Gantry Plaza State Park

This park is pretty relaxing and has a beautiful view of the city landscape. I enjoyed the walk, because is not as crowded and dirty as other parks that I usually frequent. You see a lof of wood benches and there is a mini park playground for kids.
A great place to exercise and chill with your friends. I would definitely go back again!

This review is for the playground, not the entire park. Here’s the thing, yes, the views are incredible. Wonderful location, no doubt. And cool, new age playground equipment. All great positives. But here’s the catch: no toddler swings. How can a state of the art playground in the 21^st century not have a high stock of toddler swings? Also, as of summer 2015, the water feature is busted and the signs that were posted said it would be fixed; but, alas, it never was. Anyway, this place is a family destination. The playground is still a lot of fun.

One of the best parks around NYC. Along the Queens waterfront and across from midtown manhattan. It’s one of the best skyline views in town. Also of the Queensboro bridge. Even the iconic Pepsi sign stands here. Ample space with lots of benches to relax and view the skyline and greenspace to sit down in the summer. You’ll find the local kayak boathouse here as well and on summer weekends you’ll get free kayaking on the east river. Lot’s of new condos along the stretch and a great queens flea nearby for great eats, a beer garden, and shopping. One of those parks you can just relax and enjoy NYC.

Gantry Plaza State Park is a NYC gem in my favorite borough Queens. Those pictures don’t lie. This park is beautiful, breathtaking, spacious, green, and relaxing. Plus it’s always better to look at the city than be in it.
This view is everything and it’s free! Nice date idea during the warmer months! NYC parks are really stepping it up each year and this is one definitely worth a visit. Bring your bike, blanket, snacks, family/​friends, dog, camera and enjoy this perfect space.

Been coming here since 2004 when it was practically empty. It’s a very relaxing park to view the Manhattan building skyline and water front. I’ve seen people come here to fish or just to hang out. It’s great and even better now with the Center Boulevard condos completed. It brings in more families and a few more businesses around. It makes the place even nicer.
A bit hard to find parking but it’s only a couple of block away from the subway station and a street full of restaurants and businesses. Though Gantry Plaza State Park has few.

I’ve been here for many occasions and I have to say I love Gantry State Park (GSP). I still think Brooklyn Bridge Park blows this place out of the water… but GSP is in Queens and I can avoid the madness of the BQE. Tonight I came to see the Super Moon Lunar Eclipse and it was perfecto! One bad thing was the lingering urine smell on the benches, but your body is built to block out the smell in 5 minutes (Reminds me of NYC Subway system… haha). Gotta love NYC!

Beautiful park with a breathtaking view of Manhattan. They have a dog park, playground, large field for playing ball, basketball courts, and much more. You can sun bathe or have a picnic on the large grass area. If you did not bring a basket, there are a ton of restaurants in walking distance. I absolutely love this park and visit as often as possible.

This place is absolutely beautiful. A nice romantic spot to take your significant other to see the sunset and get a beautiful view of the city. Even loving here all your life you see the beauty of it better when you look at it from across the river. I spent some time just laying on the grass you’ll have tourists and photographers all around snapping pictures and trying to capture the beauty of the place.
We went over to the waters edge and watched the sunset together on my lady’s birthday. It was romantic and a great ending to a nice day together. We saw some people kayaking at one point, Will definitely have to look up where we can get one of those. The are is nice and there are lots of options in the neighborhood as far as food and nightlife. We are quite jealous if the people who have the Lakeview apartments in the area. Maybe someday…

What’s not to love about this place, seems like it should be in Manhattan, but its LIC, so its cool. Not cooler that Brooklyn Bridge Park, but cool enough. That
Pepsi Cola sign is dope though.

This is it. This is everything I wanted from NY, and it’s just a short walk from a subway stop.
Amazing views. Cool wooden lounge chairs in addition to regular benches. Quiet. Nearly empty on a sunny Friday afternoon. There was even some chess set up.
But seriously, the views. This is the spot for a great panorama of Manhattan without any tourists in the way!

I’ve been in Hunters Point for about two years and, without question, Gantry Plaza has been the best part about living here. Truth be told, the food and bar scene in LIC is lacking compared to most neighborhoods in the city, but this park and the Manhattan views make it worthwhile.
Park highlights:
–Huge metal shipping gantries paying homage to LIC’s industrial past
–Several wooden piers leading into the East River
–Countless benches and more than ample seating
–Open grass areas
–Breathtaking Manhattan views
Fair warning, the park is becoming a hot spot for tourists and locals alike, so it can get pretty insane on weekends. During the week it’s much calmer. And from time to time there are camera crews and film/​tv trailers with even the occasional celebrity sighting as well.
I know Central Park gets all the love in this city and understandably so. However, Gantry Plaza definitely holds it’s own. Try taking a post-​dinner stroll along the water while taking in the spectacular night-​time views of the skyline. If you do, please tell me what in Central Park can top that.

Love love love this place. Want to take a walk with an awesome view? Want to jog with an awesome view? Want to have a picnic with an awesome view? Take your kid to a playground with an awesome view? Lounge around on the grass and tan? Enjoy some bites and drinks? Fish? Chill on a pier? Even take your dog to a park with an awesome view? This is your place!
It’s so impressive how this place has expanded and improved in the last few years. I love coming here to enjoy the view and weather. Great place to bring your significant other/​friends/​family/​out of towners, etc. No one will be disappointed. It’s absolutely one of my favorite places in Queens! I even had my engagement pictures taken here.
P. S. During warmer months, there is always a frozen yogurt truck by the piers so you can enjoy a treat!

Breathtaking views from all directions, it’s easy to fall in love with this spot. Enormous synthetic grass field located in the center of the park, the fun is endless. A playground for the kids & a workout station for the adults all out doors! There is even a Real Sand area for Volleyball.
Whether u want to pop a squat, Lay out for a picnic, Have a seat on one of the many benches in the park, Take out a minute to enjoy the scenery or Enjoy a sit down meal from LIC Landing Coffeed located inside the park (Bucket Of Beer $ 27 bucks) there is plenty of activities & space for everyone!
Street Metered Parking & yes there is bathrooms located in the park. Two Words *Simply Gorgeous* a spot that can bring out anyone’s inner Zen.

Do yourself a summertime favor and pay a visit. In an isolated evening I found that you can stroll the length of the park and encounter pickup soccer games, sunbathing, eclectic arts and crafts projects, silent raves, kite flying, live music… Not to mention great photo ops with the iconic Pepsi Cola sign.
Oh, and the views. Did I mention the views? You want to see these views.
Plus East River Ferry access, yay.

I spent the day in Long Island City and of course had to visit their beautiful park. The day wasn’t that sunny out but there was still a nice crowd of people enjoying the park. They have a nice closed off park for the children to play. There are tons of seating to chill, eat or sit by the water and watch our city amazing views. We saw three wedding parties and one sweet sixteen party getting their professional photography settings in and it was cool to watch.
I was shocked to see there wasn’t more food vendors in the area to get a quick bite to eat. We saw an ice-​cream truck but no other places to get something to snack on. This is definitely a park to check out when the weather is nice. It felt so calm and relaxing enjoying the scenery and people watching in Queens. You don’t have to go to the city (Central Park) to enjoy some greenery and beautiful views.
This is a park I will definitely return to and bring friends and family to enjoy.

I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite places in the city for waterfront photo-​ops. I’ve been here multiples times and every time I come here, I still can’t believe that I haven’t seen it all. From the vintage Coca-​Cola sign to the newly renovated piers and soccer fields, this place sure has a lot to offer.
Ever since the city moved the Macy’s fireworks displays back to the East Side, this park provides one of the best views in the city of the floating barges on July 4^th. It’s a heck of a lot better than Brooklyn Bridge Park in my opinion. On any clear day, the park provides spectacular views of the Empire State, Chrysler, MetLife and MoMA buildings. If you look north, the whole Ed Koch Bridge can also be visible in plain sight.
Overall, this is a great park for photographers, kids and people who just want to enjoy the day with a great view of Manhattan. Would I come back? I’ve been here countless times already!

Beautiful view — CHECK (seriously, I dunno y even bother with other views of Manhattan further away when u can have THIS)
Diluted crowd — CHECK (as long as NOT everybody continues to come xD)
Clean benches (and everything else) — CHECK. No bird poop, no trash, I dunno how they do it!
Fun playground — CHECK. Makes other NYC park playground look like sandbox. It is more physically challenging than most playgrounds and makes you realize how OLD you are!
Decent eats — CHECK. Tho I haven’t had any, they have coffee and grilled goodies here!
Smokers — unfortunately, check :[ Stay home, y’all.
Doggie Park — get here!

YOU’RE MISSING OUT IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN HERE. Sorry for the obnoxious caps lock, but this park is truly a beauty in Queens. I’ve been living in Queens for several years now, but even so I’ve discovered this place way too late. No matter where you are in the park, you’re guaranteed amazing views of the East River and NYC skyline.
There are countless areas within the park to relax and finding your own personal space is NEVER a problem. If you’re approaching the park from the East/​Queens, the left (Southern) area of the park has Coffeed (amazing cold brew coffee) with sand volleyball courts and an AstroTurf-​like field where mostly families and young children play. There a bunch of ice cream truck vendors along the street as you head up/​North towards the basketball courts, playground and enclosed dog park. Further up are walkable piers that stick out into the East River and remnants of old railways turned into gardens. All along this path heading more North towards the giant iconic Pepsi Cola sign are multiple flat areas for sunbathing and waterfront benches.
Oh and if you’re hungry on the weekends, LIC Flea Market for some food/​drinks/​snacks is only a short walk away right around the corner!

It was my first time in this park and had a very nice stroll after having lunch at Blend.
You get very nice views to the East side of Manhattan and upclose view to the vintage Pepsi Cola sign. Great photo opps… there were some people taking bridal and quinceanera pics.
There’s also cool lounge chairs and grassy areas to relax and take in some vitamin E while there!

Du coté de Long Island, c’est à Gantry Park qu’est offert une incroyable et magnifique vue.
La ligne de métro 7 dépose non loin de là à la station «Vernon Boulevard/​Jackson Avenue». En arrivant par la 47eme rue, c’est tout d’abord l’Empire State Building qui se profile puis petit à petit au fur et à mesure que l’on continue c’est le tout Manhattan et ses immenses bâtiments qui se montrent de long en large.
La foule est peu nombreuse faisant régner un calme quasi total. Rester pour voir le coucher de soleil et la nuit tombé sur la ville est un instant de grâce exceptionnel.
