Worst office ever!!! Be prepared to wait over an hour for your appointment. When I asked the front desk staff why I would bother coming on time she explained because of the care and time given to every special patient. BS… They just overbook. I left without even seeing Doctor. When I called to ask for a co-​pay refund was told I had to come back and handle in person. Drove all the way back within the time frame of posted hours but doors were locked. I knocked and saw two pairs of children’s shoes at the door but no one answered. When I returned later and inquired about the hours, the staff informed me they close ½ hour earlier for lunch on Fridays… THEN CHANGE YOUR SIGN!!! I will never ever bring my son back there.

ON ¹²⁄₈ I called to see if the office received our emergency referral request from our son’s Optometrist. The staff was very rude, as in we were bothering them for even calling. I asked if they have received the fax and she said no. I called back 30 minutes later to let them know, I spoke with the Optometrist staff and they re faxed it. The lady on the phone said, ugh yes I got it. Why does he need to come here. I explained my son’s situation and that the Optometrist is unsure and wants him to see a specialist. That his condition could be multitudes of things, but he would like an Ophthalmologists’ opinion. The lady on the phone said, «Well, we only do certain things here. So…» I had to state AGAIN, the Optometrist is not for certain and wants her opinion. Geez. Really? She says, «Come in tomorrow. Okay?» Okay, thank you. Geez. Most unprofessional staff. You do realize you are working at a CHILDREN’S facility. Seriously? If you don’t want to be there, by all means go else where.
We went to our son’s appointment and arrived 15 minutes prior to his appointment and filled out the short ppwk. We waited an hour to see the doctor. Once we got to the room, the TECH DID NOT EVEN SANITIZE THE EQUIPMENT. I refused for our son to put his head on the chin rest and so forth, due to the make up and dirt on the instruments. I HAD TO WIPE IT OFF MYSELF with sanitizer. That’s just gross and ridiculous. Not ONCE but TWICE. The children’s toys were COVERED in filth like they have not been cleaned in months. Not kidding.
Once the doctor came in, she did a short 5 minute exam and they dilated our sons eyes. We waited 30 minutes, then the doctor came back in. She literally said, okay the left eye is fine. Okay, so why is the pigment changing? We had to ask every question verses her trying to possibly explain what might be causing it etc. Definitely not a people person, let alone for pediatric with kids. We did inform her of the techs not cleaning the equipment in front of the patients and the equipment and child toys being filthy. She said, oh okay, thanks. WHAT! by the way, we were not done till after 12. That’s absurd!
We do NOT recommend this Ophthalmologist to anyone.

I took my daughter for an appointment and had to step out and wait outside because it was a dam zoo in there kids everywhere climbing on everything and their parents not saying a dam thing and when spoke to the woman at the front she had attitude and acted like I was bothering her. Beware of this office, All they care about is collecting payment., They made me paid $ 1800 out of pocket the day before surgery and I did, and they also filed a claim with my insurance and collected payment from them as well. Not to mention a mothers worse nightmare to know that we trusted this doctor to do surgery on our son and now he is worse than when he started,. I should have cancelled when I got my gut feeling since I notice the doctor was a bit confuse and what my son needed and had no clue what we had previously talked about, I had to remind her and I had to even ask her to go back and look at the notes and the previous medical records. I feel so guilty for trusting this doctor and now I have to live with seeing my son worse. after the surgery I notice his eye was worse and I took him back in and all she kept telling me was he look perfect! WHAT! NO he does not and her solution was to go on to the next eye and operate with out knowing what she is going to do. 2 MONTHS have pass and his eye is worse, Its so noticeable that I have taken him to another ophthalmologist for a second option and the doctor confirm that his eye is bad. Please make sure before you trust your children with this doctor make sure you do your research, you don’t want to find your self in my situation regretting not trusting your gut feeling, even if the doctors promises you the world don’t do it unless u are sure.

Dr. Jotterand’s office is great! It is clean and the office staff is excellent (especially Wanda) They have been on time every time I have been there.
Dr. Jotterand is an excellent doctor and does fantastic work. I am 27 and have had an inward turned eye since 2^nd grade. On Wednesday I had strabismus surgery on my right eye. Everything was very well explained and it was a pain free surgery!
Today, one day after surgery, I went I for my post op checkup. My eye looks great. I have for the first time full peripheral vision and was able to identify 5 – 7 3D images (I was only able to identify 1 before the surgery! This is all just one day after surgery and am told it should continue to improve over the next 2 months as the eye continues to heal! I recommend everyone to go see Dr. Jotterand!

I would give 0 stars if I could. This place is gross, dirty and old and their staff is horrible. First appt waited over 4 hours just in waiting room. Second visit waited over 2 hours. Third visit I was running 10 minutes late and called to tell them ahead of time (405 traffic sucks). Due to traffic I was on the fwy for over an hour but I arrived with my son only 10 minutes late to put appt. I checked my son into the busy office with no empty seats. They took my co pay about 20 min later and told me the wait would be at least an hour and a half. After an hour waiting another lady calls me up and said I had to reschedule because I was late. What??? After I just waited over an hour??? She would not give me my son’s medical records when I said I would not be coming back and barely gave me my co pay back when I demanded my son be seen or that they refund my co pay (which they eventually did). I told them they were ridiculous and that my son shouldn’t suffer because of their lack of scheduling abilities. I left and 20 min later the office manager called to apologize for the «misunderstanding.» she made a lot of excuses too…“we get too many referrals because she is a specialist” (uh stop taking more patients if you can’t accomodate the ones you have who made appts 4 months ago) «you make appts at the busiest time of day» (yes I work and try to schedule around my work and kids school schedules but I had been to both morning and afternoon and still long waits) «the patients today had really big issues» (ya so does my son who still hasn’t been seen) «the front office girl is new» (then fire her because she should never be allowed to be rude to a patient like that)…the office manager who called me after the fact was nice but «sorry» doesn’t fix everything and making excuses for your staff just enables continued bad behavior. Oh and while I am on here rating Dr Jotterand with 1 star… since October we have been 3 times and my son’s eye is not improved at all, in fact it seems to be worse, so in addition to rude staff, gross office, not much faith in «the specialist» either at this point. I filed a complaint with insurance and I am hoping our pediatrician can get us into another specialist soon for a second opinion.

No wonder they only have 2 stars, the office is run by the rudest, and most unprofessional people I ever had to deal with, the office opens at 8:00am For the past 3 hours I been trying to make an appt for my kids and the operator exchange keeps telling me the office will not be taken any calls, Seriously!!! I am not calling urgent care or going to ER, its a doctor office for god sake, Dr. Jotterand staff need a crash course how to be more professional and to be appropriate with the patients, I cannot say anything bad about the doctor she is great, but she needs to know what goes in her office, either fire the whole staff and get professional ones or have them take a course how to deal with patients 101, beyond ridiculious, without us her staff will not have jobs

Very unprofessional staff. Three different people answer the phone and pass it on to the next one. They try to get all the insurance information before they give you an appointment. All the other reviews are horrible and we agree with them.

My 6 year old daughter is treated by Dr. Jotterand. We’ve seen her and her associate a total of 3 times and I have to say I have yet to receive less than exceptionally good service from her and her staff.
I came to her as a 2^nd opinion because I was not satisfied with the first doctor off Long Beach blvd who told me my daughter will be wearing glasses until she’s 18. We waited 4 hours at that other place, and he never explained anything and actually seemed to have given me a condescending attitude when I would ask questions about my daughter’s condition. When I came here to Dr. Jotterand I felt so much more comforted after the visit. She explained my daughter’s condition thoroughly, provided information and reassured me of the process to strengthen her eye. The way she handled my concerns, and the way she made my daughter feel made me so happy that I came here. Luckily my daughter does not need any surgery and after just recently seeing Dr. Jotterand yesterday to check on her progress I felt I had to share how well taken care of we feel here at this office with Dr. Jotterand.
I’ve read all these previous reviews, and it really astonishes me to hear of all their horrible experiences. When I was talking to two other parents in the «dark room» yesterday we were all expressing how we are completely satisfied with Dr. Jotterand and how excellent she is in explaining our children’s eye conditions. I read about the wait times and have yet to experience anything out of the ordinary for a doctors visit. I truly feel bad for all of you who have written such negative reports, I feel bad you had to go through that experience with Dr. Jotterand and her staff. I’ve been to many other doctor’s offices where their staff were just horrible, but the staff are not necessarily a direct reflection of the doctor. The doctor is way to busy with patients, reports, and (for most) surgeries. I can only speak for what I’ve experienced, and to date everything has been wonderful here with Dr. Jotterand.

Don’t go here. Find a different doctor. Rude secretary and doctor. They charge your insurance falsely. I was charged for a visit where I was turned away and told that it would be a credit to me and then charged again when I rescheduled. There are many reviews on this site that state the same thing. You are told one thing and then cheated later. They are not people-​centered but money centered. They have no customer service skills and could care less about your personal situation. Listen to the reviews. They are true.

just a browser and wanted to point out the fake 5 star review. First of all, it was written the day after one of the first bad reviews. Secondly, the reviewer has no other reviews or info about themselves, just this one review, that’s all. hmmmm. Obvious they signed up for a fake name to do the review. Thirdly, the way they speak is so obvious. «This doctor is the best in the area and worth the wait. They care about your child, and when the doctor is examining your child she doesn’t rush or look to see what type of insurance you have, she treats every patient the same. I would highly recommend this office to anyone because they really do care about you and your child.» Sounds like a commercial! Who doesn’t speak in the first person when writing a Unilocal review!!! I hate when dumb office staff who write fake reviews and aren’t even clever enough to make it sound legit. Why would you state that these people treat everyone the same and care about «you and your child». How would you know that as a patient? You only know how they treated your child, not how they treat everyone. That review is the most obvious attempt to respond to the bad reviews.
Hi Dr. and office staff! If you want to respond, you should click the response button and respond as yourself. Very sleazy and childish to pretend to be someone else. I’ve seen good businesses on Unilocal make a mistake that was then advertised on Unilocal.They responded as the owner attempting to fix the problem. Apologizing and offering the customer to come back to see the changes they’ve made. I respect that. That’s something special to have on the website, that you care about customers/​patients.
I also wonder why that fake review is at the top even though according to the date it should be closer to the bottom. I’ve heard of Unilocal offering option like this to business for money. Very wrong.
I was looking for a pediatric ophthalmologist in Long Beach. Thank you Unilocalers for helping me. I can’t afford to waste time with a rude doctor and their staff.

Wish I would have looked at Unilocal before signing us up for a visit! We were recommended by our Pediatrician, so I thought it would be great. This was our follow-​up visit, so it should have been routine and fairly quick. No confirmation call for the appt, we got there and waited 40 minutes past our appointment time to get into an exam room. We were seen by someone who didn’t identify themselves, just started the initial exam, and waited another 30 minutes to see the eye doctor. The doctor then spent 2 minutes with us. Too much for a 4 year old to deal with. Wayyyy too much for her mother (me)! Not professional. Not clean – dust/​grime everywhere, wires and cables everywhere, trashed blinds. Not considerate of their patient’s time. Not recommended!

I have been a patient for three years, and this last time i went to pick up my glass at 3:30 pm on Friday, December 30^th after receiving a call from the office staff. When I arrived the doors were located. A man was putting glasses through the mail slot on the door. A sign was posted on the window saying they would be back in the off by 2:30. I waited until 4:15 and a lady opened the office but said that the rest of the staff was out for the rest of the day and she could not help me get my glasses. I called and left several messages, none of which was returned. I contacted them and an agreement was reached that they were to credit me 68.33 for my wasted time. But when I went to pick up my glasses today. December 3 Lana the business manager refused to give me the refund. They can not be trusted. I do not recommend this business because of the office staff. The drs are good.

. Check for yourself! Jotterand’s Office is a HUGE JOKE!!! You can’t even trust them with honest reviews, how can you trust them with your child’s eyes!
Don’t think about writing a negative review about them either, they will send you a certified letter telling you they are terminating doctor/​patient relationship. I believe that is called RETALIATION!!!

Since moving to NY, my family and I have PROFESSIONAL doctor now. It’s so refreshing to have a doctor who actually cares and takes the time to address your concerns, which is certainly lacking at the offices of Dr. Jotterand. From top to bottom, the office is rude, discourteous, and downright vulgar. I thought my first visit was a fluke — I waited 90 minutes and saw the doctor for 10 minutes. On my second visit, I waited 53 minutes before having to ask for the doctor and then being told she had an emergency to attend to. WHY WOULD YOU WAIT TO INFORM WAITING PATIENTS!!! No apology from the staff — just a cold glare from Lena the office manager. Somebody better tell her if she keeps making that face, it’ll become permanent. Oh wait, too late.
Apparently, I am not alone here with my frustration. According to
, the average wait time to see Dr. Jotterand is 50 minutes. By comparison, patients wait a national average of 21 minutes before seeing a doctor.
Do yourself a favor and stay away. Find your child a doctor who cares — they’re out there. Too bad I moved across the country for one!

I’m a firm believer that the way you run your office and allow your employee’s to treat patients is a direct reflection of who you are & I’m basing this review on the unprofessionalism of her front office (I’m only giving them A Star because I’m forced to). I was trying to book an appointment for my daughter and let me tell you… they will literally GRILL you before letting you even make an appointment. Are you kidding me? They asked me what type of insurance I had (asked 3 x’s) and I mentioned I had a PPO and that I had confirmed I was covered at any Medical Office but she refused to schedule an appointment unless I gave her the EXACT billing address of my insurance, Group ID & Phone Number of my insurance so she could call before I could even come in. Such BS. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE whatsoever. Completely unprofessional. God forbid a parent without insurance who would have to pay cash were to call. They’d probably hang up on you or make you email them a picture of your wad of cash. LOL. When I asked if this was absolutely necessary (I didn’t have my card in front of me) she said it was MANDATORY or I would never get an appointment. Such a joke. You haven’t even provided a service but you want to know where to send the bill? Oh, sure… Thanks but NO THANKS. I’ll gladly take my business elsewhere. I couldn’t possibly get a clearer sign that patient care does not come 1^st at this office. They treat you like they expect you to come into their office for services without being able to pay (God forbid!). I would expect this type of treatment in a 3^rd world country (You can’t pay? Guess what? You won’t be able to see loser!!). Jeeze. Take your business to a Dr. who actually places patient care 1^st. This place is a joke.

Dr. Jotterand is a nice person and good doctor. There is often a long wait to be seen. I would not recommend her office because her staff completely lacks customer service skills. I was told my glasses would be ready in 7 – 10 days and it took 3 weeks. I would have been more understanding if there was appropriate communication between the office and myself. Once my glasses were received they were not the specific ones I ordered. It was a complete headache to deal with this ordeal and it took a couple of months to be resolved.
