as a customer convenience and courtesy and never did they try to push or sell me one, so they’re very honorable in that regard. They in fact encourage you bring your own drive in.
I was told from the start everything to temper my expectations and let me know the process of if they were able to or not able to recover the data and in a worst case scenario if the data I wanted wasn’t able to be recovered, the fee would either be $ 0 or $ 100 if some but not all data was recovered but declined to transfer, I believe. You can read everything on their website.
They were able to receive my drive (I hand delivered it not trusting the postal system and it’s a worthwhile drive), diagnose it, recover the data, and transfer the data with great communication for approvals and updates all along the way, within the week (a few days to complete).
Unfortunately, one cluster of files seemed to be missing despite all sectors and data having said to be recovered at the 99%+ mark. I inquired about my problem, and they offered to take another look at the original damaged hard drive, and were subsequently able to recover what I was looking for in their 2^nd attempt after I’d given them more guidance on what I was looking for specifically, which they did at no additional charge. They were able to do this in a matter of a few days as well.
Their communication is pristine, it’s prompt by email (and they do take calls too), confirming everything in writing. The staff who works here are very knowledgeable, as well as very friendly.
Although $ 300 is still a lot of money, but in the world of data recovery, if you need the service, I believe this is the place to go to. It’s one of these places I hope never to go to again :) and will be vigilant about backing up my data from today on forward, but if I ever were faced with a data emergency, I can be assured that $ 300 Data Recovery would be the 1^st place I’d come to knowing how reputable they were, trustworthy they are, and fair their pricing is.
They service nationwide by mail, I’m fortunate to live in the So Cal Los Angeles area, so it’s an easy drive to visit and pick up in person.
The storefront is located in an outdoor strip mall of sort that shares business space with a Pizzeria, Japanese Restaurant, Comic Book Store, Drone Shop and other businesses. $ 300 Data is located on the 2^nd floor you can see from the parking lot. The storefront itself isn’t impressive per se, it’s rather small, with mainly a reception area as well as some displayed examples of damaged computer parts, but despite the low key appearance, they TCOB and get the job done very professionally.
