If you don’t live in New Jersey near one of our many locations or haven’t visited us yet, there’s good news for you, too. Keep an eye out for more WindMills to come. We’re growing rapidly in New Jersey and beyond.
See you at the WindMill!
History
Established in 1963.
.
The original WindMill opened in the West End section of Long Branch in 1963. Leo and Ed Levine, the father and uncle of the current owners, Rena Levine Levy and Steven Levine (sister and brother) purchased the WindMill restaurant in 1976. Since that time 8 additional locations have been opened, with the latest opening in Hoboken in the spring of 2012.
The West End WindMill as if has become known is actually a building shaped like a windmill and boasts a deck on top (for eating) which overlooks the ocean; the spot was named at the top of places to visit in the state of NJ.
Along with fans of all ages, many NJ celebrities make the WindMill locations must stop places when they are in the area. Not only do local readers of the Asbury Park Press consistently vote the WindMill hot dog #1 at the shore, but Martha Stewart also named WindMill hot dogs one her favorites too. But the awards don’t stop there, readers of NJ Monthly consistently vote WindMill fries #1 in the state.
Meet the Business Owner
Rena and Steven L.
Business Owner
Sister and brother Rena Levine Levy and Steven Levine are the current owners of 4 WindMill Restaurants and the WindMill Franchise Company. They both actively participate in the business and are committed to carrying on the traditions (serving only the highest quality foods in fast and friendly environments) started by their father Leo and their Uncle Eddie, the original family members to own and operate the business.
Rena and Steven are both believers in giving back to the communities in which they operate and have individually and as a family earned several community service awards and citations. They are dedicated to the welfare of their staff members and sincerely believe that their staff is on of the key reasons the WindMills have been so successful.
