Farzana’s Hair Design & Make-up Artistry

Farzana, thank you for my beautiful straight hair! I had the I-​Straight permanent hair straightening and the results are exactly what I was hoping for. My ugly, thick wave is gone, so happy to bury my straightening iron in the back of my closet. Farzana is very talented and has a lovely, welcoming salon, I will be back.

Farzana did a great job for me with the Brazilian Blowout. My hair looks terrific, and she was very friendly and helpful, obviously extremely knowledgeable about hair and how to handle different types of issues. Plus she charged less than many do for the blowout. I’ll definitely be back!

I only got my hair done this morning so this review may be a bit premature, but I absolutely love my hair. I got the Brazilian Blowout treatment done and my hair has never looked better. I have very curly hair which I have ombré’d with a lot of blonde in my naturally dark brown hair so it’s fairly damaged and when I usually do my hair it looks very dry and fried at the ends because of the blonde but after this treatment it looks silky and healthy! Farzana does amazing work and is so sweet! I’m interested to see how long this lasts but she told me about 3 months so I’m hoping it stays this great! I also uploaded two pictures as well for proof! I will definitely be coming back to her for any other needs I have with my hair!

Farzanah gave me a great hair cut! My hair is curly so I was not sure how it will end up but it looked great after all! Highly recommended, I will for sure visit her again.

Farzana is absolutely incredible! She did my hair for my wedding, and it was amazing… I felt great in it all evening and I got so many compliments. It also stayed perfectly the whole night! Farzana helped come up with the design and had lots of great suggestions since I wasn’t sure what I wanted when I went in. She really listened to what I wanted and helped me find a hair style that was fancy and fun for the wedding but that also reflected my personality. I would recommend anybody go to her when they need a special up-​do. You won’t find better!

This is an over due review. I visited her for a hair do for a special occasion in March 2015. She did a wonderful job. I received so many compliments for my hair. I was very comfortable with her as she is very friendly, listens to you very patiently and does exactly what you want. I needed some flowers for my hairdo which she willingly bought for me before i reached there, very nice jesture on her part. Throughout when she was working on my hair i felt she knows her job thoroughly and is an expeienced hair stylist. There are not enough words to thank her I am glad I made the right choice by choosing her for my special occasion hairdo. She gave me her complete attention. I would definitely recommend her to my friends and would come back to her. THANKS ONCE AGAIN FARZANA.

Farzana is a fabulous hair dresser, she cuts exactly what I want and makes me feel great. I recently got my bangs done, came home and realized it wasn’t exactly what I wanted, so I came back the next day and she fixed them free of charge. I always look forward to getting my hair done.

Farzana is the best hair stylist I have ever been to, hands down. I learned the hard way that I would never let anyone touch my hair except for her. I have been going to her since I was 13 years old, and took a brief hiatus when I moved for college. During that time, I searched for someone half as good as her and failed. Either they cut my layers too short, left them too long, or simply didn’t listen to what I wanted. The only person who know who to cut my unmanageable and thick hair is Farzana. In fact, I have named my haircut «The Farzana» as no one can duplicate it! I will continue to make the trip up to NorCal from San Diego to get my hair done with a quality and experienced stylist!

I have a been a customer of Farzana for over 10 years now. And I can say she is absolutely fabulous ! My hair is long, fine and curly. It had been been a nightmare to style prior to me working with Farzana. I was only able to have nice defined curls or straight hair for short periods of times before humidity ruined everything. At first, Farzana suggested straightening treatments. And I was a bit hesitant because I had heard of damaging effects. But she tried it and it worked out beautifully. No split ends, no hair loss or any of that. I got my hair straightened about twice a year for 6 years. And then I no longer wanted the pin straight look. And wanted to have more flexibility with my hair. So Farzana suggested keratin treatments. Now I get those every 3 months and I stopped the straightening. My hair is slightly wavy and looks natural. Also grey hair has caught up with me. So I get highlights too with Farzana. My hair is really manageable and healthy. No complaints. And Farzana provides a great service with flexible scheduling and just personalized attention. Highly recommend her !

I got my Keratin treatment from Farzana about 3 months back. When i called her to discuss the types of options available, she was very patient in explaining even though i am not her customer yet. That impressed me and I decided to get my keratin from her. When I walked into her salon she was extremely friendly and accomodating. She handled my hair with care (unfortunately many stylists are very rough). She explained the process as she was doing. I really liked the service and I definitely recommend her.

Farzana straightened my hair for the second time last Tuesday. I have shoulder length, fine, curly blond hair that has been damaged by swimming in a chlorinated pool. I was told by several other stylists that I couldn’t have my hair straightened because it was too damaged and would break. I was desperate to have it straightened because I’m active and have young kids. I end up spending way too much time fussing with it so that it doesn’t look frizzy and damaged.
Farzana has straightened my hair twice, first temporarily using a Keratin Protein treatment, then on Tuesday she permanently straightened my hair. Both times my hair has turned out perfectly! …Straight but not flat, soft, silky and glossy. Better than I ever thought was possible. I attribute it to Farzana’s experience and her use of the very best hair products to ensure great results.
I have young kids and have zero time to fuss around with my hair on a daily basis. I love the way Farzana listens to me and delivers a hairstyle that works for me. Both times I have gone to her she has trimmed and shaped my hair into an easy-​to-​take care-​of-​style. Now instead of spending ½ to an hour a day fussing with it just to prevent it from looking awful, I simply wash and go … and it looks fabulous!

I found Farzana’s salon through a Living Social deal for a Brazilian Blowout and was so pleased with the experience and results. Farzana’s partner, Julieta, did my hair and did a fantastic job. Both ladies were so sweet, friendly, knowledgeable, and great listeners. They offer multiple treatments similar to BB and they have a ton of product from brands such as Brazlian Blowout, Aquage, and Pravana. I will not only be coming back for my BB, but will also be coming back for color/​cut. I’ve already passed out business cards to multiple colleagues of mine who have all complimented my results! Oh– the location is fantastic too! Downtown Los Altos, next door to Chase bank and walking distance to all of the cute boutiques and cafes on Main Street.

I had such a good time getting my hair done here! Frazana knew exactly how to style my hair and even stayed late on NYE to do my up do. I can’t wait to go back again. Thank you, thank you I had a great time!

SO very happy to have found Farzana! We needed a new stylist to do a Brazillain Blowout for my daughter and after reviewing Unilocal, we decided to try Farazana. She immediately returned my call and worked around our schedule to make it convenient for my daughter.
Farzana knew exactly what product and technique to use for my daughter who has pretty coarse hair (bi-​racial). The process took a lot less time than before and the treatment lasted just as long. Her hair is healthy and growing while maintaining the long straight look she’s been wanting. We have been back two more times for the same treatment with wonderful results. We would not considered going anywhere else again!
Farzana also did my daughter’s hair for prom and the result was exactly what she was hoping for — special and elegant but not overdone. She really listened to my daughter and did not try to do something that Farzana thought would be good, but exactly what my daughter wanted.
Next, it was my turn. I have tried for years to get a layered haircut but every time, it came out choppy, as if a child tried to cut it. I had begun to believe my hair would just never lay currently. I told Farzana what I wanted and she assured me she could make it work (just like the 4 previous hair stylists). BUT this time, the result was beautiful! Just the right cut with style and a much more modern look. I was so thrilled with the results!
Farzana also did a full highlight on my hair. She suggested a color, adding some gold tones for depth and the results were perfect. She really knows the right technique, product and color to bring out your natural tones in your hair (but a lot lighter) and it still looks very natural.
I highly recommend Farzana for her knowledge, pleasant personality, willingness to work with our schedule and most of all, outstanding results!

I have been going to Farzana for 6 years now and have always left happy with the results. I go to her for haircuts and keratin treatments. She is so sweet, patient, and makes sure to do your hair the way that you want it. I am very particular with my hair and Farzana has never disappointed me. She is very flexible and accommodating. With Farzana in control of your hair, there is no doubt you’re in good hands.

I can’t wait to try her newest idea every time I go in for my Haircut and Highlights. I am excited to see what she has to in mind for me and I let her do her magic.
I was very happy when Farzana got a ventilation system machine for her salon. This machine cleans up the air of any fume and odor whenever she performs a Brazilian Blowout or any other kind of keratin or straightening chemical. I love this machine because you don’t smell anything and the salon air stays clean.
Thanks to Farzana my hair is healthy and shiny. I get so many compliments on my haircut and color. Recently Farzana introduced a new anti frizz treatment called «I-​Straight» this treatment is between Brazilian blowout and permanent hair straightening. It’s awesome especially for curly and frizzy hair like mine because it lasts longer than Brazilian keratin treatment and it minimize the curls a lot more.
I am very confident in Farzana’s skills that I don’t hesitate to refer anyone to her.

I stopped by today to get a cut by farzana and she is a very pleasant person. The salon is not very neat or stylish… but looked clean. The décor is very random and has a very 80’s feel to it. The location is awesome, parking was easily available.
Farzana listened to what I wanted, gave me a good cut and blew it out very nicely.
She originally said it was $ 60, for a cut and blow dry,. But then gave me a happy hour discount and took $ 11 off.
For $ 49.00, it was a good deal!
Will go back again to her, for sure!

First I have to say that I’m an african american, with true to the roots nappy hair! Finding someone to do my hair is always a struggle and I’ve only allowed about 5 different people to do my hair in my whole life and of the 2 who’ve done it since living in Nor Cal, they’ve both been in Oakland. Not only is it a far drive, but my current hair stylist doesn’t do keratin straightening treatments. I typically get my keratin done with my home stylist in TX, but a flight home just to have my treatment redone seemed ridiculous.
There are stylists everywhere these days in the Bay Area that have started doing keratin straightening (probably cause of the crazy prices they get to charge). But along with those stylists come even more horror stories of women losing their hair from bad treatments or just paying so much $$$ to have the treatment not set properly. Oh why oh why would I want to take such a risk with my hair that grows so slow already!!! Cause I can’t stand my naturally, crazy, thick frizzy hair. Plus keratin has worked on me well in the past (I’ve had it done twice… 8 months apart).
After reading reviews on tons of Unilocal reviews, flipping coins, rolling dice, and calling at least 12 other salons in the area, I decided to follow my gut and book an appointment with Farzana. I’M SOOOOO HAPPY I DID! When I sat down in her chair to get the process started, all I could tell her was… «good luck!» She certainly had her work cut out for her with my head of hair, but she tackled it like a champ! She is very skilled and well-​versed in not only the latest hair styling processes, but also in the failures of the past. She attends hair show and clinics regularly to stay up-​to-​date. She works a lot with Coppola Keratin but knew from her experience that it was not what my hair needed. On me, she used iStraight Keratin, which is a Japanese product. It didn’t make my eyes sting at all and it smelled of strawberries.
I’ve read reviews of people who’s hair didn’t take to the keratin (ie-​it washed out and their hair went back to normal after one or two washes), but Farzana knew what she was doing. It’s been almost two weeks since my treatment and my hair looks and feels GREAT! The issue with breakage that I was having before I went to see Farzana has stopped! (she said the treatment she used would help to strengthen my hair, which was breaking due to the way I sleep and how much I move my head when I sleep… I sleep wild. I was skeptical but now I’m a total believer!)
On top of being a great stylist, she is a really sweet person. I enjoyed talking to her so much that I’m a little sad the treatment should last about 5 months… and I usually stretch it out even longer. I’m looking forward to seeing her again for my next treatment.
I understand that hair is a very personal thing, but I’m very happy with my hair now that Farzana managed to reign it in.

I went to Farzana about a week and a half ago for a keratin express treatment. Overall the results were pretty good, but I felt that Farzana overrepresented her experience with African-​American hair. If I had known the extent of her experience, I probably would have gone elsewhere.
I talked to Farzana in advance of my appointment to make sure that she had experience using keratin smoothing treatments on african-​american hair and she assured me that she did. However, I realized her experience was limited when, after shampooing my hair, she remarked, «it was long when you came in and now it’s so short!» Spoiler alert: unrelaxed African-​American hair gets frizzy when wet.
When Farzana began applying the product to my hair, she was concerned that my hair wasn’t absorbing it (I think she just wasn’t familiar with the texture and how it reacts to products) so she put a huuuuge amount of keratin in my hair. It was sticky after she finished the entire process and stayed that way for about 3 days, not light and silky the way it usually feels.
She also had trouble blow-​drying my hair straight, and asked me how straight I usually got it at home, and what I used to blow dry it straight. It was pretty obvious that she didn’t have much experience blow drying hair with a texture similar to mine, because the didn’t comb from the ends or pull the roots straight while drying. Then she finally mentioned that although she’d done the keratin express treatment on a black girl before (apparently there was only one) the girl already had a relaxer.
While my hair turned out fine, I think it would have been better if the stylist had actually been familiar with my texture of hair. I took the initiative to ask whether she had experience with African-​American hair, and she should have let me know that her experience was very limited so that I could have made an informed decision.
I don’t think I’ll go back to Farzana.

My review of Farzana’s is long overdue. Actually, I purposely waited because I wanted to see how my Brazilian Blowout turned out, and it turns out that it was awesome. My hair’s been dead from all my flat ironing, so a BB was just the pick-​me-​up it needed!
I got my very first BB from Farzana back in November. At the time, I was about to spend a month on the East Coast, so I needed to make sure that my hair would be able to withstand the harsh weather conditions, and most importantly of all, look fabulous for all those holiday photos.
Farzana had a Unilocal deal for BB treatments and she just so happened to be right up the street from where I was staying at the time, so it was a done deal. I called her on a Saturday evening, left her a message about the length and condition of my hair, etc, and asked for a quote. She called me back literally a minute later with a reasonable quote, hence I was booked for an appointment the very next afternoon.
Her salon is located right across from Molly Stone’s, so it was super easy to find and super easy to find parking as well. Farzana is really nice and great to talk to, and the entire treatment took about one and a half hours. She also gets bonus points for having reasonably priced hair products to go along with the treatment. A lot of places only carry the Brazilian Blowout brand, which can be pricey, but she also carries Pravana, which is just as good for literally half the price.
I’ve since gone Brazilian Blowout-​hopping to two different salons since I had Groupons for them, but if I had to go back for another treatment from anyone of them, I’d go to Farzana’s. So I got my first treatment from Farzana in November, but by the time my second appointment rolled around in March, I actually felt like I didn’t really need it just yet, and keep in mind that Brazilian Blowouts tend to last 2 – 3 months.
Farzana is also really knowledgeable in many types of popular hair treatments, so let her know what your expectations are and she’ll steer you in the right direction. I was actually undecided between two types of hair treatments, but after talking to her, decided that a BB was the right one for me.
