Description

Specialties

A modern American Eatery & Bar located one stop from Grand Central Terminal in Long Island City reaches for the history of the neighborhood to transcend its guests to a new location every night.

The big hit is the Ponzi burger, which you get for free provided you buy the burger for the next diner.

History

Established in 2014.

2 ½ years ago, Gregory Okshteyn, a local Architect, took over the vacant property that used to be a tavern called Blessinger’s that was made famous in the 1988 Tom Cruise hit «Cocktail.» He set about giving the 2,400-square-foot space the feeling of a 19th-century European rail station complete with antique turn of the century signs and railroad lanterns.

Business Owner

Born in Chernovitz, Ukraine, Gregory Okshteyn received a Bachelors of Architecture Degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn (1998) and a Masters of Science Degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University (2003). At Columbia, he studied with Sulan Kolatan, Gregg Pasquarelli, and Hani Rashid, among other top architectural practitioners of today.

Prior to receiving his master’s degree, Okshteyn worked at various architecture firms including Gensler, HLW, and Peter Eisenman Architects. After graduating from Columbia, Okshteyn ambitiously set out on his own in 2003 at the age of 28. That year he established Studios GO in New York City, an award winning tight-knit collective of young designers that place innovative fabrication techniques in the service of a contemporary design aesthetic with close attention to function and social interaction.
