This is the first time eating at this Golden Krust location and it’s by far the worse stew chicken I’ve ever seen or tasted. It’s looks just as it taste, nasty! It was a complete waste of my $ 8.70. The food is really gross. Not even the rice,(which I believe is brown rice) was eatable. I wouldn’t even feed this garbage to my puppy!

The service is horrible the staff is lead by the owner’s son who cares less about customer service. The food was decent but lately they’ve cut back on portions. There’s a reason why LaGuardia stopped using them to cater events. For better food and service I go to ReCaFo on 47th Ave. Although they run out of jerk chicken at times I’d rather miss out then spend another dime at that Golden Krust

I just been introduced to this place a few months ago from a friend and now i can’t stop going. I mostly like the patties and the coco bread.

After patiently waiting in line while other employees were assisting customers, a rude boy and I mean that literally comes from the back kitchen after chatting it up and peeking to see just how long the line could really get during lunch time, he walks out kindly takes the customer behind me as if I wasn’t waiting. As he deliberately makes his move to the other register instead of the one where the line was already formed, he makes eye contact with me to acknowledge that he knew exactly what he was doing and was wrong for it, but figured he’d just continue the transaction because I didn’t go ape shit on him for that. I walked out, not that anyone cared. I’ve always received the worst customer service at any Golden Crust in America, so what made me think this one was any better??? This is a fairly busy location located near several educational institutions, so you’d figure the level of service could be upped for the customer base. The low level employees are horribly trained and don’t care about losing business on behalf of the company name. It’s more about their personal customer preference, if you’re a big man, they’d be afraid you’ll jump over the counter if you got the same shoddy service, but any one perceived to be less than brawny or has higher estrogen levels will be treated like rubbish.(Unless of course they’re looking to get your phone number for a date) Since the young man looked like he just finished scratching his hind parts and those in between, I figured this was a sign from God never to eat there again and to spread the word to bring a PBJ to work in case you get hungry. Did I mention that 1 star was wwwaaayyyy too much for this review? May the rude employee run into traffic on Thomson and Van Damn. Arrogance cost Golden Crust a customer today and forever, this would have been my 3rd purchase, but I will never spend my dollars there again besides the beef patties not being that good, just something to get you through the day.

If you make it across the dangerous intersection of Thomson and van dam street right next to a 7-eleven you will see Golden Krust. Situated near Laguardia community college it is a total dead zone of food places only Thomson diner, a chinese restaurant and a school café. With all of these lackluster choices Golden Krust was a diamond in the rough. Golden Krust is all about their patties– they have different beef and chicken patties and this time I was able to get the curry chicken patty which was not filled to bursting like a empanada or a meat pie but did have good flavor and the flaky crust made up for it. you can also try it in their special cocobread but the patty alone is fine. I actually wanted to try the jerk chicken patty but they ran out of those but the curry chicken was a good second. they have a board out front of what their lunch specials are. that day they had fried fish fritters but i wanted to try the curry goat. you can get a large or a small. the small is a pretty decent size but the large can be overwhelming. you can probably share this or have it for lunch and dinner. it came with rice and beans and a side of cabbage or steamed veggies if you prefer. The rice and beans was made dirty rice style with the beans mashed and mixed into it and has a smoky flavor. the goat was cooked tenderly and had good curry flavor since it was stewed and the nice dark pieces had a little pink inside. they also stock specialty sodas and have baked goods by the register. A very satisfying lunch considering that it is a chain especially if you are in the mood for caribbean food which I always am but i would say that their regular prices would amount to what I would consider dinner prices unless you get a lunch special. It is also not the cleanest looking place from the outside but a lot of people come in to grab patties to go.

Definitely the cleanest location I’ve visited. Get the $ 4.99 brown stew chicken lunch special. NOM. Signs say they are now serving roti and poutine! Must return. Bottled sorel drink is no substitute for homemade :(

Across the street from LaGuardia Community College, the little store is the home to my favorite beef patties. I occasionally order their Caribbean dishes like the jerked chicken dishes and once tried the Braised Oxtail Combo. If you are a beef patty fan, these beef patties are worth ordering for $ 2.00 because they are a different style than anything you would get from the frozen section of the supermarket or from a pizza shop. Though good, those combo dishes are expensive, running $ 7.99 to over $ 11.00plus, unfortunately you’re not getting plentiful, it’s just a plain medium platter, so to me it’s slightly overpriced for the amount and flavor but still worthwhile to try. The flavor and over all taste is nothing to rave about from this chain. Whenever I am near the area, I always stop by to grab one or two of their spicy Jamaican beef patties for a snack. If I have time I will sit and chow down on one of their glossy wooden tables. One of the reasons I give it four stars is because sitting in the store is comfortable(compared to other Golden Krust I been to), clean and has a good view of the outside as you eat. The view, comfort level and the food are the patties are the reason for the four stars for a chain with such a small establishment. The staff are okay, they do their job and handle the lines when it gets busy. Though not the most friendly, service is good. If you go in there enough, one cool lady will remember your order. She often remembers my usual. I’ll be around.
